Pretesting would be a good idea to obtain the goal of clear instructions and formats to make it easy and less time-consuming. The disadvantage of interviewing an individual versus a group is time-consuming and both are open to dishonesty/being biased. The advantage of face-to-face interviews is being in person with the individual and building a good foundational relationship. If the individual is not available in person due to travelling or not reachable, then an electronic interview is possible, however there could be problems combining results from two different type of interviews (Krathwohl, 2009). The disadvantage with interviewing a focus group at once is because, the interviewer would need to have multi-tasking skills to be able to listen to more than one person talk and at the same time understand the dynamics of the group and be able to capture good information. Another disadvantage is that, there could also be individuals in the group who are shy to express openly and that would lead to loss of some good information. In EDU671 the researcher begins selecting data tools to help identify the issue within the organization. Using both qualitative and quantitative data will help find and measure the area of focus. After analyzing the data received, consequently it was determined the organization had a major communication gap between leadership and employees. The qualitative data were used as a formative assessment to gather information on employee communication skills. Once the information was received the quantitative data served as the summative assessment to focus on the implementation of new communication strategies. After receiving both qualitative and quantitative data collection, the researcher can now focus on whether or not the data collected will help answer the research questions in the research action plan. While you can conduct research for a survey, you can utilize a questionnaire to gather information for it. A questionnaire is a tool and a survey is a method of research. The survey was used to gain an insight on the employee’s perspective of the company’s atmosphere and the overall professional sense that was portrayed in the workplace. As well as what they felt was lacking thereof regarding marketing strategies. Whereas, the questionnaire was used to gain personal insight on the employee’s feeling and thoughts towards the company and their marketing program.
The father of quantitative analysis, Rene Descartes, thought that in order to know and understand something, you have to measure it (Kover, 2008). Quantitative research has two main types of sampling used, probabilistic and purposive. Probabilistic sampling is when there is equal chance of anyone within the studied population to be included. Purposive sampling is used when some benchmarks are used to replace the discrepancy among errors. The primary collection of data is from tests or standardized questionnaires, structured interviews, and closed-ended observational protocols. The secondary means for data collection includes official documents. In this study, the data is analyzed to test one or more expressed hypotheses. Descriptive and inferential analyses are the two types of data analysis used and advance from descriptive to inferential. The next step in the process is data interpretation, and the goal is to give meaning to the results in regards to the hypothesis the theory was derived from. Data interpretation techniques used are generalization, theory-driven, and interpretation of theory (Gelo, Braakmann, Benetka, 2008). The discussion should bring together findings and put them into context of the framework, guiding the study (Black, Gray, Airasain, Hector, Hopkins, Nenty, Ouyang, n.d.). The discussion should include an interpretation of the results; descriptions of themes, trends, and relationships; meanings of the results, and the limitations of the study. In the conclusion, one wants to end the study by providing a synopsis and final comments. Focusing on surveys and questionnaires, and quantitative research methods, it varies on the person getting questioned as to which method they prefer. Some individuals may prefer to fill in a questionnaire, as it is quick and simple for them, whereas someone else would rather have a face-to-face interview because they may find questionnaires to complicated. Giving people the choice gives the more chance of getting a response overall. It is important that the researchers are aware of the advantages and disadvantages because they will then be aware of what method to use, and will know what method is best to use. It is also an advantage to work with experienced researchers in order to find out the best results.

Perhaps using a larger sample size would be conducive for accurate results. A larger sample size helps reduce and even out any possible errors caused by those who do not answer truthfully. Also, keeping the surveys mainly anonymous would help to receive more truthful and accurate responses from participants. Participants may be fearful of judgments on open interviews or phone interviews, which could affect responses. In order to obtain as accurate results as possible, a future study would need to find ways to survey participants in a confidential way that feels comfortable.
