If I am going to be completely honest I need to express my true reason for applying for the USDA scholarship. For starters, I am tired of relying on my family to help me pay for college, I want to take more responsibility for my schooling. My mother is the one who pays for my tuition since my father is now unemployed and I will not take money from him until he is fully able to support himself. This situation does not really sit well with my mother, because unlike my sister she received help from both our parents during her schooling. I am very grateful and blessed that I do have a mother who is supporting me through college since I know several people who are doing it on their own unwillingly. However, I often feel as though I am a burden towards
William C. Friday, former President of the University of North Carolina system and a dedicated educator, said of Roy H. Park ‘31, distinguished NC State graduate and namesake of the Park Scholarships: "Always of good humor and with a generous heart, he… [shared] of himself gladly in the service of others." How and why have you shared of yourself in the service of others?
In the beginning of my senior year I was eager to expand my understanding of how it would be to work in a hospital. An opportunity arose allowing me to volunteer in the hospital at the University of Chicago. I was able to volunteer at the children's playroom, which consisted of a weekly commitment. The daily tasks I had to perform where to enlighten the spirits of children and reduce the amount of anxiety that developed within them when they approached a hospital visit. I would play games, read books, or just company the patients at their bedside. I especially love to interact with the younger patients because their laughter and innocence warms my heart up.
Last summer I volunteered at a local hospital for a total of 136 hours. At the end of the summer I received an honorable mention award for being a dedicated volunteer who is highly respected around the hospital. Furthermore, I've been a committed volunteer during this school year. I have also been an active member of my school's HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) chapter; this March I will be competing in a medical terminology competition against members of other HOSA chapters across the state. Additionally, I am a devoted member of my school's academic decathlon team. Finally, I have been a member of CSF (California Scholarship Federation) for the past two years.
I believe that I should receive the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship because of the dedication and love for stock shows and pigs. In addition, it will help supplement the rising tuition cost to attend Texas Tech University. My family's income relies mainly on my family’s unpredictable financial income. Our income stems mostly from my father, who farms. His earnings fluctuate from year to year due to variables that come naturally with farming. Though he is an extremely hard worker, there are times that his cotton yields are low thanks to weather, pests, and other things that can be detrimental to a crop. Farming requires diligence and a family that works together. Thankfully, I have both. Sometimes, however, no matter how hard he
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
I have been saving my 4-H money for college this whole time. This scholarship will help with books and other experiences I can put towards, as stated before my family has a low income and is unable to assist me. I wasn't expecting anything. I am not Entitled to anything my parents have worked for, only to what I
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
The Jared E. McEachern Scholarship is vital to my college career due to my decision to attend Anderson University. Anderson University is a private school that costs nearly thirty- six thousand dollars to attend per year. It is imperative that I apply for as many scholarships as possible in hopes of reaching my goal of receiving at least half of my tuition. My parents are very supportive and willing to help in any way they can; however, I genuinely do not want to cause them any stress when it comes to paying for college.
Feel I qualify for this scholarship because I love to help people. Through different experiences, such as sports and school, I have learned and demonstrated various leadership skills. Being a Link crew leader not only taught me how to be a leader but, it help me have faith in myself and to always look up to younger people. I joined link crew so I could help our new 10 graders find their way around, and to feel included and accepted at their new school. For example during orientation in august I was giving good amount of advice to my sophomore group to be able to survive high school since I am a senior this year This made me proud and humbled that I could make a huge impact in someone's life. Another reason is I am good at organization and
According to statistics, youth whose parents have not attended a post secondary are 19.8% less likely to attend university than those whose parents have. They also show a 12.8% gap between youth whose parents are in the bottom third of income distribution as opposed to those with higher incomes. On top of this, there's a 14.6% difference between youth from rural areas compared to population centres and a 7.5% gap between youth with one parent and youth with two. And yet, against all odds, I am writing to you today in the hopes of funding my education. I exhibit a majority of the characteristics you are looking for, such as leadership, financial need, a solid career plan and 2 and a half years of work experience. These are just some of the qualities that qualify me for the Harrison McCain scholarship.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
My passion for public service initiated in my third grade reading class. It was there that I volunteered for “Reading Together USA”, a program to help younger children learn to read. The joy and delight that I felt from witnessing my students’ progress was unprecedented to any feeling that I ever felt before, and I knew from that point forward that my life would be committed to serving the public. Although my forms (TRYING TO SAY WAYS LIKE 1st pre-med then law) of serving others may have changed, the trend of service has remained constant through high school, college, and even my career.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) gives people in low-income communities the assistance needed to ensure their nutritional requirements are met and to purchase food they need for their families continued good health, but at a high cost to the American taxpayer due to factors allowing participation entry. Not only does SNAP provide food health assistance to families in need, but also gives those in need the opportunity to buy garden seeds with SNAP benefits. Also, SNAP allows qualifying families to utilize their benefits at participating famer’s markets throughout the United States. Once pre-requisite requirements are met and families are qualified, SNAP food benefits are transferred onto the state allocated Lone Star Card. The
I am applying for this scholarship to help me pay for college. As everyone knows it is very expensive and sometimes hard to pay for all the things involved. My family is doing everything they can to help pay for my college. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced is applying for the FAFSA. My parents do make a lot of money, but they both have student loans they have to pay. My mom has two majors so she has a lot of money to pay back to school. While applying to FAFSA, these factors are not taken into consideration so we did not get as much money as we had hoped. If I am selected to win this scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated and would help me in many ways to continue my education.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
