The Woodson Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization, after months of negotiation will be developing a new agency with the National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education (NCPIE) that will help improve the organization. The main improvements mainly are focused on the teachers. The teacher employee turnover rate is high and they are losing their enthusiasm for helping the students. Low student performance and crime are also areas that need to be improved amongst the school system.
Problem Identifications
The primary problem the foundation is having has to do with the students. With low student performance and high crime rate is the main reason why the schools are not performing at the levels that they should. When the students are not performing at the level that’s expected, the teachers then have to work harder in the classroom to increase the students school performance. This is what leads us to the secondary problem, teacher high turnover rate. Teachers are continuously leaving the classroom because they are motivated enough to deal with the schools falling scores and they’re burnout. As an individual, it’s only so much you can deal with and these teachers obviously can’t handle what’s going on with the schools current situation.
Solutions
The primary solution that the Woodson Foundation wants to happen is to integrate both organizations. Integrating these organizations will help create a positive, learning environment for the students. The students will have a support group available to them to ensure they receive the best education possible. Integrating both organizations will also give the teachers a feeling that better options will be available for them as well. The second solution is to create an after scho...

National Coalition for Parental Involvement in Education is responsible for ensuring that the parents learn about why this integration is necessary. As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child; it takes the school along with the parents, to make these changes happen. The parents have to motivate their students to want to do better, to want to increase their test scores and their overall school performance. Some parents do not realize that they’re their children’s number one key to their success. Getting their children to develop their attitude and motivate them to do better. The schools can help communicate this need to the parents
Connecting people to the success of the district is one matter, but asking them to support it financially is another. The district is growing in size and is in need of new facilities and internal academic structures to support the growth. As the district continues to grow she is challenged with ensuring that the schools continue to interact with each other and do not return to the independent silos they were when she arrived. Ms. Hall realizes that she is the internal and external face of the district. She takes that very seriously and therefore, tires to view challenges as opportunities and successes as building blocks and
Our current project, "The W.J. Bryan Primary Learning Center", under construction, is located a block away from the main building, to house a pre-k and eight kindergarten classes. In addition, an administrator, lead teacher, cafeteria, and complete office staff will staff the new center. Its doors are scheduled to open to staff, students, and parents in April, 1998.
The school’s “Making dreams happen...one student at a time program of transformation," supported by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, began in 2001, when the school was divided into two small schools, each led by a team of teachers who also act as advisors to help students take advantage of experiences and internships congruent with their interests and passions.
The Foundations Program was created to give freedom to districts to fund their own schools. The thought behind this program was that if a district wants to improve its schools, it can fund them itself rather than rely on the state. The problem is, while this program worked fine for wealthier districts, the poorer districts still lacked the proper funding to improve these schools. A way to fix this issue could be for all districts to work together and create partnerships in order to create one big fund to aid all schools in said

The neighborhoods youth understanding their teachers, principles, and law enforcement officials have their best interests at heart, allows for these individuals to recognize they can accomplish any goal they set. Once a foundation, is built amongst the schools, city officials can address other areas of concern in these neighborhoods. For example, establishing a “community development plan” with local residents to earn an income while demolishing abandoned buildings within these communities. Providing developmental land for these neighborhood. Each step is necessary, however without a solid foundation with emphasis on youth and education, areas such as these will continue to witness large amounts of crime and the depletion of their community.
...m. Ultimately it is the goal of this program to partner with families to close the educational gap that currently exists. We must remember to ready our children for the world ahead of them from day one. "The future won't wait for us, and if we don't invent it, someone else will" (Friedman 399). Start with inventing a sense of desire to learn in your children.
Over the course of this class we were required to read, “Foundations of Education”. Which has shed light on the knowledge of how schools are ran, and some of the obstacles that are presented in the midst of daily operations. With that being said some chapters from the book are represented in the Student Improvement Plan of Chapel Hill High School. The chapters of the book are listed as followed. Chapter 1 Motivation, Preparation, and Conditions for the Entering Teacher, Chapter 3 Global Origins of American Education, Chapter 4 Pioneers of Teaching and Learning, Chapter 6 Philosophical Roots of Education, Chapter 7 Governing and Administering Public Education, and Chapter 12 Providing Equal Educational Opportunity also Chapter 13 The Changing Purposes of American Education. KIPP’s School District still focuses on enforcing a different teaching concept as compared to public schools. They implement bright colors, singing, and hand motions into everyday learning. This keeps the students attention and helps with their involvement. KIPP’s business level strategy would still be focused differentiation. They focus on kids that live in poverty and are failing in a normal public school. Most of the children that live in these areas are minorities. “There is 58,000 students, more than 88 percent qualify for free or reduced-price meals at school, and 95 percent are black or Latino” (Monahan). With most of the students living in poverty, the teachers need to pay special attention to them and have commitment plan with the student’s parent. This means the teachers need to put in more hours than most teachers in public schools. This has caused a low retention rate for KIPP teachers. There are also major issues with funding and management. These are some of the major issues shown in the 2012/13 case
Few resources in the school to dedicate to improving parent connectedness to the school, financial skills or parent support for their children’s academic growth.
The school achieved Foundation status in September 2009. This means that it is a state-funded school and the governing body has greater freedom in the running of the school than in community schools. This follows on from the school successfully gaining Media Arts st...
Parent involvement is one of the most influential aspects of student motivation. The parents are the initial teachers of the child before the child goes to school and encounters education through a teacher. If a parent is completely engaged in the learning process with a child, there can be growth between the child and the parent simultaneously. The parents set an example for the child, so that the child understands that help is in the classroom and at home. Alma Wright, a first and second grade teacher, believes that parents in the classroom are a good way to stimulate children. She says, “Their active participation is a positive influence. The school is open for parents to share their talents and motivate their children” (Drew, Olds, and Olds, 1974, p. 71).
To conclude, my research shows a clear link between parental involvement and children performing better in school. Children who's parents are involved in their education are showing better performance and are achieving higher grades. They also show better behaviour, more enthusiasm, ambition and higher levels of engagement. compared with children who's parent are not involved in their education. My research also shows that parental involvement has great benefits for both children and parents in many ways, so much so that the most effective schools are those who encouraged parents to be involved.
School community relationship helps to improve the quality of education for all children. It helps parents and other citizens recognize their responsibility for the quality
