I think the main things you have to look at in this case are; is Marvin a danger to himself, is he a danger to others in the workplace, what can you as a supervisor do to help the situation? It was stated in the brief that he has caused and accident due to carelessness. I think this proves that he is both a danger to himself and others. There is also the added concern of suicide. I think the best approach would be to talk to human resources about the types of counseling is available. You should also look into community groups that provide help for this specific type of situation. There are also religious organizations that help with bereavement, if applicable. When you have appropriate counselors and community services line up, I would then sit down with Mr. Lowery and discuss the situation. I would try to key in on the fact that you are concerned for Marvin. You know he is a good employee and you do not want to lose him. I would then present him with some options on counseling. Make him aware of the fact that if he needs more time, that leave without pay is available. I would then reiterate your concern for his well being and that of his coworkers. Let him know that for any help he needs, that you are there for him. Your first concern is for his welfare.

I would set up a time to talk with Marvin. I would start off by stating the fact that he is a valued employee. You understand the difficulty he may be having with his children, because both he and his spouse works. I would then let him know that you cannot continuously adjust his schedule to accommodate this. If this is going to be as frequent as it has been then Mr. Fletcher will need to use his sick time and/or vacation time to make up for it. You might ask him whether it is possible for his wife to pick up the kids more often. Reiterate that you understand his situation but you have the rest of the department to think about as well.

Those who typically fit that role in society are firefighters, policemen, and soldiers. Those people deserve all the credit and recognition they receive for their courageous acts. However, what about individuals or groups who aren’t necessarily on the “frontlines” physically protecting others and saving lives, but who work extremely hard to improve the lives of others in some way? These everyday people deserve credit as well. After all, to the people they help, these volunteers or activists are heroes. An example of such a group is the Greensboro Four, a few African American college students in the early 1960s who helped change the landscape of segregation in the Jim Crow South.

There are many prisoners sitting in prison today for a crime not committed by them. Sometimes, the law rushes into convictions before getting complete facts. Maybe a small town needed revenge which could lead to a wrong conviction. It could be from “ignorance of the law”. Most are not aware of their rights and what could be said that might falsely incriminate a person. There are also the forced confessions by police who threaten or use scare tactics to get a false confession. Most wrongfully convicted are sitting in prison for witness misidentification. Police not taking the time to get actual proof of guilt have ruined innocent lives. Is it fair for a person to serve time for a crime they did not commit? Why is a person still serving time when the evidence is there proving their innocence? Today, DNA testing has become more evident to solving cases in proving guilt or innocence. I am focusing on a case of three boys convicted of murders with no substantial evidence to prove guilt and how DNA evidence could help them receive an acquittal they have anticipated for eighteen years.
In the case of Michael Buckley, it seemed to be a difficult situation to remedy; however, it would seem that clearly Buckley had experienced a situation of exposure. The exposure was evident, Mr. Buckley’s body covered in a substance known to cause illness and death, e.g., Cancer (Montgomery, 1998) . However; as a result of changes within the New York City Department of Education, I am now placed in a school setting, with a different title, performing the same duties for the School Assessment Team. The team is comprised of a Psychologist and Social Worker. However, based on school enrollment and the number of Special Education students, there could be more than one or two of each discipline.
One of the major problem is you would have to take away time from work and production to have a group meeting. Another is the mother may feel embarrass and feel like you are pointing her out to everyone. Since this scenario may not work I may choose scenario two. Which would be to see what time works best for the mother of the special child. I would first pull her aside and ask her, if she feels like she can talk to me, what is the best time for you? If she has to get her child to a daycare maybe a middle day swift would be better. Or I could see if splitting her swift would work. Have her come in for four hours, then later on have her come back. I would want to make it clear though that she does not have tell me any information and I am only trying to change her work load to help her. Flextime allows for employees to work their work schedule around their personal schedule. This is especially a great benefit for parents. A parent with flextime can ensure they do not have to miss sending their child off to school or a school play or classroom party, because they can flex their work schedule around those things. I had a part-time job with flextime. I was required to work a set number of hours per week and some of those hours were at a specified peak time, but if I needed to come in later or leave earlier for that day, I could adjust my hours around those time. I took advantage of this while my son was in Kindergarten and I never had to miss any of his classroom events. This kept me highly motivated in that job to ensure I was doing the best job possible in order to remain in that position and keep those
