Today the world is at fast pace and people are having a lot of pressures and demands at workplace. A person who suffers from pressures or stresses in other words, their normal psychological and physiological well-being also gets affected. Stress is a body’s process of responding to a task [1]. Stress typically defines a negative condition or a positive condition that can have an influence on a person’s mental and physical well-being [1]. Stress is defined in various forms pressure from the environment, then as pressure within the person; also interaction between the situation and the individual. It is the psychological and physical state that results when the belongings of the individual are not adequate to manage with the demand and pressures of the situation. Stress can undermine the achievement of goals, both for individuals and for organizations [3]. The degree of stress experienced depends on the functioning of two protective physiological mechanisms. First is alarm reaction, that is, when confronted with a threat to our safety, our first response is physiological arousal. Second is adaptation, that is, it allows us to cease responding when we learn that stimuli in the environment are no longer a threat to our safety. There are various signs of stress which includes how you feel, how you think, how you behave and how your body adapts and reacts. There are many types of stress: good stress as eustress, bad stress as distress, acute distress and chronic distress [2]. This study discovers a series of roots of workplace stress and a three-level intervention strategy for managing stress at work. Study would identify the various intervention strategies namely Primary, Secondary and Tertiary that are used to manage stress in the IT sector and would investigate: Do they occur in combination or isolation leading to which reality? In the study, the intervention strategies mentioned are compared with stress parameters defined later in the report. It will examine a person’s stress level and what prevention strategy he/she needs. Also, in case the preventions are occurring separately or in combination is determined.

Workplace stress costs American employers an estimated $200 billion per year in lower productivity, absenteeism, staff turnover, workers' compensation, medical insurance and other stress-related expenses. However, stress may not always be a bad thing. It can stimulate creativity and productivity. The natural pattern of human behavior is to experience a stress-causing event or situation, react to it with increased tension and then return to a normal, relaxed state. The problem occurs when stress is so overwhelming or constant that this pattern is broken. This overwhelming feeling is usually caused by some lack of communication.
Stress by definition is an interaction between individuals and any source of demand (stressor) within their environment. Stress in the work place can cause many individuals harm emotionally and physically. Several reasons for the intense amounts of stress are; too many demands from co-workers, supervisors constantly breathing down your back, elevated noise levels in the work place, lack of knowledge for a particular position, co-workers not upholding their responsibility to help with the task at hand, and favoritism. Workplace stress and burnout is one of the leading problems in healthcare workers today. Stress is a mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. Healthcare leaders today have to meet so many demanding needs and responsibilities. We ask why does stress and burnout play such an important role in today’s society. There are many reasons why it plays an important role in our everyday work and life. There have been studies on ways to detect, prevent, and decrease stress and burnout.

Change is defined as making things different while stress is defined as a dynamic condition in which an individual is confronted with an opportunity, a demand, or a resource related to what the individual desires and for which the outcome is perceived to be both uncertain and important. This paper will focus on the results of research from experts who have analyzed the influence that resistance to change, potential sources of stress, and the consequences of change and stress have on organizations. As part of the results of each study, the authors’ conclude that there is an apparent need for additional research to be performed and the provided recommended approaches suggested in managing change and stress may not address all issues. Stress is a constant burden, and can be detrimental to one’s physical and mental health. However stress can also provide beneficial effects; it can satisfy one’s need for stimulation and challenge, promote personal growth, and can provide an individual with the tools to cope with, and be less affected by tomorrow’s stress (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 93).
