Personality Profile The Multidimensional Personality Questionnaire is a tool often used by professionals to assess a patient’s personality subtypes on a rating scale of 20 to 80. Under the higher order temperament factor Positive Emotionality (PEM) there are four trait scales. For the trait scale Well Being, John Wayne Gacy would score a 70. He was an upstanding member of his community, liked by his neighbors and coworkers, and would even attend children’s birthday parties and hospitals dressed as Pogo the Clown (Hickey, 2016). He had a cheerful disposition when facing the public, however, he only receives a 70 because he would, in fact, be subject to violent mood swings. For the trait scale Social Potency, Gacy receives a score of 80. He …show more content…
For glibness, Gacy received a 2. He was an incredibly smooth talker, which led to him being a great salesman. His superficial charm is incredible. For grandiose sense of self-worth, he received a 1. He moved around and changed relationship and career a couple times however, this was mostly in response to his criminal charges. He did not complain about being bored with his life or with school as a child. For pathological lying, he scored a 1. He only lied to keep himself from being incarcerated before he was and after, he made up stories to say that he was framed. For conning/manipulative, he scored a 1. Gacy used his business as a way to find victims. He would also entice his victims by promise of sex or employment (Hickey, 2016). For lack of remorse, Gacy scored a 2. He expressed no regret at all for any of his actions, he even blamed the victims and their parents for them being such easy targets. For shallow affect, Gacy scored a 1. Raised as an only child, Dwayne Micheal Carter Jr or more commonly referred to as Lil Wayne, was born September 27th, 1982, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carter’s mother was only 19 years old when he was first born. He was being raised by both his mother and father until his father abandoned them while Dwayne Jr. was only two years old. After being abandoned by his biological father, his mother was forced to take care of him on her own and survive in the crime infested community of Holly grove, New Orleans. Even though he divorced his mother and remarried, his father forced the two live with his own mother and came by to abuse Lil Wayne’s mother on a consistent basis. This situation went on for three years until Lil Wayne’s mother eventually remarried and relocated to a different part of town. Growing up he did very well in school. He was actually enrolled in his school’s gifted program at a point and received top grades. He got into music at a very young age and wrote his first rap song at the age of eight. Lil Wayne had the drive to be the best and successful at his craft since he first began. At the age of nine he was challenging others twice his age and older at rapping. He would consistently go to neighborhood parties or events to rap and most of the time he was better then whatever adult he was going against. As a testament to this, at the age of nine he start receiving attention from one of the two co-founders of his future label, Slim Williams. From Slim, he then received other co-founder, Bryan Williams, phone number and what he did with it after that was truly caught the Bryan’s attention. He continuously called the number over and over leaving rap songs on the voicemail of Williams until he agreed to meet him in person...

The “Big Five” factors are today one of the most-used scales for measuring personality; these factors are conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, openness, and extraversion. However, despite the widespread use of this scale, it is still debated whether or not it, or any personality test, can truly offer a complete picture of a person. To test this, I will use one of my best friends, Amanda, as an example.
The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory is an assessment of a true and false questionnaire that is constructed to assess psychiatric patients on twenty clinical scales that are combined in basic personality patterns, pathological personality disorders and clinical symptom syndromes (Millon, 1982). Though this assessment has been used for diagnostic purposes, authors such as McCabe (1984), Morey, Waugh and Blashfield (1985), have considered the MCMI very similar to that of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, from the (DSM-III) from the American Psychiatric Association (1980) and some-what problematic. Widiger, et al. (1985) and Millon (1985) argued that, even though many of the inventory items in the MCMI assessment do not relate to the DSM-III standards for personality disorders, it does not signify that the test is useless in calculating DSM-III diagnoses.
From a methodological perspective, this model presents a serious threat to the reliability and validity of personality assessments. The potential influence of psychopathology on personality assessments would preclude the consistency (i.e., reliability) of those measures. A clinical implication is that assessments completed at hospitalization intake are likely impacted by psychopathology; results must then be interpreted with caution. However, if assessments should be administered at the end of treatment to get a more accurate depiction of personality after the disorder has (hopefully) remitted, clinicians are left with less initial information about the patient. This will create problems for treatment planning, particularly with regard to whether a personality disorder or Axis I disorder should be
As stated previously the name of the selected test is the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III. This test is authored by Theodore Millon, PhD, DsC, with Carrie Millon, PhD, Roger Davis, PhD, and Seth Grossman, PsyD (Millon, Millon, Davis & Grossman, 2006). This current edition has added the new Grossman facet Scales for the Clinical Personality Patterns and Severe Personality Pathology scales (Millon, et al., 2006). The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III or MCMI-III for short is a psychological assessment tool created to provide information on psychopathology, this includes specific disorders outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV...
With this approach, scoring her on the five dimensions of the Trait Perspective could capture Marilyn’s personality. In assessing Marilyn’s traits, it would be easy to grade her on the different dimensions of personality. In applying “The Big Five Model”, Marilyn would score low in conscientiousness and agreeableness and highest in the traits of extroversion, openness, and neuroticism (Friedman & Schustack, 264). Marilyn created an outgoing persona that belied her true personality where she was able to hide her depression and insecurities that in turn enabled her substance abuse. On the surface Marilyn appeared to have it all, but in always looking to find herself Marilyn became erratic and unstable not only in relationships, but also in her work. Her instability contributed to her impulsiveness and lack of dependability allowing Marilyn’s career to quickly suffer and her life to spiral out of control ultimately leading to her
Self-report personality inventories such as these allow for a comparison of various traits within an individual to other people’s qualities (Nevid, 2015, p. 435). Additionally, this form of testing is inexpensive to administer and score. Another benefit of these types of tests is the likelihood that one will be honest, due to the lack of face-to-face communication with an interviewer (Nevid, 2015, p. 436). Lastly, this form of testing also offers the possibility of boosting one’s confidence level, because of the positive wording that does not focus on the negative aspects of one’s personality (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 21). Nevertheless, negative factors remain, such as the results of these tests have the ability to change based on one’s mood, which may have been the reason for the variance in my testing results. According to an article by Vox media, fifty percent of testers had a changed result in as little as five weeks after the first testing experience (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 24). These self-reported tests depend on the truthfulness of the individual taking the test, thus they rely on the self-judgment of one’s opinion (Nevid, 2015, p. 435) Additionally, these tests which are bias, measure a single dimension of personality (Nevid, 2015, p.

Clark (2005) found three temperament dimensions that underlie both personality and psychopathology: negative affectivity, positive affectivity, and disinhibition. Her theory is that these temperaments differentiate during development, becoming specific traits, and that the sharing of these traits with certain environmental factors leads to specific personality-disorder associations. Her temperament dimensions bear a resemblance to factor analytic studies that have found DSM disorders to divide into two or three dimensions: negative affectivity (internalization), externalization (disinhibition), and psychotic experiences (Widiger & Samuel, 2005; Wright et al., 2013). Mood, anxiety, and many personality disorders map onto the negative affectivity dimension, while substance use and antisocial disorders map onto the externalization dimension (Widiger & Samuel,

Psychopathology is ‘the study of the origin, development, and manifestations of mental or behavioural disorders’ (Berry, 2011). There are four main components to diagnosing mental illness, or psychopathology, which are social dimension, behavioural dimension and the thought and emotions dimensions (Kowalczyk). All components have an impact on each other and each component has a profound affect on the other. Social issues are influenced by behaviours, behaviours are influenced by thoughts and emotions and emotional issues colour social situations (Kowalczyk). The social dimension regards the individual’s interpersonal connection with the public and others, the behavioural dimension looks at the different actions taken by the individual and
While there are various tests that may correlate with personality functioning, the Rorschach addresses personality functioning, and also allows the clinician to observe the client’s behavior, feelings, and thoughts while they engage in the assessment process (Gacono, Evans & Viglione, 2002). The Rorschach is a beneficial tool in various settings such as: the work place, military settings, judicial settings, and clinical settings. The Rorschach is an assessment tool that allows for specificity in the data that are gathered related to personality patterns and reduces impression management. Though the Rorschach has its weaknesses, it appears to have strengths that allow it to continue as a beneficial measure for psychological
I would say that it's safe to say that the Golden Personality test is rather accurate. I recall my principal quoting me as a "No nonsense type of gal who is probably still wearing her fatigues under her gown." when I graduated in the Michigan Theatre out of T.A. Wilson Academy. That stood true since I was enrolled in Army Junior R.O.T.C my junior year of high school. They have taught me a lot of things that is a big reason of why I am the way I am today. I still remain greateful today for the valuable lessons they have taught me, and I still find myself still abiding by a lot of the ethics that were instilled in me. The quiz mentions practicality, well, practicality is a must. That includes exhausting every avenue
