The Meaning behind My Name My name is Gianna Pilar Salazar. I used to have a few nicknames growing up like Nana, Gana, Pillies, or just G. My friends mostly gave me these names, besides two, which were from my dad and brothers. I never really cared for nicknames much, it was never a big deal for me. Every now and then someone will call me by a nickname. I honestly prefer to be called by my first name; it is very unique and not original like most. My first name is Italian, and it means God is gracious. My characteristics are humanitarian, giving nature, selflessness, obligations, and creative expression. I work well with people, and have potential to inspire. This suggests that I could successfully teach or counsel. This is pretty crazy because that is exactly what I was wanting to do, but I was not completely sure about it. My home and family are likely to be a strongest focus of my life. Friendship, love, and affection are high on my list of priorities for a happy life. If I had …show more content…
My mom said that she used to always watch a soap opera when she was younger. There was a little girl named Gianna in the show, ever since then she kept the name Gianna with her and hoped she had a baby girl to name her that. My middle name is Spanish and comes from my mom’s sister, Pilar. I don’t believe my mom ever had another name in mind, it has only been Gianna. I remember my mom telling me that they spelled my name wrong at the hospital; they had forgotten to put two N’s. So she made my dad turn back so they could correct my name. My name was too important to her for my name to only have one N. In my opinion, there is not anything negative to say about my name. My name is unique and not original. If I had a child I would not want to give them an original name. I would want my children to be different, and have an unusual name like mine. I highly doubt my family would not mind what I would name my
In the article “The Name Is Mine” by Anna Quindlen, she explains her story about her name, why she chose to keep it, and why it has such meaning to her. As a result of keeping her maiden name, there were many positive and negative aspects that went along with it.
A name given to a person at birth is out of his or her control. Esperanza had no choice in the name she was given. Changing her name would give her some control.
Everybody always has two names: one from their parents and one from their friends. The name that is given by
As a young girl, I was never fond of the name Anna. The name came along with too much baggage.. Unknowingly, people would constantly call me the wrong name, and some people, disregarding my opinion, even created strange nicknames for me. Over the years, I have been called a variety of names including Annie, Ann, Anna, Annabelle, Anne Frank, banana, banana boat, etc. Frankly, there are just too many variations of the name “Anna”. Being an extremely common name, almost everywhere I go, whether it be school or the grocery store, I always seem to find another “Anna”. Although nameberry.com tells me that “Anna” means grace, it actually means unique, intelligent, and affectionate.
All the personality tests I’ve taken in class, such as sigi3 and DWYA suggest I could pursue a career in my chosen field. Based on my personality type I like caring for people and “helping others reach their full potential” (Do What You Are 2014). Because of my desire to help people and my attention to detail pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner would be perfect for me.
First, by reading over my results it was very helpful to understand why I like putting others before myself, defending those who need it, and always serving others because I am the defender and that’s what 13% of the people around the world do. It is also helpful to understand why I am shyer and introverted because I put others before myself and I serve them. I also felt that by knowing what I am stronger at or weaker of so I know how to approach any situation in the future. The one thing that I found to be least helpful is that even though I know my negative traits, it will be very hard to break those habits because those qualities define who I am. Some of my most accurate responses were supportive, reliable, being a great family man and husband, caring, imaginative and observant, loyal, enthusiastic, hardworking and an admirable employee. Altogether, there was nothing that does not define who I am. These results for me were actually highly
The middle name that appears on my birth certificate is Cristina and I’m quite fond of my middle name because to me the name sounds utterly cheerful and friendly. Maria and Cristina complement each other. Many people when I tell them how my middle name is spelled they tend to believe my mom made a mistake and spelled my name incorrectly. The truth is she meant to spell it like that not because she decided to be slightly unique and spell my name without the letter h but because she decided to commemorate someone or something.
Well my Messas name was Nole William, and we were named for him. But when we was freed, we were told to take freed names.
I have always wanted to help people. This career will help me to do just that and also make me happy about what I am doing. I once had a person tell me. “Don’t be afraid to lend a helping hand”. I was identified as a Guardian by the Keirsey Temperament Sorter II. A guardian is a person that can have a lot of fun with friends, but they are quite serious about their duties and responsibilities (Keirsey.) The Multiple Intelligence Inventory listed my strong points as being naturalistic, body/kinesthetic, mathematics, and music (Multiple.) Although these skills ranged close to one another, they will definitely help me to become successful in the career that I have decided to pursue.
The first of these characteristics is my hard working mentality, and I am sure that this characteristic is thrown around a lot by candidates but I believe that I truly work harder than most people are willing to. I have had to earn every ounce of everything that I currently have. Whether it was finally getting into Pitt, or playing football at the DII college level the only reason I have ever been able to attain these achievements is that I put in the time, and worked harder than even I thought was possible for myself, I was never the most naturally gifted person in the world, I had to work hard, or I would not be in the position to even apply for a position such as this. Another thing that I feel differentiates myself is that I have experience in many different academic disciplines, I was not that student that simply took my major classes, and easy classes to get through school. I have taken and have a ton of interest in many different topics such as Political Science, and History. I feel that these multifaceted interests, and course history make me a great candidate for the
One of my strongest qualities is having empathy for others. People open up to me very easily, including those who don’t let others get emotionally close to them. My passion to help others has evolved to become an integral part of the educated, diversified and motivated woman that I am today. I have always thought my purpose in life is to uplift and take care of others. I thrive on the opportunity to solve complicated
It’s kind of hard to believe that I would change my name to Lucrecia because I didn’t really like my mother’s name until recently. I always thought her name was weird and unusual. I never met anyone else with that name. Now, I would be more than happy to change my name to Lucrecia, after my mother, because she means a great deal to me.
For me, it didn’t click that I can turn these characteristics and skills into a career that I would enjoy until I started meeting regularly with my High School Counselor, Mrs. Corbin. I met with Mrs. Corbin once a day for about an hour in order to receive my community service hours that were required for graduation. Much like me, she has a passion for helping others and she carried me through my entire senior year. She would show my how to fill out college applications, help determine which college was the best fit for me, we spoke a lot about what major I should consider, and give me advice or just listen to what was going on in my life. She really inspired me to be on this path that I am today because I want to give others the help, love, and support she gave me. She recognized my desire to help others and “people person” skills and would always say “You’ll miss your calling in life if you don’t become some sort of counsellor”. That phrase always
Remember that a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
The personal qualities that I equip for the social work profession is the ability to work effectively with people from diverse populations. I was born and raised in a community composed of diverse populations which has given the training/knowledge to become a social worker. During the internship and the volunteering, I learn to be empathy with other people. I have what I takes to be a social worker because I want to help
