The middle name that appears on my birth certificate is Cristina and I’m quite fond of my middle name because to me the name sounds utterly cheerful and friendly. Maria and Cristina complement each other. Many people when I tell them how my middle name is spelled they tend to believe my mom made a mistake and spelled my name incorrectly. The truth is she meant to spell it like that not because she decided to be slightly unique and spell my name without the letter h but because she decided to commemorate someone or something. When I researched my name I discovered that Cristina is derived from Latin origins meaning “follower of Christ.” It is mostly used in English, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish speaking countries. My middle name at one point was a common name the way it is originally spelled, Christina. However every country has their own way of spelling Cristina. …show more content…
I sat there on the sofa next to her thinking that I have always known that my mom gave my middle name because when she was around nine years old she liked naming her dolls Maria Cristina and wanted to give her first daughter that name. I wanted to confirm my credence so I asked my mom, “Mom, why is Cristina my middle name?” “ It was my sister’s name,” she said. “ I thought my aunt’s name was Josefina?” I said. What my mom said next came to me of a surprise. “No, I named you after my other sister.” Right then I realized which sister she was talking about. My uncle had told me before that when I was born, he as well as my grandma and my grandpa thought that I looked like my grandma’s daughter. I remember my uncle telling me when I was younger that my grandma when she gave birth the doctor told her that her baby had died soon after birth. I never thought of asking what her name was but I understand that my mom wanted to honor her
My full name is Jason Accardi Junior. I was confirmed in the Catholic Church at the age of 14 and received the name John Bosco for my confirmation Saint. The reason I was named Jason because of my father Jason. I do not have a middle name because my father does not have a middle name; therefore for me to be a junior, I could not have a middle name either. The reason my father wanted to name me after him was because it was the only name he could picture me as being. My mother wanted other names for me but my dad was determined and had his mindset to name me after him. He wanted to start a tradition or a legacy of the name Jason through the Accardi bloodline.
"You know as well as me yhou was named after you aunt Dicie." I said.
Well my Messas name was Nole William, and we were named for him. But when we was freed, we were told to take freed names.
When Betty Smith needed a copy of her birth certificate to get a passport, she was surprised to discover her name listed as Sophia. Her mother could speak little English when she had Smith. When she went to tell about the birth, the doctor kept shouting "name?" at her and the confused mother thought he meant her name so she said, Sophie. Smith was baptized as Elizabeth Lillian Wehner, her mother refers to her in her letters as Lizzie or Littie, her schoolmates wrote to her as Elizabeth or
My mom gave the honors of naming to my dad. My dad was then debating before the birth either to give me a foreign name or an American name. Originally my name was Gia Bao Dao and was out of
The origin of the word myth seems to be a myth in itself. Myths have generally originated from a Greek history that used an oral tradition to explain events that occurred before the written word. Often supernatural beings or fictitious characters were used to explain popular ideas concerning phenomena's of nature or the history of people. The myths that were carried on from generation to generation were often very imaginative in an attempt to spark the interest of young listeners. These would be told at social gatherings. The main purpose of a myth was to relay historical information among groups. Early myths often dealt with the origin of man, customs, religious rights, incidents involving the lives of gods, stories of culture heroes, adaptations of old world myths, or the retelling of biblical stories.
Every time I open a Word Document and proceed to type my name, a red squiggly line appears under it, to inform me that I’ve spelled my name wrong. This happens every time and I find it so annoying, but trust me I’m highly skilled in spelling my name. I’ve never thought about if my name fits me until I began working on this essay. I’ve never had a problem with my name; I feel my first name Bria, suites me.
I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and our tradition when it comes to last names differs from the one in the United States. In the Dominican tradition, each person carries two last names, but only the first last name of each parent would be transferred to a child. The first last name is acquired through the fraternal side, while the second last name comes from the maternal side. So my future children would carry their father’s first last name as their first last name, and then my first last name as their second.
The view of identity seems to be defined by facial features and social constructed views. Depending on the recent look of someone it may just be more then just color but also background. In this essay I will explain how I relate to some recent views based on philosophers I may agree and disagree with in order to describe my identity. Identity is much more then just being labeled as a race, it can be based on much more.
Identity can be described as the way we view ourselves; the way that we distinguish ourselves from others while also comparing our similarities. In other words identity is what makes someone unique and average at the same time. To start off with I was born and raised in Jamaica for 6 years with my parents, but due to the fact that my parents were offered an opportunity to attend school in America they dove for a chance of a better life. My first home was in Jefferson, Missouri where it seemed like it snowed every day. White sheets of snow would cover every inch of the city, no stone or rock was left without an inch of snow. The city was so beautiful to me because it would always light up in front of my eyes. The people there was so nice that
`Were we? ... I believe I was relating to her some ridiculous stories of an old Irish uncle of mine. Your sister loves to laugh.'
Aunt Leslie then snapped me out of my deep thought asking whether I was okay. I told her I was even if it was obviously a complete lie. "So shall we go back to Geraldine tomorrow morning? Or would you like to leave in the evening?"
Imagine a place of complete control of every action during any given day. This unattainable goal goes under the rug; however, this elusive place is attainable only in one 's mind. The dictating factor of all human actions lies within the emotion which derives from the inner depths of the sea. The sea monster which swims through the human body, leeching on to our brains and controlling them. Through the sea monster antagonizing fear into human`s consciousness, this brief attack dictates everyday actions. Fear, expressed from human responses to stressful stimulus activates the flight or fight response inside our brain. This triggers without our conscious awareness as this occurs as an automatic response. A human response in which requires no
Rational. Not the first adjective I would use to describe myself, but when people call me “Alyssa”, people are telling me that I am literally not insane. Strangely, even though I never thought of myself as logical, I love working on reasoning puzzles and ace tests based off of rationality. Plus, I certainly am not crazy (I think). Perhaps my parents were determining my future when they read the special name off of a magazine and knew that they just had to name their firstborn child that. However, this “complicated” name comes with many variations, such as “A-leee-saa” (by my parents, who speak English as their second language), “Liz” (by my friends, who are too lazy to call me by my name, which is just so long), and “A-lai-sa” (by one of Chinese teachers who couldn’t pronounce my name correctly, which resulted in everyone else also calling me by that name in a joking manner).
