Matthew L. Sanders discusses the necessity of taking responsibility for one’s own education in a section of his book Becoming a Learner: Realizing the Opportunity of Education. In this section, Sanders explains how he initially blamed an instructor for not teaching him sufficiently and then learned that “No matter what kind of teacher you have, no matter what kind of class you are taking, if you are a learner you will set out to understand the material and create opportunities for success.” This statement is true and the concept can be applied through many methods to create success for students if they are willing to put forth effort.

Although we see many immigrants who drop out of school and have a challenging time adjusting to their new lives it is up to the teacher to help and inspire these kids to be the best they can be. Some of the ways teachers can do this are to learn about communication, the culture the student has, and using a support system through the school and with the children’s families. It is a difficult task to comprehend what these children have been through and even harder to make a connection with them. That is why all teachers need these resources and the drive to see children like Enrique succeed in education and throughout

In order for true learning to occur, the instructional unit must be designed to meet the needs of the learners represented within the group. During a learner analysis, a curricular designer examines the learners as a group. Since comprehensive curricular units designed to teach the foundational skills of keyboarding are not readily available, a full learner analysis will give the curricular designer a blueprint for creating such an instructional unit. This learner analysis will identify key areas that are instrumental to be included within the instructional unit; thus, increasing the likelihood of student success by meeting the individual needs of each student, as well as the group in entirety.
Becoming a Learner by Matthew L. Sanders is a book written with the intention of teaching college students how to make the most out of the opportunity for an education. Sanders states that the primary purpose of college “isn’t learning a specific set of professional skills; the primary purpose of college is to become a learner” (2). In preparing for college, I found the book a helpful guide in realizing that the way that you approach your work is just as important as the work you do. In the book, Sanders emphasizes that attaining a college degree does not necessarily make someone valuable to society.

Additionally, Engin (2009) insists that learners need to know what types of motivation they have them to achieve greater success. There are two important types of language learning motivation, which are the integrative and instrumental motivation. Gardner (2001) defines integrative motivation as willingness to be a member of the target language’s community (p. 9). Those learners have strong interests in the target language and its culture. My parents realized that living in the foreign country without having the ability of reading and speaking English is a significant disadvantage for the immigrants like them.. Indeed, english is a dominant language which allows people to open their mind and access the modern innovations. People can have more occansion to reach the new and developed perception if they are able to use English proficiently. I always encourage my parents to learn English and explain to them that this language will give them many benefits in

Most of these are things natives of the language don’t actually realize because of how often it is used. But it can be a very complicated and confusing process to learn and understand the rules and all the words that break that rule. To conclude English is very important to the American way of life and among other nations that have English has their native language. Even though there are advantages as well as disadvantages, the need for international language for communication, politics, economics and security is necessary and English is the best “language candidate” for that function. English is a language spread all over the world and it is used by millions and millions of speakers. According to my opinion, people should use English as a tool to communicate with all cultures but every country must keep their culture and language is a great part of it.
