My host of the job shadow was the manager Catreece Downing. She manages all of the people that work there she doesn’t have a boss. She makes the schedule and she opens up the store and gets everything ready for the day. She also has to do retailing and signs for the store and she also helps workers and does their job if they can’t make it to work, whether the case would be that they are sick or something has gone wrong with their family. She has her own office and most of the time she is in there filling out paperwork or writing checks for people. The part of the job that interested me the most was the part about how the bananas get ripe by themselves, they put this chemical spray on them and it helps them get ripe faster because they get them unripe when they buy them, and it takes them a while to get ripe enough to eat. And another interesting thing was learning about how they put out the items, they put them out by the season that is going on. So during the winter you would have your fruits or foods that would be appropriate for that season and when like spring comes around you will have your berry’s and …show more content…
What strengths do you need to work on for the job? “ The things that you learn in school that you need for the job would be math, reading, and other classes that you will learn in high school. You use math and reading the most though, if you don’t know how to do those things you won’t be successful in that job.” “I need to make my communication skills better because you might know someone every once in awhile but most of the people that you help you don’t know them at all.” And I also have to get better at working with people better, as in working as a team. Some other careers that I thought of was like working at a car place where you sell cars, you have to communicate with people and you have to know how to read and do math and also know how to write and have good
They look at the raw materials that is used for the bake shop and meat department and make sure that there is enough stock in the warehouse to last until there next bulk order comes in. Then that bulk order is broken down into smaller but still bulk orders for the different stores to use. Some products are delivered straight from the suppliers warehouse to the store. Thirdly, you have to be flexible with changes that could occur, with new policies or rules that occur in the work place. Being able to adapt to change will help get you praise from higher positions as well as help you stand out. Next, the article suggests that you market the skills that you possess at all times, even after you've gotten the job, by having enough education and experience to offer when given the...
“Success requires more than talent.”(Clifton, Anderson, Schreiner, 2006) I will focus on developing my strengths/talents daily and using them more in depth. StrengthsQuest suggests engaging in happy healthy relationships, valuing my strengths and talents, and remembering my purpose will lead to fulfilling my goals ( Clifton, Anderson, Schreiner, 2006)
Some say to make an impact on the globe you use the next generation. To create a great impact you teach them goodness and kindness, teachers are truly the key to a better future. For my job shadow experience, I went to Southgate Anderson High School to job shadow their band director, Toby Kmett. While I was there I observed what it was like to be a teacher, more specifically a full time band teacher. I say the term teacher because you may not teach band one hundred percent of the time. Who and the way you teach can change monthly.

I selected to job shadow my mom actually because I couldn’t find anyone to shadow in the career that I wanted, so my only other choice was to do my mom. I wasn’t really too interested in doing that job at first, but that’s what I needed to do. I spent my day watching and helping my mom checking out stock systems and how it works. I was also able to use the office equipment. I wore nice black pants with a nice sweater. We left the building for lunch, and went somewhere else to eat, like my mom does a lot of the time. During the interview, I asked her the questions, and she answered, explaining as she went along, and I was not able to catch it all. So I learned a whole lot about the job by doing the interview. I left at about 2:00 to 3:00 (I am not too sure exactly when) because my mom had some important work she needed to do, that I really couldn’t help with. My favorite experience that day was actually finding out how stocks work, saving money, and information like that.
After reading Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath, I learned that there are thirty four different themes that one could have as strengths. Each strength has its own positive that allow people to better work with the people who have this style of strengths. Another key topic that I learned is that everyone has their own types of personal strengths. The main principle that was taken away from reading this book was that the old phrase of “You can be anything you want to be” is not a true statement (p. 6). We are all taught this idea at a very young age and it tends to stick with us for the rest of our lives. Forced by the past, most people are required to try to fix their weaknesses, but not improve on our strengths. We cannot truly be anything we want to be because we are not built this way. We are programmed to tend to stick with things that we are good at and when thrown at a task similar to the one we are good at we do not just excel at the other task. By sticking to increasing our strengths that we already have instead of fixing our weaknesses, we will be able to become a better human being because we are better the things in which we are good at.
In Chapter 1, of The Book of Job, God is depicted as a creator, who not only entrusts his faith into his creation but also as a maker, who is extremely proud of his property. Talking specifically about Job, God demonstrates emotions toward his slave, as he converses with Satan. As God talks to one of his sons, he portrays qualities in which he is revealed as a prideful and faithful creator, towards Job.

I had to break out of my own mold and create a person who had the ability to do some of the task listed above in order to obtain a job, keep the job and make money on the job. In some cases I used those skills to defend myself. In doing my research you will find some of the most powerful business woman and men all have the ability to accomplish great things by the tools that they gained from the list above, but as the Devils Advocate, I will always look at both sides of success. This website caught my attention because they pointed out individuals who were both exceptional at communication and some that were not but still managed to achieve their
To begin, I will start off with my strengths, which is listening and responding. Listening can be a very difficult thing have strength in. That is because most of the time, listening isn’t automatic, and additionally most of the time someone can be just hearing something instead of actually listening. I feel that, although it is difficult to do, I am a pretty adequate listener. I know how to listen and respond to situations that I come across. I am great at eye contact, answering questions, and having the appropriate facial

I think we could have the speaker and do the mock interview I suggested toward the end of this e-mail. Shana Cohn CLASS DESIGN Important points, class discussion questions and activities. Part I Job Analysis defined: Identifying lists of activities or tasks associated with the job. Determining the skills needed to perform the job successfully. A well-designed job analysis can help to create a work environment where expectations are clear and future problems can be alleviated through communication. Some detailed benefits of job analysis include: 1. It provides uniform guidelines for dealing with employment selection, compensation, performance standards, and the skills needed for any given position. 2. It lays a foundation for gaining a competitive advantage by identifying training needs for the incumbent employee or an employee entering into the organization. 3. A successful job analysis draws clear boundaries between the employer and employee regarding qualifications, job responsibilities, lines of authority, and ways of preventing or dealing with grievances. 4. It allows employers to hire qualified candidates by linking applicants' skills to the job analysis. Employers can also prove that their requirements for selection are related to the job. The ADA defines a qualified applicant as "one who can perform the essential functions of the job." A job analysis provides the employer with justification of why they chose a particular applicant. Other areas to note: 1. The most common reason for a job analysis is to gather information for job descriptions. The job description should focus on results and outcomes instead of how to accomplish the job, because each person attains results in a different fashion. 2. Preparation for the future is key to dealing with a changing workplace. The job analysis should integrate issues the organization may confront in the future, such as turnover and technology advances that could change its structure. 3. Forecasting HR needs is critical to the success of the organization. These should be assessed with past trends, evaluating the skills of incumbent positions, and being aware of changing skills and requirements. Some questions/activities regarding job analysis: A class activity would be a case study that involves a new person hired into an organization where a job analysis is not utilized. The following questions serve as a guideline for the types of issues that could arise without a clear job analysis.
Employability skills and Career readiness have become an integral part of education. Employers are looking for people with a combination of skills such as soft skills, customer service skills and life skills. Not having sufficient employability skill sets, is one of the main reason for many students not getting selected in campus drives. Focus is more on technical knowledge than soft skills in their curriculum. During the course of their education , required level of importance is not given to key qualities like effective communication, leadership qualities, time management skills, self motivation, problem solving skills and creative thinking.
