Some say to make an impact on the globe you use the next generation. To create a great impact you teach them goodness and kindness, teachers are truly the key to a better future. For my job shadow experience, I went to Southgate Anderson High School to job shadow their band director, Toby Kmett. While I was there I observed what it was like to be a teacher, more specifically a full time band teacher. I say the term teacher because you may not teach band one hundred percent of the time. Who and the way you teach can change monthly. A typical day for a band teacher may not be what you would expect. Being a band teacher still means that you may end up teaching other fine arts classes or even classes that have nothing to do with fine arts. The individual I job shadowed spent their morning with hosting a study hall for two hours. These classes are devoted to helping kids receive help that they may not understand and I do not mind filing the required paperwork and student interaction involved in the field. After attending the job shadow, I am still interested in pursuing this career field. The most interesting or meaningful part of the job to me was to see what improvements the students had picked up during their class under the instructors supervision. I would not mind the environment that I would have to work in and I would still pursue this career to spread the musical skills I have gathered and to be a truly good example for the next generation of young individuals. The level of education required to enter into the field is a basic bachelors of music education degree. You can earn your four year degree or you can go for a masters in music education and training and move up the latter to even be some big director at a college or university. Another factor besides education is how many years of experience you have. These two factors determine what job you get, where it is, and how much you get
Although I usually choose activities to participate in that I enjoy, sometimes I get caught in very boring situations. One of these situations was junior high band. Halfway through my seventh grade year, we received a long-term substitute teacher who was awful. He was awful, aggravating and awkward, and he stole all of the passion for band that I had previously held. If I had been in that situation now I undoubtedly would have quit, however the much more optimistic seventh-grade me managed to put up with the class for two more years hoping it would eventually get better. Like Adams recommends I “forg[ot] about passion” (Adams 2) and continued on unpassionately. After entering high school I am unimaginably glad that I did not quit band. Taking band at Naperville North has provided me with a supportive and amazing group of friends, if not family, and many opportunities I may not have gotten otherwise.
After graduating from high school, I entered Soochow University, whose music department is among the best in Taiwan. During these four years, I had numerous opportunities to perform on stage. Realizing early on that performance is the lifeblood of musicians, I joined as many orchestras, wood bands, and brass quintets as possible to acquire performance experience. Having numerous performing chances, and enjoying each of them, inspired me to become a professional musician in the future. Besides taking part in performing activities, I also used my experiences and knowledge to teach students. Believing that teaching others how to appreciate the beauty of life is fulfilling, I teach both to give knowledge and to enhance my own artistic ability. Because I so enjoyed my conversations with students, I remain committed to teaching and trying to convince others of the limitless joys of music.
I have had the pleasure of being involved in music from a young age. My schools did not offer music programs, but my parents saw an opportunity in music education so they decided to look for private instruction. The lessons were not cheap, but my parent’s investment was well worth it. As I got older, I became more involved in music and missed the fact that my schools did not provide a music program that I could join. More than anything, I wanted my other peers to experience what I was going through with music. A lot of them did not have this opportunity.
Becoming a music conductor is a very competitive task. A future conductor must have an early childhood musical experience. It might involve learning how to play music on an instrument. Then they must develop many types of skills involving a controlled behavior. They also have to job shadow a conductor that has a professional status. Next they must have a (“Masters degree in music theory, composition or conducting”). To be able to get inside at good music program is held with a strict audition (BLS). While in school they must develop purpose and operation of every musical instrument in the ensemble (Wisegeek).
My dream is to make a difference in someone's life in the health field one day. For this job shadow I shadowed a registered nurse. It was the best experience I've had. I learned that its not easy but its rewarding in the end. Helping people stay alive or taking care of them can really make a difference in your life as well.
In perspective, the most crucial job has to be a Recording Engineer. Aside from the qualifications the workplace is “mostly indoors in soundproof rooms,” and the “hours are irregular” (Career Cruising). Having the capability to handle the stress and sporadic work times shows just how rigorous the job is. For my Job Shadowing assignment, I choose to shadow James Mascolo at Ongoing Operations in Hagerstown, MD. Ongoing Operations is a disaster recovery company that works with numerous Credit Unions and other entities to ensure that in the event of a disaster their data is secured. They are a very small company that offers these disaster recovery solutions all over the United States. Along with disaster recovery, they offer normal help desk functions to certain clients, such as trouble shooting computer issues to making sure all their backups are update and are working properly. At Ongoing Operations they also offer their customers a sales team to inform them of what hardware and other services they might need to efficiently run their business with technology. Restoration Development In my job shadowing experience, I have observed Shawn Hooker from AM/PM Restoration Company. His job title with the company is Project Manager. “Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements” (Varajaoa & Cruz-Cunhac, 2013, p. 3342). He handles supervision and management of the restoration projects by directing all the field activities. He is the person that showed me how the restoration world revolves. Within the leasing office, there are three employees (outside of maintenance). These three employees are Angie, Kendal, and Amy. Even though I did not get to see the dynamic with all three of them working together, I can tell that they make a great team. Individually, however, they each have their own responsibilities. Aside from duties that only property managers are responsible for, the team splits up various tasks that need to be completed. Angie is responsible for social media, asset management, and new construction (such as phase 2). Kendal is responsible for resident communication, delinquency, and renewals. Amy is still new, but she focuses her spare time on collections and renewals.

Forever into our future, we will tell stories and reminisce of the memorable teachers and classrooms that taught us so diligently.
