There is local desire satisfactionism, which is the idea that if desires are satisfied, one is happy. Then there is whole life satisfactionism. It means that to be happy is to have one desire satisfied. This is the overarching desire that your most important desires be satisfied. It is prioritized assessment of one’s life as a whole. To compare local desire satisfactionism with whole life satisfactionism would be like comparing quality and quantity from a hedonist perspective. According to the dictionary, the definition of dissatisfaction is the quality or state of being unhappy or discontent. Dissatisfaction is a disease that theoretically knows no prejudices, has no cure, and almost everyone has it. This is a global epidemic, that can destroy a man in the time it takes to snap your fingers. Physically most people will be alright but discontent will rot you to the core on the inside. Unfortunately, not being content seems to be a very common part of society today and in the past.
Most people think that the highest end is a life of pleasure. Hedonists have defined happiness as " an equivalent to the totality of pleasurable or agreeable feeling.';(Fox, 3) Some pleasures are good and contribute to happiness. Not all ends are ultimate ends but the highest end would have to be something ultimate; the only conceivable ultimate end is happiness.
Ashley Janowiak Human Happiness and External goods Happiness is a goal every human pursues, yet the ways in which it is pursued differs amongst people. Some believe prosperity will bring them happiness. Others believe material, power, fame, success, or love will bring them happiness. No matter what one believes is the right way to conquer this goal, every person will take their own unique path in an attempt to find it. But what is happiness like?
The pursuit of happiness ultimately leads to disappointment and a lack of satisfaction because people’s cravings can never be entirely fulfilled. Dalai Lama once said “When you are discontent, you always want more, more, more. Your desire can never be satisfied. But when you practice contentment, you can say to yourself, ‘Oh yes – I already have everything that I really need.’” This quote shows that having high expectations of anything leads to disappointment when the expectation is not met. Also, having anticipations for what happiness is makes attained happiness irrelevant and inadequate relative to what one wanted to get
No matter what the world believes personal fulfillment means, the only thing that matters is what the idea means to you. Achieving this goal is neither, bad, nor good, because this preconceived idea of personal fulfillment is false. I believe personal fulfillment is construed, planned and accomplished by you, the individual. Therefore, you as an individual, along with the influences of society, can come to a safe conclusion on how you will achieve personal fulfillment. A safe conclusion would be one you determine that will only benefit you in the future, not a decision that may steer you away from achieving your goal. The world portrays personal fulfillment as a specific lifestyle that one must live. Personal fulfillment is just that, personal. By closely examining your life, observing what society expects of you, and making the right decisions, you will achieve your idea of personal fulfillment.
Health and longevity positively correlated with high life satisfaction which means that individuals with high life satisfaction are more likely to be healthy and live longer (Pressman and Cohen, 2012; Diener and Chan, 2011). It was also reported that people with high life satisfaction have stronger and cardiovascular systems (Pressman and Cohen, 2005). Productivity and effectiveness in the workplace as well as success in career is also attributable to high life satisfaction (Tay, Kuykendall, Diener, 2015). Additionally, individuals with high life satisfaction engage in more physical activities (Huang and Humpreys, 2012). Presence of meaning in life as well as search for meaning in life correlated positively with life satisfaction. It is also notable that the older the respondents are, the meaning in life and presence of meaning in life also increases. Therefore, it is deemed that internal assessment of one’s purpose in life can affect life satisfaction (Santos et al.

Based off of the gratification an individual contains towards their work is job satisfaction. Satisfaction, happen when a person do things as the act of fun or enjoyment rather than because of rewards, promotions, or any other external prods. It is a pleasant or a feeling that the person get when receive or doing something, he or she wanted.
...f being satisfied in life: There is no rule. Each individual has the right to look at things from his own point of view. We can all choose different paths and ways to fulfill our happiness. We can see it in wealth, in the dream-job, or in the people around us. As long as we choose that direction and take those decisions by ourselves, without being influenced by any external thought, happiness is inevitable. Here, I agree with Daniel Gilbert when he said “I don't think that's the problem. The problem is you can't always know what you want.” That is why the most important thing for happiness to be achieved is recognizing our wants and desires because just when we do, we will finally get to say “I am happy with my life!”
Everyone has their own needs and desires. These desires are genuine and authentic in that it affects everyone emotionally, however social relations and technology play a role in shaping peoples needs and desires. This is thoroughly demonstrated in Sherry Turkle’s work, Alone Together, Leslie Bell’s work Hard to Get, and Ethan Watters work The Mega Marketing of Depression in Japan. Specifically, our needs and desires are authentic in that that Jayanthi and Alicia needed to alter their personalities due to their past, and the children needed an emotional companion and found one with robots, however social relations like the Mega Marketing in Japan that created a need for a specific form of treatment for depression demonstrate that outside sources could play a key role in shaping our needs and desires.
