5. Introduction
I have made an attempt to explore a relatively untreated arena of English Language Teaching in India. The long association of Indians and English has proved an advantage for the Indian youth. In the current globalized world, oral communication skills have gained importance. Learning language is not difficult for the Indian learners who have a multi-linguistic background. However, this background causes a difficulty which is reflected in their oral communication. While the written skills are more or less uniform, as they are acquired from books, the oral communicative behavior is diversified. This can be attributed to the absence of a conducible atmosphere to teach/learn Spoken English.

Reading games should be introduced in the classroom. That is, finding phrasal verbs, differentiating the mono, di, tri syllable words, differentiating nouns like common, abstract, animate, inanimate, etc. and verbs like transitive and intransitive in sentence or discourse will be helpful for the development of linguistic competence, which will enhance the reading comprehension of students.
17. Teaching listening comprehension should not be ignored. It may be taught in the following manner: How to understand a context, how to deduce meaning of an unknown item of vocabulary in a context, and how to understand the contextual / situational meanings of words.
18. Tape recorded dialogues could be played to the students so that they could listen to them, then the theme as well as questions may be asked on the basis of the dialogue. This type of practice will help the students' understanding capacity as well as their communicative competence.

Due to non-availability of fourth year students of engineering in the college campus and lack of financial support, I restricted my work to the jurisdiction of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur.

7. The main drawbacks of our students are negative attitude towards the English language and discouragement from the peer groups, and lack of coordinated government efforts to promote English language learning.

Of the several challenges that ELL students may face at school, one of the most important to remember is that these students not only have the pressure of learning at the same pace of their peers that have most likely spoken English their whole lives, but they have to do so while attempting to understand the English language. Graves' makes a paramount point on page 411 of his text where he states "it is not that English language learners come to school with a language deficit. They come with a lack of knowledge of the particular language that is used in the schools they will be attending-English."1 Therefore, it is easy to assume that even the most ready-to-learn student will have huge amounts of trouble trying to learn everything in a language that is foreign to them.
Communication between humans would not be possible without the development of language. Gee and Hayes (2011), states that Language is a physically present set of rules that are established cognitively and socially that guides groups of humans to communicate with each other (p. 6). Language can take the form of many types of communication. Language that is seen, also known as non-verbal communication can be described as written language, body language, gestures and Auslan (Grellier & Goerke, 2014, p. 220). Language that is heard, also known as oral language is the ability to communicate through speech (Gee & Hayes, 2011. p. 6). Oral language has been present amoung all humanity since the beginning of time, starting from one original language.
In conclusion, I think we need to master different listening styles to be used in different situation in order to contribute to effective communication strategies and planning.

One form being oral communication this is when a person depends mostly on verbal, audio, and some type of visual means of communication. “Verbal communication is the very first form of communication that we read about in the Bible ” (Brown, 2012). In most institutions of learning today, the classes are made up of students from different ethnic backgrounds. These have different traditions and also speak different languages. In a typical classroom, the majority of the students will speak the same language. The teacher must then employ strategies which will accommodate all the students in the class. This will ensure that every learner gets the best quality of education. This will enable them to be better prepared for career and expressing themselves. In this paper, strategies to assist learners of the English language in their literal development for third grade learners. In the paper, three strategies that can be used by the teacher will be discussed. New strategies and research that will help the English language learners to gain in depth mastery of the language will also be discussed. The present study attempts to investigate the proper methods to be applied for improving the listening and speaking skills for children at early ages. The main focus of this study is to show how children can improve these two skills (listening and speaking) in English language as non-native speakers. People live in the world of communication. According to the Oxford Dictionary of Current English (Moore, 1997), communication is defined as, “The activity or process of expressing ideas and feelings or of giving people information”. The significance of communication can be found within the context of a human existing as a social being. As a human being manages his or her life in the course of the interaction between other members of the entire society, communication is inevitable. Communication occurs through the medium of a language and it is presented in two different forms which are written and spoken (Brown & Yule, 1983: 1-10). The importance of spoken performance of a language is becoming more prominent over the written performance capability. It is because the ability to speak a language reflects a person’s personality, self image, knowledge of the world, ability to reason, skill to express thoughts in real-time (Luoma, 2004: ix). These days, due to the global trend of internationalisation, the ability to communicate in English is needed as an essential skill. Whenever the international exchange happens, the use of spoken English entails. However, it is not always an easy task for people who use English as a second language to be able to speak to the level of a native speaker. They have to perfectly understand the sound system of English, have almost instant access to proper vocabulary and be able to place words together intelligibly without hesitation. Moreover, they also have to perceive what is being said to them and need to be able to respond appropriately to acquire amiable relations or to accomplish their communicative goals (Luoma, 2004: ix). Therefore, non-native English speakers encounter these barriers and they are subject to make mistakes often. In relation to this matter, this essay argues that there are socio-cultural factors as well as linguistic factors that affect non-native speakers’ communication in English. It provides analysis of several different situations when the use of spoken English has generated miscommunication problems in regards to author’s personal experience.
