Have you ever thought about what it is that really keeps you going on a day to day basis? What matters most to you in life? There are many different things or reasons that motivate people. The things that motivate us will be different because not everyone is the same. Motivation is really important in life. If you are not motivated, you really cannot accomplish anything. If you do not have motivation you are not aiming towards your goals. There are two main types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation although motivation can be many forms. Life Satisfaction is our overall evaluation of our own lives and how we are doing. We all want to make sure we are meeting our satisfactions. Choose to be a leader not a follower. Find ways that will help you achieve your goals in life. There are certain people and reasons that motivate me to keep going every day.There are many different things or reasons that motivate people. Motivation comes in all different forms, and it depends on how a person perceives it. Motivation can be anything, and affects each person differently. A person can have multiple ways of inspiration that encourage them to succeed. A person has to be at the right place in the right time, and it’s just a matter of finding it.
Throughout history, motivation has been one of the components to survival. Motivation is needed to get up in the morning and go on about the day in order to survive. As humans began to evolve, so did society, which meant our drive and motivation were derived from different goals rather than one common one. Rather than depending on biological drive, humans started to depend on the system of rewarding the good behavior and punishing the bad. This operating is known as Motivation 2.0 (Pink, 2009). However, this method is flawed due to the fact that this implies that humans are no different from a herd of livestock.
Motivation can be described as “”the need or desire to do something” (Jenkins, 2014). Motivation is a big factor because it helps people perform everyday tasks or decisions. I use motivation everyday to work on homework and exercise. Without motivation I wouldn 't feel the need to get anything done. I would put everything off and never finish a task. There are many theories about how people view motivation. Two of those theories are evolutionary perspective and drive reduction theory. Evolutionary perspective involves people doing tasks or behaviors based on their instincts. This could mean that I do things because it 's my instincts and not because I feel the need to get things done for other reasons. Drive reduction theory means that a drive compels someone to reduce a need. When it 's late at night my drive may be tiredness so I reduce the need by going to bed. I feel the drive reduction theory applies more about my need for motivation. My future career would also rely on motivation. I would need the motivation every morning to wake up and get out of bed to get ready. Then I would need the motivation to actually go to work to get things done. Without the motivation I would have never gone out to get a job because I wouldn 't feel the need to. People must be motivated to get things done to have a fulfilling
One of the many opportunities we have in the United States today is access to an education. I believe that being educated by teachers is very important. There are many benefits for pursuing a college degree. A few valuable advantages of higher education are African-Americans (and other minorities), like me, are able to be educated, job security, and a great salary. When I was growing up, my mom always let my siblings and I know the importance of education. For example, if I did not know the meaning of a word, my mom would say, “Look it up in the dictionary.” This taught me to read and research information instead of asking my mom for the answer. Motivation is what drives individuals to do what they do, whether it is something as simple as getting a drink because he or she are thirsty or something as big as getting up every day and gong to work for a paycheck.
Too often, we become too caught up in our everyday mundane routines that we forget, or perhaps, never truly see what our purpose is. We forget what truly motivates us to live and what truly drives us to reach a greater goal. Oscar Wilde once said, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” As I look at the people around me, I see ones who furnish their goals with intents of gaining wealth, success, or recognition. However, are they truly happy? How many times have you actually sat down and asked yourself, “why do I do what I do?”.

It is developed from the collaboration of both conscious and unconscious principles such as the strength of desire or need, motivating force or reward estimation of the objective, and desires of the person and of his or her peers/co-workers. These elements are the reasons one has for carrying on a specific way. The biggest question educators face in today’s classroom is what motivates a student to do something and why? Virtually all students are motivated in one way or another. Research of student motivation suggests a theory that emphasizes a social-cognitive perspective. The cognition of students regarding academic work are influenced by social factors, such as messages from the teacher about the difficulty of the task, the perceived abilities of classmates, and the information about the importance of learning the material (Urdan & Schoenfelder, 2006). In this paper the focus will primarily be on those elements within the classroom that influence student motivation and engagement.

Schulze and Steyn (2003) affirmed that in order to understand people’s behavior at work, managers or supervisors must be aware of the concept of needs or motives which will help “move” their employees to act.Theories such as Maslow (1954), McClelland (1961), Herzberg (1966) and Alderfer (1969) are renowned for their works in this field. There are infinite procedures teachers use to achieve desired effects from their students, but there are general patterns these motivational tools follow. In order for teachers to communicate with their students, they must identify with their needs on an individual basis (Gawel, 1997). This proposal is much akin to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, which states five basic needs that must be met in order to achieve full motivation. These needs, in ascending order, are as follows: physiological, security, love and belongingness, esteem and self-respect, and self-actualization (Gawel, 1997).
