Not everyone is the same, especially when it comes to expectations. Depending on a person's ethnic background, the necessities are different. It's the same type of idea for different cultures; Chinese, French, American etcetera all have different mindsets when it comes to what they want to see in a hotel during their stay.
The Four Seasons has really stressed the cultural differentiation and made it evident that something that an American would want would be something that the Chinese would see as unnecessary and vice versa. Using the term cultural chameleon, shows that the Four Seasons takes their time to sit back and observe how the different cultures react to things that remind them of home. For example, incorporating a pair of slippers in each room for the Chinese guests makes the company look more professional. Small gestures make a huge difference, especially when it creates a sense of personal care from the hotel to the guest. Another factor to keep in mind when caring for Chinese guests, are symbols. The Chinese culture is incredibly symbolic, especially when it comes to numbers and colors. As the hotel company, they must keep those in mind when checking in a customer. For example, red is

symbolic of good luck and joy, so by creating an environment where red is throughout the room will make the Chinese guests more comfortable and more likely to come back. Everything comes back to the idea of customer loyalty.
Giving the guests what they want while keeping their culture in mind will continue to make the hotel business thrive. Another example pertaining to culture is the act of simple courtesy. If you have someone from Britain or another country who have had problems with America in the past, make sure there's no symbols of American flags around. The hotels job is to make the customers nothing but happy, and American flags could cause certain guests to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Something that could be incorporated is multitude of different flags hanging right next to each other. Fremont street has a display of 30 flags all swaying right next to each other, it's a beautiful sight and creates a sense of
unity. All across the board, many different cultures are all about respect and expect customer service to be impeccable. Most other countries refer to Americans as rude and pretentious, so foreigners do not originally have high hopes for customer service. It is the hotel business' job to make sure to break that stereotype and change these people's minds. By providing a staff full of helpful, courteous individuals, the guests will feel more comfortable. No matter what culture, race, or group walks into the doors of a hotel, it is the management's job to do their research and always be ready for curveballs. The more you make the guest feel at home and less like an Americanized hotel, the more they will talk about their experience, which will be incredibly beneficial to the company.
Chinese-Americans authors Amy Tan and Gish Jen have both grappled with the idea of mixed identity in America. For them, a generational problem develops over time, and cultural displacement occurs as family lines expand. While this is not the problem in and of itself, indeed, it is natural for current culture to gain foothold over distant culture, it serves as the backdrop for the disorientation that occurs between generations. In their novels, Tan and Jen pinpoint the cause of this unbalance in the active dismissal of Chinese mothers by their Chinese-American children.
Comparison of American and Chinese Cultures Cultural differences are apparent from one group of people to another. Culture is based on many things that are passed on from one generation to the next. Most of the time, people take for granted their language, beliefs, and values. When it comes to the cultural differences of people, there is no right or wrong. People should be aware of others culture and respect the differences that exist between them.
China has the oldest, continuous, civilization in the world that dates more than four thousand years of existence, and has passed its culture through generations. Culture is a “dynamic social system,” containing the values, beliefs, behaviors, and norms of a “specific group, organization, or society”. (FM 3-24 COUNTERINSURGENCY, 2016). The five major characteristics that define a culture are learned, shared, based on symbols, integrated, and dynamic. The first is a characteristic in which the process of learning about ones culture from childhood. Because we share our cultures with other people we are able to comprehend each other’s and predict how others will act. Symbols are things distinctive to the culture and can be anything
The luxury hotel industry has become a significant segment of the general hospitality industry and is undergoing expeditious expansions. Hilton’s goal is to create value for its constituents, customers, owners and shareholders, employees, strategic partners, and the communities where each hotel is located-by delivering a consistent value
Moreover, the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is considered the first international hotel brand in the world, as it began operations in the year 1946 (About InterContinental Hotels Group Brands, 2015). Over time the hotel group has evolved to encompass quality hotel rooms not only in North America, but in Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Asia-Pacific (IHG – InterContinental Hotels Group, 2015). In addition, they have acquired extended stay facilities and the Hualuxe Hotels & Resorts, which specifically “celebrates the essence of Chinese hospitality” (About InterContinental Hotels Group Brands, 2015). In my opinion, this shows that their target market has changed by expanding their scope of travel, which means they are traveling to farther and farther locations and require the familiar surroundings with equivalent product quality at the final destination. The InterContinental Hotels Group is in the fourth and final stage of the product life cycle, which is the decline stage (Editorial Board, 2014, p. 212). Indeed, the brands lengthy history indicates it has loyal customers, but its addition of innovations indicates the targeting of new customers for the organization, which are clear signs of a business in the decline stage of the product life cycle (Editorial Board, 2014, p.

Hotel uniform “personalization, on a basis of the hotel as a whole”, may be the future trend of the hotels which aim to have distinct market position and segmentation in a way of impressing the guests (Ariffin, Nameghi, & Soon, 2015, p. 780) with localized stay experience. Competition between multinational luxury hotels, especially in Hong Kong, a small but well-developed region with stable society, high public security and social prosperity where being a renowned and popular destination for business and leisure guests, is fierce. Most of the global hotel brands can be found in Hong Kong, The Ritz-Carlton, The Grand Hyatt, Shangri-la as well as JW Marriott, to name but a few. To be remarkable and impressive among the competitors, intangible uniqueness appears to be more prominent to thrill the guests (Osman, Hemmington, & Bowie, 2009).
New years day is the day when the year starts over and new things begin which is usually celebrated with a party diner or family gathering in the U.S. China is a totally different story.
Before understanding the dynamism of the Budgets and Luxury Hotels in the global industry one must know about what Hospitality is all about. Hospitality could be an act of serving anyone in a warm and welcoming way. It could also be called as a “home away from home”. Giving priority to needs of the guests is a vital aspect of hospitality and service.

Last week I went to Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee for a visit, I had a chance to shortly interview a staff named Julie Davis. As a student majoring in hospitality management, it was such a great opportunity for me to gain some insight into the tourism and hospitality industry. I started the conversation with general questions, for example, describe her typical day at work, which reasons to work in hospitality, or what influenced her career choice. As a resort and convention center, Opryland provides inclusive and diversified accommodations as well as a wide range of services and facilities. Thus, there are so many different areas such as rooms, food and beverages, events, bar, golf, and fitness and different people in different areas certainly have different typical days.
Every hotel has a set of expectations based on their location and the culture their property is immersed in. Some people travel thousands of miles to be a part of an unfamiliar culture. With this said, hotels need to ensure the design and authenticity of their properties meet the cultural requirements of the culture they are a part of. Also, hotels need to read up on the legal aspects of the culture they are within because laws vary everywhere. All of these things will allow hotels to meet the cultural expectations put on them by their

American educational theories focus on interaction between teachers and students, students and students; while Chinese education is mainly composed of teaching. It reveals as the difference of classroom activities between China and the US. Since American students and Chines teachers are affected by different values, their might arouse discomfort or inadaptation especially in elementary TCFL classrooms because students are too young to adapt to new educational forms smoothly.
