INTRODUCTION
Before understanding the dynamism of the Budgets and Luxury Hotels in the global industry one must know about what Hospitality is all about. Hospitality could be an act of serving anyone in a warm and welcoming way. It could also be called as a “home away from home”. Giving priority to needs of the guests is a vital aspect of hospitality and service.
The word hospitality came from the Latin word ‘‘hospes’’ which was then refined to “hostis” which means stranger and later to the word “host” and finally to “hospitality”.

HISTORY
Carlson Group of hotels was founded by Curtis L. Carlson in 1938. He started by taking a $55 loan and founded the Gold Bond Stamp. In 1960, Carlson managed to acquire 50% interest in the Radisson Downtown Hotel which was situated in Minneapolis. Those were the first steps of the Carlson group in the hospitality market.
In 1975, Carlson went on to acquire TGI Fridays Inc. in 12 other US states, this ignited their entry in the restaurant business as well. They also acquired the Country Kitchen Inc., which at that time was a well-known chain of family restaurants.
In 1979, they acquired the Ask Mr. Foster Travel Inc.travel agency and later renamed it as Carlson Travel Group.
In 1980, Radisson Hotels, Inns, and Resorts were included in the Hotels and Resort Group.
In 1986, Carlson and Radisson entered into negotiations with SAS International Hotels, which was then renamed as Carlson-Rezidor Group. Thus, giving birth to the Carlson-Rezidor

Rosewood is a hotel and resorts company. It is mostly known for its self-branded hotel strategy. They currently own 13 properties worldwide, and planning for expansion. John Schott, who is the president and CEO, and Robert Boulogne, who is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, had a new goal for Rosewood future. They wanted to increase cross-property reservations to 10%, create Rosewood junkies, build a recognizable brand name, and strengthen their Rosewood brand equity.
The Wyndham Hotel Corporation was founded in 1981 by Trammell Crow in Dallas, Tx. Its first hotel was opened in 1982 and by 1985 they had successfully held 14 upscale properties in their portfolio. Wyndham continued to grow throughout the years until in 1997 they agreed to be acquired by Patriot American Hospitality Inc., under a Real Estate Investment Trust or REIT. After the acquisition, they began an aggressive campaign to purchase several smaller companies to increase their holdings. Some of those companies included Williams Hospitality, Carefree Hospitality, and Summerfield Suites. Due to these major acquisitions, Wyndham experience an eruption in growth and profit, but that would become short lived. The REIT structure was going under increased pressure federal regulators as well as several of Wyndham’s competitors. They claimed that under the REIT structure, companies were receiving an unfair advantage over premiums for both lodging properties and real estate. In light of this information, their stock value began to decrease significantly and had lost over 80% of its value. For several years Wyndham struggled to pay down its debt and was forced to lose it REIT status and turn into a C-Corporation under the new title Wyndham International Corporation. The next several years involved major changes and IT incorporation in a process to restructure the company.
In 1989 the company acquired Flying Tigers, an international cargo airline. In January 1998 Federal Express acquired Caliber System, Inc, which owned RPS, Roberts Express, Viking Freight and Caliber Logistics. It later purchased American Freightways. When these companies combined, the new organization became known as FDX Corp.

Hotel Management can be described as running or managing a hotel. Hotel managers are in charge of everything from housekeeping and reservations to catering and concierge services. The Hotel industry as a whole benefits from increased travel. It comprises of businesses that provide services, primary accommodations, food and beverages.
The hospitality culture is a very significant issue these days. Companies are competing with each other in the service quality more than anything else. Hospitality industries must think to offer good and satisfactory products for the customers. Managers should be hired with excellent service attitude. The training process should focus and emphasize the service culture in the organization .
