Studies have shown that one who is physically active has higher chances of living longer. Del Sanden writes in his article on Exercise Statistics, "People who engage in physical for 7 hours per week have a 40 percent lower chance of dying early than people who are active for less than 30 minutes a week." This statement is one of the many statements in his article proving the importance of fitness; it has the ability to enhance quality of life. Regular exercise can lower the risk of many diseases, improve the function of the physical body, as well as psychological health.
Fitness by definition is the condition of being physically fit and healthy. It does not necessarily mean gym workouts, it means being active. When one is active, the motion helps blood flow better, increases the intake of oxygen, thereby lessoning risks of many diseases. Good blood flow is associated with good cardiovascular health. In other words, physical activity reduces risk of heart disease, heart attacks, high blood pressure, strokes, and many other cardio related diseases. Cardio activities like walking or running is like weight lifting, building the cardio muscles. It is what makes the blood pump, resulting in better health.
Being so common in this US, preventing obesity, has become one of the most discussed benefits of fitness. Being active provides protection against obesity. Activity burns the fat calories preventing the build up, or ridding unwanted fat. The issue with fat build up is that it slowly eats away at the most important organs, slowly killing a person. Pate et al. (1995) stated that physical activity is needed for health promotion and disease prevention. They also stated that every adult should do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise everyday if possible. Moderate intensity exercising includes activities such as brisk walking and cycling as stated by the Department of Health (2011). They also state that regular physical activity will improve a person’s mental health as it will increase self esteem and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Physical wellbeing is also enhanced by an increase in physical activity. The World Health Organisation (WHO) (2002) found that in developed countries 20% of heart disease and 10% of strokes are due to physical inactivity. Furthermore a lack of physical activity is found to cause 3% of all diseases.
(2015) obesity is becoming a public health problem in the world (p. 258). Obesity is increasing in adults from 15% to 30%, 5% to 18% in adolescents and 6% to 19% in children as stated by (Ferkel, Judge, Stodden, Griffin, 2014, p. 219). Obesity occurs when someone has a poor unhealthy diet or no type of physical activity. If an adolescent consumes plenty of fats and sugars but does no type of physical activity to burn off those calories than most of the fats and sugars will be stored inside their body as fat. 1 out of every 3 adolescents are now being considered obese; by reason of, children spending more time using technology instead of going outside to take part in physical activity. Physical activity is very important to burn off calories and fat which can be helpful when trying to prevent obesity or also treating it. Obesity is increasing rapidly throughout the nation making it a public health problem; obesity develops when someone has an improper diet, lacks of physical activity and their emotional
The obesity in the US has drastically increased in the last few decades due to an increase in the consumption of unhealthy foods and reduced physical activity levels. Nearly 78 million adults and 13 million children in the United States are dealing with the health and the emotional effects of obesity every day. Because obesity has massive implications in regards to the health of our society, this issue is cited almost daily in the news, on radio and televisions, journals and magazines. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta (CDC) more than thirty percent of our adult population is diagnosed as obese, and there are several hundred of thousands of deaths each year that are associated with diseases caused by obesity as a primary contributing factor.
Obesity has increased rapidly throughout the years, especially in the United States. As of today, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than one-third of adults in the U.S are considered to be obese. We all know that obesity is becoming a serious issue in the lives Americans. The effects of obesity can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and in serious cases, death. So the question we can all ask is, “What is the cause?” The cause of obesity can come from, but is not limited to, some of these things: eating habits, lack of exercise, or a medical condition.
Image spending 24 hours,12 months and 365 days of just being inactive then BAM! you die. A 2012 study from the England University of Leicester showed that prolonged sitting was also linked to a greater risk of death from all causes. Exercising has become a norm in our society today with things such as gyms opening, vegan diets, and even television programs, but as of early 2018, 80% of adults don't get the recommended amount of exercise. I believe that exercise is important and everyone should participate in trying to improve their health. Just think about it and it might surprise you.
According to the CDC, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults should do at least 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercise, or 75 minutes week of intense aerobic activity. Everyone should try to do at least the recommended amount of weekly exercise. Not exercising can be detrimental to one’s health. Exercising moderately for at least 150 minutes a week or working out intensely for 75 minutes can add, on average, 3.4 years to one’s lifespan, while people who do not exercise have the highest premature death rate. Being active has both mental and physical benefits, adding exercise to your routine can create a happier, healthier lifestyle. Exercise, no matter how strenuous or simple, is an important activity for all people.
Millions of Americans and people worldwide are overweight or obese. Obesity develops when “calories consumed exceeds calories expended” (“Obesity and Genetics”). “Obesity rates have more than doubled in adults and children since the 1970’s,” and in the present day it is estimated that “two – thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese” (Ogden). Being overweight or obese highly increases the risk of deadly health problems, therefore this statistic states that the majority of the United States population is at risk of obtaining life–threatening diseases. Around forty years ago obesity would not effect this abundant number of people; however today’s society consumes more fast food in addition to spending most of their hours doing sedentary activities (Green). There are now many causes of obesity such as environment, genetics, bad habits, culture and economic level. Obesity has many negative impacts on the human body. It can very likely cause diabetes, joint pain, sleeping problems, depression, and many hazardous diseases (“Explore Overweight”). In contrast to this, there are some possible solutions to obesity such as physical activity, dieting, and surgery. Obesity is a widespread epidemic that unfavorably affects the body, but with exercise fused with dieting the disease could be kept to a minimum.
Exercise is often thought of in a positive light. It is common belief in today’s society that a healthy diet and a regular exercise routine will lead to a long, healthy life. And in the simplest sense of the word, it will.

I believe that physical activity will improve one's health in two aspects – the physical state of one's body, and the mental health of the individual, both of which are crucial in maintaining the well-being of a person, and taps onto other domains mentioned in the Healthy Lifestyle Index Report (such as BMI, sleep, stress and depression).
Steady amounts of exercise help manage the fat to muscle ratio of the body. Exercise attracts attention because of its ability to maintain a person’s weight. The simple act of walking burns calories, contributing to overall weight loss. For fitness fanatics, consistent, and more intense, exercise builds muscle. When muscles are not worked out they weaken, and the chances of injury elevates. However if muscles are overused, they become fatigued, and the risk of strains rise. Long term cardio exercise induces long term benefits. Studies have shown, with regular exercise, comes an increase in metabolism. Since exercise improves overall fitness, it helps boost the immune system. Nonetheless don’t overdo it, too much exercise without enough rest can promote colds. Keeping a consistent
One of the best ways in how people can improve their overall mood, keep their bones healthy and even live longer, is by being an active person. Fred DeVito stated that “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn 't change you”; however most people just want exercise just to have a fit body and be healthier without knowing great results. Other effects that exercise has into the body are normalization of glucose, insulin and leptin levels. In other words not only will it make the appearance in a person’s life to look great, but their entire body will have an extraordinary response. In order to have a more fulfilling and enjoyable life, those who are out of shape should participate in regular fitness schedule reginert.
Living a long and healthy life requires more than just good luck. People all over the world go to the gyms and like to exercise for different reasons. Some think that maintaining their fitness will just aim at their physical image, but being physically active will help control their overall health by improving the body's function and preventing sickness. Being physically active is the key to being physically and mentally fit, and helps people become a more balanced, physically fit person. They will not only stay healthier, but will be happier, live longer, and also sleep better. This will help boost a person's mental outlook, and also increase their self esteem. Physical fitness is one of the most important steps to a healthy body.
Exercise, or physical activity helps your body in many ways. For example, exercise helps control the weight of a human.
