I am passionate about baking. From my first batch of burned traditional Chinese cookie to the delicate French macarons I just bite, it has been a long journey. My most memorable baking experience is about macarons. It was my first Thanksgiving in the US, and I planned to bring my friends some pumpkin spice macarons, a non-traditional Thanksgiving dessert with a traditional Thanksgiving flavor. I was excited to research the recipe online and started to make them a week in advance since they were finicky. However, I was so frustrated that all the batches turned out either liquefied or cracked until the last Saturday before Thanksgiving. At that point, I decided to look back every step of the instructions, did my research online and tried to
figure out what went wrong. Then I realized the answer was the liquid food coloring ruin the consistency of the egg whites since I fold it too many times. To solve the problem, I substituted the liquid food coloring on the recipe for the gel coloring and added it when I beat the egg whites instead after. Since then, my macarons have become my signature treats to holiday occasions and parties such as bridal showers. In addition, the gel food coloring has become my secret for making macarons. For me, baking makes me a better person. It has taught me that patience and attention to detail are always necessary. Most importantly, I have learned that failures can happen, but I need to keep trying.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a story of history versus legend, according to randomhistory.com. Saint Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland because of his service across Ireland in the fifth century (theholidayspot.com). Without Saint Patrick’s background/childhood, Saint Patrick being a good bishop, or how Saint Patrick’s Day has come to be nothing would be known about him or Saint Patrick’s Day on March seventeenth.
At 1:45 College English began and our baking process started. The first step was to preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and gather all supplies that was needed to make the cupcakes. Anna and I began to fill the cupcake pans with cupcake liners. Maya sprayed the cupcake liners with cooking spray so the cupcakes wouldn’t stick. Our next step was to start mixing the batter. I started to soften three sticks of butter in the microwave. Luckly Anna was keeping a close eye on me because I almosted used a metal bowl to melt the butter in the microwave. Sadie began to mix 4 ½ cups of flour, 3 ⅓ teaspoons of baking powder, and ¾ of a teaspoon of salt together in a bowl. For about four minutes Sadie mixed the butter and sugar. Anna then added six teaspoons of vanilla to the mixture. My group added half of our flour mixture to the bowl of eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Next, we added two cups of whole milk; along with that we added the rest of the flour mix. We mixed and mixed until the batter was nice and
The first Thanksgiving day we all know the story. It was a meeting between the pilgrims and the native Indians. But what did it really look like?
Thanksgiving is the start to the holiday season. It is also the start to the holiday travel season. Sadly, the travel often aligns with some of the country's worst weather, biggest crowds, stressed out travelers, and high flight prices from airlines hoping to take advantage of needy patrons. While there is not a lot you can do about the weather or crowds, you can avoid being one of those stressed travelers by planning your trip in advance and taking advantage of a few price saving measures.
Thanksgiving is undoubtedly a holiday to celebrate family. It also celebrates many other things, as the name suggests. Thanksgiving is a holiday to give thanks for the things that a person has rather than to wish for more things. Accomplishments and shiny cars are not part of the essence of Thanksgiving, as these do not have the inherent humbleness expected of the holiday. This air of humility and frugality, harkening back to the days of the pilgrims and Native Americans, is probably what lead Ellen Goodman to describe the holiday as a suppressing of individualism. However, the rift between individuality and family that Goodman describes in Thanksgiving is not as deep as she makes it seem, and Thanksgiving Day is hardly the only day of the
The purpose of Thanksgiving in Canada is different from the Americans. But even though the reasons for giving thanks are different, many of the customs are the same. Canadian Thanksgiving was originally started to give thanks to God for a bountiful harvest. This was when there were lots of farmers that grew crops. Now we give thanks for everything we appreciate. Some farming families still give thanks for a good crop.
The first Thanksgiving happened in 1621 by the Plymouth colonists and Wamponoag Indian. In the first Thanksgiving they only ate Venison,Indian Corn,Fowl, and Barley.Yes turkey was NOT on the menu suprisingly. Also their was no pumpkin pie or potatoes because they weren't introduced yet. They did have cranberries, but they didn't eat them as a sauce. It wasn't until 1789 that George Washington declared Thanksgiving a National Holiday which meant it didn't become a Holiday til the 19th century. It wasn't til the Civil War president Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving something to celebrate every
The History of ThanksgivingTopic: The History of ThanksgivingQuestion: What is the origin of Thanksgiving?Thesis: The History of Thanksgiving goes far back to 1621 when the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared a harvest feast, which was the first Thanksgiving meal.September of 1620, a ship known as the Mayflower left Plymouth, England transporting over 100 passengers. These passengers were religious separatists and were seeking refuge in a new territory. I want to take a moment to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and Holiday Season!
When we were younger many of us wished that during the school year there would be cancellations or early dismissals. If the school’s education system in our district uses the year round school schedule then children and teachers as well won't feel overwhelmed due to the lack of vacations the traditional school system has. Now, to answer the question fellow parents of children in Danbury and Danbury citizens there should be year round school for these reasons: avoids teacher and student burnout, students will be more prepared for the future, and test score increase.
Thanksgiving- To most of us, It is just the stereotypical you have turkey, a little stuffing, and maybe some pumpkin pie, but how is it really?
You almost always start your recipes with a story — something personal that puts the food into context. Story seems to be so central to your approach towards food.
Thanksgiving is one of our family big traditions. I love this time of the year because we get to see family from all out of town coming from all different places. Every Thanksgiving everyone gets to choose their own dish to bring or make. One major thing we always do is when everybody are sat down at the table we go around and say what we are all thankful for. This time of the year is very special time for my family, with everyone meeting the family and just having a special family bond.
Thanksgiving at my house in 2011, was it a blessing or a disaster? I called to ask my brother what the plans were for this year’s dinner and he said that we should have it at my house. Of course, Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for our families and our health, but little did I know what I was really getting myself in to when I agreed. Growing up my mom always made cooking and baking look so easy. When I was asked to host dinner at my house, I sat down and wrote up a plan. I knew I was going to have to clean my house, cook a turkey, and be ready by noon on Thanksgiving Day!
