Technology in Dance Education
Dance Education is one of the fine arts taught at many schools here in the United States today. It has a way of creating a great learning environment for students and teachers through movement, and the interpretation of movement. Technology has had a great impact on society as well. It has been weaved throughout the public schools through the use of computers, televisions, radios, and intercom systems. It transforms the lighting on any given stage to display depth, life and convey the dances message more clearly.
Technology has now been weaved into Dance Education. Technology supports dance arts education in K-12 schools in a positive way. Is it helpful? If so how can it support fine arts Education in our K-12 Schools?
Dance Causes Students to Use Creative Thinking
Dance Education causes students to use their creative thinking styles. Dance is an art form, it can be interpreted in many ways both by those who are dancing and by viewing audiences. Many schools have begin to come up with curriculums and objectives that the teachers and students of dance education in K-12 schools will be able to follow to ensure that it is properly taught. “Multiple Intelligences theory validates dance as a domain of knowledge.”(Warburton, E.C. 2003) In the book Dance Education in American Public Schools many schools were surveyed and asked to provide information about their schools dance programs. In Appendix E2 of the book it states that “Dance in education provides students with alternative forms of communication and ways of learning that integrate the mind’s creative and critical capacities.” (Knowles, P 1991). In that there was also objectives given that the Columbus, Ohio public schools would ...

Ballet is an athletic art form that utilizes muscle control, flexibility, and physical strength. It requires extreme discipline from the dancers and takes an extreme amount of mental concentration. This discipline causes dancers to have success throughout life and specifically in academic studies. There are many ways that dance can affect the success of a person’s life; however, there are two in specific that make dancers generally more successful. To begin, ballet causes dancers to be self-motivated workers; dancers cannot rely on others to push them to be better, but must have the drive within themselves.
Throughout history, dance has served as a form that performs and embodies the cultural values of the society it is in. The idea of dance varies within intellectual traditions and develops to a wider concept of movement practices within individual cultures. Dance can be looked upon as a culturally formed activity that offers information about human behavior in a certain society. Dance has also served to disrupt the cultural values in a society due to cultural evolution and cultural migration. The discipline in culture functions with a receptive approach to the exploitation of Western values.

Miami Dade College’s very own dance majors, who were challenged by the artistry of guest choreographers as well as themselves, performed The Art of Dance. Watching this performance truthfully made me question if the dancers in this program were being trained properly to be professional dancers
Dance is a type of sport that usually involves movement of the body, often carried out to different types of music depending on the style. Dance is practiced in many cultures as a form of expression or social relations in a spiritual or performance setting, and is even used to express certain beliefs and ideas. Dance does not have traceable roots and it is not possible to say when exactly dance became a part of culture, but historical evidence shows that dance has been an important aspect of rituals, services, revels, and entertainment since the ancient developments. Since dance was discovered, it has become prevalent. Many different forms and styles of dance are used all around the world today including ballet, swing, hip-hop, and even the tango and salsa.
Dance is ubiquitous, found all over the world. As dance involves all students, it can also incorporate the diverse cultures celebrated at school. Every year, a new population of students arrives in the classroom, and I never know what types of students will be part of our classroom, especially in Kindergarten. They could be an array of students from different cultures or speaking different languages. Creative movement enhances and brings knowledge to the students of cultures around the world.
Fine arts classes benefit students and schools alike. Fine arts are needed courses, not just as electives but as core classes that promote learning and creativity in the lives of students. There are three different styles of learning: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Fine art provides an avenue for all of these learning styles to be utilized during one class period; therefore, all students are able to understand and benefit from the curriculum. In a normal academic setting all types of learning may not be used, so a percentage of the classroom will not understand the lessons as well as it could have if it had arts incorporated into the class. It may seem impossible to include arts into an academic setting, but it is possible, effective, and fun. According to Barry Oreck, it has been proven that students learning molecular bonding through a dance had a more proficient understanding of the concept. He states, “We have found that if you learn something through a theater game, you can still answer a test question” (new horizons Dickerson 3). This statement proves that arts are extremely important and beneficial. With fine arts, students have a safe environment to express themselves, a motivation to stay in school, and higher test scores. The fact that fine arts are needed is evident, but will schools respond or live in denial?
Dancing is a form of art that allows many children to express themselves through body motion while developing many skills. Children throughout the world have been dancing since the day they began walking. When a child to take their first steps and puts together the simplest combination of movements, that would be considered as dancing. Music also plays a major role in the development of children understanding dance, because it is can be used as an accompaniment, and can help children get a better feel for the rhythm in dances. Over the past century educators have come to the conclusion that dance serves as a form of art, and should be taught in public schools and colleges to help the growth in children of all ages both physically, mentally, and academically.
Dance is one of the many forms of art in which people express themselves. It is one of the oldest forms of expression. As a non-verbal form of art, dance involves itself not with reason to discourse but rather with feelings, attitudes, images, relationships, shapes, and other forms of emotions. Many generations, but specifically Generation Y, express themselves through dance. Dance can be anything from a wiggle in the finger toa twist of the hips. But this generation knows that there is more to dance than just technique and movement.
Dance is considered a sport for some people, and some don't. This research is about the physical and mental benefits of dance. According to the Oxford Dictionaries, dance is, “A series of steps and movements that match the speed and rhythm of a piece of music (2014 Oxford University Press). This research paper will be referring to dance mostly as a sport instead of an art. This essay briefly explains what dance is, and different forms of dance. This essay explains what dance does to benefit you mentally and physically, going into detail of diseases and problems you could prevent or cure with dance.
There are many ways technology is used in physical education in schools today. Technology in PE is any thing that helps teachers improve the environment and class room activity 's for students and get them to be more physically active in and out side of the class room. There are many different ways technology is used, and it is a positive way to engage students in their physical education class. In my eyes technology in physical education is a very effective way to improve students physical fitness in and outside of the classroom.
Dance, it is a big part of our world and it always has been. Dance is used to show something, really anything something that happened in history, something that would never really happen in real life. But in dance that does not matter because you show pictures and images with the movement of your body. People have always danced since the beginning of time to show what they are feeling.

“Dance, the art of precise, expressive, and graceful human movement, traditionally, but not necessarily, performed in accord with musical accompaniment. Dancing developed as a natural expression of united feeling and action.”
