There are many ways technology is used in physical education in schools today. Technology in PE is any thing that helps teachers improve the environment and class room activity 's for students and get them to be more physically active in and out side of the class room. There are many different ways technology is used, and it is a positive way to engage students in their physical education class. In my eyes technology in physical education is a very effective way to improve students physical fitness in and outside of the classroom. There are many ways that technology can help provide our PE teachers with positive teaching strategies in order to improve the quality of their classes. One way technology improves a physical education classroom …show more content…
Technology is a big part of the fitness testing that occurs in most school systems in the country. There are three different types of tests, the pacer, pushup, and sit up test. For the pacer test the voice will tell you when to begin, and then you must run from one sideline of the court to the other before the beep. You must do this continuously back and forth until you reach a passing score. For the pushup and sit up test you must go up and down as the voice commands until you either pass or fail. For example, where I went to high school we used all of these forms of technology for our state fitness testing. Even some of our athletic coaches will use the pacer test as a way to get our sports team in better condition. Also, some PE classes use music for warm ups in order to get the students focused or excited about the class. By using the music the kids will want to start moving instead of no music which may make the beginning of class seem boring and bland. Another way technology is used is through virtual games and other activities. Some examples of virtual games could be Dance Dance Revolution, or other games for the Wii, Playstation, and other video game consoles where you are constantly moving even while standing in front of a television or …show more content…
I believe that technology does more good than bad in classes because it gets kids who are not into sports off the bleachers and more involved in the class. Susan Promislo who is a spokeswoman for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says, “kids who would not otherwise play sports or get off the sidelines in gym class are finding DDR to be a fun, appealing option that gets them burning calories without feeling like they are exercising.” This statement provides enough detail in my eyes to come to the conclusion that technology can have a positive impact in a PE class. The objective of a physical education class whether it’s elementary, middle, or high school is to get every person involved in class and to improve their physical fitness. So if a physical educator can use technology in order to get not just the jocks involved but the people who are not into sports or physical activities, they are doing their job
Though there are some positive effects, the adverse impact of technology on education has been extraordinary. The technology community has worked hard to bring useful technology into our classrooms, all with good intentions to broaden our knowledge. With these good intentions also came about unwanted side effects such as distraction and disruption in the classroom. I can clearly remember many of my teachers yelling at us to put our cell phones, iPods, and iTouch phones away especially during lecture and exams. The yelling was not without just cause, students cheated with their devices along with updating their Facebook pages during class too.
Many people have different opinions on the use of fitness testing, some being stronger than others, but there’s still some research out there to back up most opinions. While there is plenty of good and bad connected with fitness testing, I’m going to dig into ways I should use it in the classroom when I become a teacher. Knowing the negatives of fitness testing can help me create ideas to eliminate the negatives and keep testing as fun and relaxed as possible. By doing so, I’ll make sure everyone testing feels comfortable testing and ensure that results are accurate.
devices in almost every classroom. Technology enhances learning, boosts confidence, and eliminates geographical limitations. Technology enriches learning by being able to come in different forms and do different things. "For lessons traditionally done with a paper and pencil, we now were able to do them in color, with animation, and with more depth and complexity"(McCollum). Teachers are now able to help stu...
Physical education should be a fun class, but fun does not have to mean chaos. I believe in a structure that will allow the students to have fun in a safe way. My lesson plans will be structured so that students are constantly engaged in physical activity. I feel that if I can keep students moving and learning, then the chances of misbehavior will decrease. In elementary school I feel that Instant Activities should be used to get students moving when they get into my class. High school is a little different. I feel that students at the secondary school level should be introduced physical fitness activities that will help keep them in shape later on in life.
Since the integration of technology into education, technology has helped give students advanced opportunities, and a chance at a better education than those before them. Technology in the classroom can be a very useful tool to students, and the job of educators is to ask themselves if new technologies are helping students accomplish something that would otherwise not be possible. The answer to this question should always be yes.
The value of physical education P.E. teachers bring to schools and their students. P.E. has an effect on everyday life. With this in mind I feel P.E. is highly valuable. Physical education activities have development in mind. Children can participate in a variety of activities and are encouraged to achieve overall wellness by continuously staying active.
Technology is becoming more and more dominant in our society.Everyday upgrades are being made and new innovations are being discovered. Technology is all around us whether we want it to be or not: it is the vehicles we drive, it can be found in our homes, and can even be found in the grocery store.Every place we look there is some type of technology.I believe technology has had a major impact on our school systems and is still impacting it today. There are those who do not agree, though, that technology has impacted our schools.Eric Gormly writes, “In fact, many theorists point out the overall impact of technology on education has been quite small, manifesting little discernible change in the classroom.” [1]Yes, there are some schools that are not as advanced as others, but many of them do have a significant amount of technology in them.I find it fascinating that so much technology has been incorporated into our classrooms, but I believe that, even with all of the positive aspects that are associated with technology, there are some negative and even dangerous aspects that should be taken into account.I will be sharing some of the equipment that has been used in the schools, how both the students and the teachers use the equipment, and also the positive and negative effects that technology has had on our schools.
Some say that technology is a distraction and hinders the students from fully learning and developing important skills that they claim only the interactions with the teacher can provide. Teachers have said that technology is a powerful tool that allows them to introduce and demonstrate learning activities in a completely new way. It has been studied and proven that most kids are more motivated and interested in the concepts they are supposed to learn when the teaching tool of technology is used. A fifth grade teacher stated, “Technology is the ultimate carrot for students. It's somet...
Physical education in school systems is beneficial because it improves students’ health. Without physical education the child’s overall health will decrease. Despite these benefits, some people believe that physical education has no value to children in schools. Physical education is significant in schools because it improves children’s health.
...many benefits for us, but it is not really needed all the time. Maybe in some situations for people technology is needed every day in their lives. But the fact is that people don’t really need all these new gadgets, they didn’t have all of this kind of stuff back in the day, and they still mad it through. Education is being helped by technology and sometimes just giving the student the answer. Later on though it can affect the student when a more difficult situation comes, they will not know what to do.

Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
During the start of the recession, it was understood that major changes were needed. These changes were necessary and soon after this realization, they began putting them into place, in order to save the economy. Sadly, one of those ideas was to cut school funding, leaving schools no choice but to lay off some teachers which meant some courses too. Of course getting rid of academic curriculum such as math, English or science was out of the picture since these classes teach core foundations. At that time, the only logical courses to cute had to be the arts and physical education. Not only was this an upsetting change in school environments, but also, on top of all that, classroom sizes had to be increased leaving children to be even more uncomfortable.
Physical education takes place in the school curriculum which is timetabled and taught to all school pupils. This involves a range of different skills, learning basic movements
As a college student who would like to become a teacher, I believe that technology will help a child. All children learn differently, and technology is to help the children who have no other place to go. Some children are just unable to learn from a teacher, that is when technology plays a big role. Some children have to show themselves how to do things and technology will allow that.
