1.The final presentation for my international monetary system class was to be delivered by groups of four, and the group members were assigned by our professor. Two members of my group, as I knew, had trouble understanding most materials we had covered in class. Another member of our group, concerning about the negative influences on our group grade if those two members messed up our presentation, suggested that we should leave those two members alone and finish the presentation by ourselves. I totally understood his concern, but I insisted that those two members, even struggling with the materials in class, still deserved their chance to finish the presentation as part of our group. Therefore, I assigned those two members part of the presentation, …show more content…
This mistake brought us so much extra work that we might have trouble meeting the deadline. In order to turn the table, efficient cooperation and communication were necessary. Therefore, with the suggestions of my senior, I reorganized the work division according to my colleagues' specialties and preferences to reduce overlaps between their duties and boost work efficiency. At the same time, I collected my colleagues’ ideas about the ways of improving efficiency and shared this information during our daily meetings. With more explicit labor division and more effective communication, we were able to meet the deadline. This success not only prevented our auditing firm from suffering reputational and financial losses, but also became an important lesson for my career development: a business leader should be open to feedback and able to make decisions based on that, because assignments involved in daily operation are often too complicated to any single person, especially during emergencies. In another perspective, a qualified business leader, literally, is supposed to lead and inspire people rather than do all the work by himself/herself, so efficient information share becomes necessary. During the projects I participated in after that internship experience, informal daily …show more content…
I have kept working out for five years. The trigger for my workout life was quite simple: I had to lose some weight. Being overweight not only resulted in frequent prejudice against me but also brought inconvenience into my daily activities, even though no serious health problems had been incurred. Therefore, I made a workout plan and have been sticking to it since then. Training during the first few months was an ordeal, and on several occasions I almost gave up. However, every gust of pain flowing through my body paid off. I am no longer a fat boy, but workout has become an indispensable component of my lifestyle, representing the way I express my passion to academic and professional careers: no pain, no gain. I truly appreciate the diligence and tenacity I gained during the past five years, because they not only provide me with a good body shape but also become part of my personal identity. Last summer, I only had one month to prepare for my Fund Practice Qualification Exam. Being a fund manager in China is part of my long-term career goal, and I hoped to get the qualification before getting overwhelmed by professional work after my graduation. Therefore, I spent eight hours a day on preparation during that month without a break, and fortunately I passed the exam and got the qualification that pushed me towards my career goal. In the future, this career goal, with my “workout spirits”, will keep driving my
Standing at the starting line of the full marathon I felt anxious and nervous. Not only was I excited to accomplish this goal, but also I was nervous about the difficulty of this task. However, when I crossed the finish line and accomplished this goal, I realized that a new and possibly more difficult goal was about to start. This goal was not only to complete Physician Assistant School but it was to strive to excel in a career as a Physician Assistant in a rural primary care setting. Driven by my intrinsic personal traits of leadership, compassion, and commitment, I am motivated to achieve this goal of excelling in my career as a Physician Assistant.
My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. Together, we are tasked with the mission to complete a stakeholder analysis regarding a specific organization and their structure. For this project to be completed successfully, it is important that all team members are able to cooperate with one another and are able to use their different strengths to create the best end product.
You’re where you belong and you’re right on time. Whether you've been training for 20 years or wondering about getting back in shape for 20 minutes, you now have at your fingertips the most complete blend of training information and motivation for every level of participation. Working out doesn't have to start out as a full one hundred percent full body workout but as small increments of workouts and to build up the number of workouts you do and spend small bits of time thinking about why you are actually doing it rather than thinking of an excuse. You might think, “But John I am happy sitting and being
At the point when the team moves into the "norming" stage, they are starting to work all the more successfully as a team. They are no more centered on their individual objectives, yet rather are centered on building up a method for cooperating. They respect each other's opinions and value their differences. They begin to see the value in those differences on the team.
Weightlifting has shown me the importance of consistency and discipline; of setting realistic goals and working hard and with humility towards them; of being patient and perseverant, and most importantly it has greatly improved my self-confidence. Many times have I wanted to give up in the middle of a workout, but only by being disciplined and pushing myself to keep going have I discovered what it takes to overcome the challenges we undertake every day and to reach the goals we set for ourselves. Since then, I’ve applied this philosophy to every aspect of my life: work hard, persevere, stay consistent, be patient and you will find
As Devise Products Unlimited (DPU) experiences ongoing quality issues in its manufacturing of product, chief executive officer, M. Thomas, has decided to take corrective action through the use of leadership teams. This will be the organization's first attempt at utilizing a team structure to solve its manufacturing department issues; therefore, it is important to select the right leaders and team members to improve the likelihood of success. Thomas has decided to break the production division into teams of four mechanics, two engineers, and a team leader (CSU-Global, n.d.a). According to Katzenbach and Smith (as cited by Tiffan (2014), teams should have no more than 10 members to be effective. To ensure that team leadership is successful, Thomas will want to identifying the right leader and leadership style, define the purpose and goal, encourage structure and
During my undergraduate studies, I spent time exploring the field of exercise science. I endured laborious coursework that molded my character into a strong-willed, disciplined student. As I deepened my knowledge of the human body, my passion for working in health care evolved to new heights. I also grew a fondness for learning new material and concepts. By the end of my undergraduate experience, I knew how to maximize my personal success.
After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team-setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experiences and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project.
As far as our team is concerned, they worked in an organised manner to accomplish the task within the deadline. All the team members were well aware of their individual roles and their team’s role. As our team was multi-cultural, some arguments were already expected.
Throughout the semester I have seen positive improvements in my health. My goal for this year was/is to get into shape and to make good health habits so that I can easily continue to have them in college. I took this class because I’m interested in becoming a weight loss/management coach and felt that I should be healthy before I try to help others become healthy. With the improvements I have made in just this semester I think I am on the right path to doing so. My goal is to tone and define my muscles all over.

Physical training is 90% mental and 10% physical. The most important factor is developing a proper mindset. Your frame of mind guides everything that you do. The right mindset will get you through any challenge. Get your mind right and your body will follow. From this point forward, view physical training as an all or nothing situation. You are either in or out. There is no grey area. The words “I can’t” can no longer be part of your vocabulary. Do not give yourself permission to miss a meal or a training session. Do not make or accept excuses for not following through. There are no excuses. Trust this system. Trust yourself. Follow the programs. Failure is not an option.
Since then I have continued to follow through with the same level of dedication to exercising. I find myself wondering at times where I would be in life if I had never picked up that first barbell and started lifting. It has been a difficult journey and I know that it is far from over, with so many things I still have to work on. Through all the mistakes and obstacles it took to get me here, I am now living a healthy lifestyle and I owe much of it to exercising.
