Throughout the semester I have seen positive improvements in my health. My goal for this year was/is to get into shape and to make good health habits so that I can easily continue to have them in college. I took this class because I’m interested in becoming a weight loss/management coach and felt that I should be healthy before I try to help others become healthy. With the improvements I have made in just this semester I think I am on the right path to doing so. My goal is to tone and define my muscles all over. Muscular strength and endurance have improved significantly for me. There have been changes made twice in my personal fitness plan to increase the amount of weight and repetitions that I am doing in the weight room because the previous amounts were becoming easy. In the fitness assessment I was able to touch my fingertips together behind my back on both the right and left sides. I would like to start doing more yoga to help me stretch my muscles and become more flexible. There is a lot of room for improvement in my flexibility. Personally I hate running, but I do it anyways. It is really good for your heart and it really does make me feel pretty good about myself after I’m done. Running gets boring, but with the progress I have made, it is so much easier! My fitness test results show that I was in the health fitness zone for aerobic capacity, percent body fat, and body mass index. My percent body fat did not improve much, if at all, and that is what I hope to make a big improvement in. I have several goals for next semester and for my future. My flexibility needs the most improvement and I hope to improve that by picking up yoga. I would like to be able to run an entire 5k by summer so I’m going to try to run more often and do other vigorous exercises. In my paper regarding strength assessments from the Rath’s Strengths Finder 2.00 (Rath) I learned how it can improve the development of my leadership. About a year ago I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment (The Myers & Briggs Foundation); I was identified as an ENTJ and ENFJ (split personality). I recently took another assessment detailing with my style (Style Analysis). The strength finder 2.0 assessment defined my top five leadership strengths; the Myers Briggs defined my personality; and this new assessment defining my style behavior. These assessments are very valuable in knowing who I am as a leader. Leadership is about getting others to accomplish goals bigger than themselves. That requires motivation. Now that I understand more about myself and my leadership style, how can I use this knowledge to motivate and persuade others?

Many people have different opinions on the use of fitness testing, some being stronger than others, but there’s still some research out there to back up most opinions. While there is plenty of good and bad connected with fitness testing, I’m going to dig into ways I should use it in the classroom when I become a teacher. Knowing the negatives of fitness testing can help me create ideas to eliminate the negatives and keep testing as fun and relaxed as possible. By doing so, I’ll make sure everyone testing feels comfortable testing and ensure that results are accurate.

This concern welfare of others comes from my religious and personal experiences as a child and young adult.
When I started studying health and nutrition in September 2014, my goals were, to find out the proper foods that a person should consume to lose weight and to find out what type of workouts burn the most fat. In October, 2014, I volunteered to become a fitness instructor at a Herbalife fit camp, where I helped lead out workouts for my local community. My objective was to help out the personal trainers that ran the camp wherever they needed the help at and to learn more about the proper nutrition choices that they offered to the community.
Environmental and intellectual wellness were my highest ranked scores and my lowest ranked score was in the occupational domain. Through observing the other domains of wellness I believe that this makes perfect sense in relation to my lifestyle and myself as a whole. The highest scores are due to my interest and satisfaction in these areas. Both environmental and intellectual wellness had factors which I voluntarily partake in my daily life. The lowest ranked score is due to an overall lack of interest and comfort. My wellness scores do not come as a surprise to me and solely offer different viewpoints of what I think properly describes my current health.

On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.
During my undergraduate studies, I spent time exploring the field of exercise science. I endured laborious coursework that molded my character into a strong-willed, disciplined student. As I deepened my knowledge of the human body, my passion for working in health care evolved to new heights. I also grew a fondness for learning new material and concepts. However, there are some habits that help one stay healthy if they remain consistent.
