Tattoos and body piercings should not cause problems in the workplace. How many tattoos and piercings a person has does not reflect a person’s work ethic. Body piercings and tattoos are a high topic of body discrimination and very many people are looked down upon for the tattoos or piercings they have chosen. Your gender and workplace are also key roles in tattoo and body piercing discrimination. What I am trying to get across is that no matter a person’s gender or the tattoos or piercings, one should not be factored out of having a job based off of the tattoo a person has. Tattoo and body piercing discrimination generally coincides with a person’s gender. Many people have went to court to sue industries for their discrimination, but were rejected. There should be laws against it because it is a type of discrimination against a person. There have been many claims sent to the house and senate about tattoo and piercing discrimination but have always been turned down. If there were laws against tattoo and body piercing discrimination, there would be less people living off unemployment checks. People with tattoos and facial piercings that cannot be taken out often end up not having jobs due to the fact that they have visible tattoos that cannot be hidden or covered such as, face, hand, and neck tattoos (U.S Navy Force). By living off of unemployment, people can barely provide for themselves, let alone for a family, and one’s with tattoos and other body modifications should not be opted out of that opportunity. Overall, if there were any laws against tattoo and body piercing/modification discrimination, less people would be in debt. The next time a bill is sent to the house and the senate, it should at least be looked at instead of being rejected right
