There are two angles that one could evaluate based on the information given from the interview. One large, important aspect that can be considered as an issue that can and most likely will occur is how the purchasing of the company will affect the future employees and patients that currently work or use the service of Columbia St. Mary's. A massive amount of changes will take place, which leaves many employees, and potentially patients, unhappy with these new changes. One way Tami Miller could slowly start opening up the changes to the company she works for is by revealing new information shortly after she is made aware of what specific changes are occurring. A majority of the time, companies will provide detailed information to their managers so they can communicate about the larger aspects of what could potentially be changing about the company. Employees do not want to remain unaware of the current situation. By updating her employees when she knows about them, Tami Miller could help make progress towards the updates that are occurring throughout the facility. It is essential that she use the proper communication skills that a manager possesses in order to deliver the news sensitively. Mary's, and how these goals impact their company. Tami Miller seems to know her mission statement for her company; she also knows the ways that her organization that she works for incorporates their mission statements into the communication process. Personally, having an outside view of the company, Columbia St. Mary's could communicate their mission statement more even more thoroughly to their employees and their patients. The possibilities are endless of how organizations or companies could reveal their mission statements. One possibility is that a corporation could create events that are beneifical for organizations such as cancer walks that also support the general mission of the company. By hosting or promoting special events such as these, Columbia St. Mary's could also bring these events into light for people to recognize how important they are. Another way Columbia St. Mary's could showcase their mission statement is by using advertisements regularly that highlight their passions for what they would like to accomplish. Great methods that Columbia St. Mary's could use for expressing their goals and mission is by creating advertisements on fliers, television, the radio, and more. Another way to use advertisement is to hire a graphic designer that regularly uses marketing techniques, as well as creative and artistic abilities, to create designs that
Both, vision and mission statements provide purpose to organizations. Therefore, they should set the foundation for the strategic planning process. However, if and organizations strategic direction evolves, leaders should consider revising the organization’s mission and vision
An organization’s mission statement communicates the purpose and values to not only the customer but also to the employees. A mission statement should not be confused with a vision statement. A mission statement is clear and concise, clearly stating who and what is important along with the direction of the organization. On the other hand, a vision statement communicates what needs to be done to achieve the mission statement. Furthermore, a mission statement should be brief, concise, and easily recitable by all employees (S. M. Coleman, personal communication, March 11, 2017). The example of a fire department’s mission statement titled “CitizenKARE” is the focus of this week’s assignment. The example attempts to communicate the department’s
Introduction: In this task I am going to be talking to you about the way my two organisations which are Tesco and British Heart foundation fulfil their purpose. I will also be including the way that the departments work together or individually to achieve the aims and objectives of the business including the business purpose. I will be extending the task be explaining what value statement and mission statement are and also the way that S.M.A.R.T objectives are used by organisations. Business use S.M.A.R.T objectives as a way to help them evaluate their aims and objectives, and see whether their aims are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed.
Riordan has identified criteria in four areas that define the company’s mission statement. First, the company focus is to have attitudes and abilities that exceed industry standards to provide solutions for customer’s challenges and lead the industry in Research and Development. Second, the mission for customer relationships is to be a solution for the customer, maintain quality, innovation, and customer service at a reasonable price. Third, to ensure the long-term viability of the company, the mission to the employees is to have an innovative and team oriented working environment, in addition to keeping the employees informed and supported. Lastly, the future of the company depends on maintaining profitability to allow growth in the company (Apollo Group, 2004).
An article discussing the importance of a mission statement states that a mission statements’ job is to outline the organization’s unique purpose and establish the basis of its values and traits, as well as describe the attitude that is to be expected of those a part of the organization. Furthermore, this philosophical foundation sets the “tone” for physical actions, meaning that the content of the mission statement can determine the behavior of personnel (Hitt & Ireland, 1992).
...There’s nothing like a bad economy to get people confused about what their mission is. They start thinking their mission is to reduce cost. That’s a tactic, that’s not our mission,’ Kullman said. During informal weekly meetings with employees, Ms. Kullman was amazed that the “number one question was about whether we are going to stick with our mission.” She quickly realized that “people are scared and in dire need of direction.” Making sure that people understand the mission and linking their daily activities to the company’s broader purpose is essential to reducing fear, maintaining morale and keeping employees motivated, Kullman said.

I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, “Maybe now I come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words to get my point across.”

Vision and mission statements play a vital role in the strategic planning of an organization. Aguinis (2013) states defining an organization’s current and future identity are a key component of the strategic planning process. Strategic planning creates a blueprint to chart an organization’s goals and to aid in the division of resources to properly achieve the established goals (Aguinis, 2013). Properly communicating the goals and identity of an organization are essential if employees are to completely understand their purpose and mission to the organization. A review of the vision and mission statements for Harley Davidson reflects certain insights into the identity of the organization but also reflects some areas of improvement in adequately including the eight characteristics of an ideal mission statement.
Whit the rise of globalization and technology companies are looking for every advantage to gain a strategic advantage. Having a vision, mission and values statement are one way companies have attained these advantages. A vision is a long term aspiration of where the company wants to go.
