Don’t you think that isolating a student away from school society is a little much? Just seeing all of the people who have been suspended, it just doesn’t seem to work. The student doesn’t get any education when suspended from school and they don’t seem to learn a lesson most of the time. Although, students make mistakes that get them into trouble, the main part of school is to learn and become more sociable. Schools shouldn’t allow suspensions because it risks a higher chance in dropping out, it doesn’t make students any more respectful, and students stay educated. If a student were to get suspended, then it would increase the chance of them getting held back, making them want to drop out. Suspension wouldn’t make students any more respectful, due to the fact that they most likely don’t use restorative justice. Restorative justice is an approach that focuses on nonjudgmental discussion, developing empathy, and repairing the damage done. Suspending students would also keep them out of school, which will make them less educated and make their grades worse. …show more content…

Suspensions increase the chance of dropouts because they risk a higher chance of also getting held back, which will make the student want to stop going to school. If a student were to get suspended four times in a school year, then they would get expelled. Only 49% of students who had entered high school with three or more suspensions on their record had dropped out. Some might think that students who behave poorly should be suspended, but in the end, it mostly ends in a dropout. Suspensions are the reason why so many students are dropping
