PADM 503: RESEARCH METHODS Survey Development Paper Survey Design Paper Your task is to design a questionnaire to be used in a survey among the students in the MPA program at Penn State. Click here for the detailed Survey Design Paper instructions. Here is an example: Belle County Example Self Study Activities Lessons 8-12 focus on the methods of conducting statistical analyses using SPSS. In each of these lessons, there is a self-study activity for you to practice. You are encouraged to practice using as many data sets as necessary until you feel comfortable conducting the analyses. These self study activities are designed to help you prepare for the quizzes and writing the Class Paper. No drop boxes are provided for these activities; you …show more content…
" Upload your assignment via Turnitin or the Survey Development Paper Submission in Canvas based on your instructor's preference. " Do not forget to include your name in your paper. " Paginate your paper. There is no specific page limit for this assignment. " You are NOT required to collect the data or send the questionnaire to the participants. You are only DESIGINING the questionnaire that should be ready to use. " You will not use SPSS for this paper. YOUR TASK Your task is to design a questionnaire to be used in a survey among the students in the MPA program at Penn State. The question you want to answer is "Are students satisfied with their educational experiences in the program?" You also want to find out if there are differences among different groups of students in their levels of satisfaction with the program. You want to find out particularly if there are differences in satisfaction between (a) male and female students, (b) younger and older students, and (c) full time students and part time students. [Note: Construct variables and indicators for the descriptions in this paragraph only; no other indicators should be included in your …show more content…
You should write the questions and organize them in the questionnaire in ways that will make it easy for respondents to understand the questions and answer them. Make sure that the questionnaire looks professional and ready to mail. In the paper you will submit, you should address the following questions/items. Respond to each question/item separately and clearly. Separate your responses with section headings. Do not combine them, even though this may create some redundancies in your presentation. See the file "Bell County Example" as an example of how you should organize your paper. The points you will earn for each question/item is indicated in a bracket 1. What are the names of your variables? You may provide short names (like the abbreviations SPSS uses), but you must also provide long and meaningful variable names. [1 points] 2. What is your conceptual model (independent and dependent variables)? Draw a chart to show them clearly. [3 points] 3. What are the conceptual definitions of your variables? Define each variable clearly and separately.[6
In response to the question set, I will go into detail of the study, consisting of the background, main hypotheses, as well the aims, procedure and results gathered from the study; explaining the four research methods chosen to investigate, furthering into the three methods actually tested.

There are a lot of dependent variables that play a major role in this study. These dependent variables are GPA, graduations rates, feelings overall about the school, faculty student involvement, campus involvement, and high school experiences.
Evaluate the appropriateness and thoroughness of the data analysis procedures, and clarity of the results presentation. Do not become overly concerned about technical statistical aspects of the analysis.
The input variables are the ones that I can change in order to affect the experiment and the outcome variables are the ones I will measure to see how the input variable has affected it. Input Variables --------------- Amount of calcium carbonate Amount of hydrochloric acid Surface area of calcium carbonate Concentration of hydrochloric acid Temperature of hydrochloric acid Introduction of a catalyst Outcome variables ----------------- Amount of calcium chloride released Amount of water released Amount of carbon dioxide released Change in weight

The researchers went through the proper channels to get permission to carry out a study using the students who volunteered to participate. The research was conducted using a variety of different survey methods that were chosen to determine the degree and/...
Identify the chosen research method (experimental, survey, observation or correlational research) and if appropriate, the design used. (1 mark) I am using a lab experiment as my research method. I am using an independent groups design. PB4: Identify the advantages(s) and disadvantage(s) of the chosen research method. (2 marks)
...d for consent to proceed with the study. The participants were given thorough instructions that at any during the survey you can withdrawal your participation in the research, and that this is to benefit research to society. Participation is this survey was voluntary was emphasized. Participants were told that the surveys should take no longer than fifteen minutes and the personal information will remain confidential their results may be shared, but for research purposes only. The questionnaire will have a demographic sheet and a 50 item questionnaire divided into two sections. One part has a four point Likert scale (0= Almost Never, 1=Sometimes, 2= Often, 3 =Almost Always) and the other part is a selection of A or B. It was also reiterated that the participants had the right to withdraw from the research study at any time; there will be no consequences or penalty.
Questionnaire is a written genre that aims to gather information through a series of questions on a given topic to finally give overall scores on it. So that, we can say that it is a research tool used to collect, quantify and eventually compare the information collected.
During the study, each spring from 2002-2004 a group of students was added to the study, having a total of 3 groups. During the first wave of this explanatory study, respondents were
I prepared a questionnaire and included all the relevant questions as stated in the assignment. I was fortunate to get a prompt reply with a narrative description. A phone interview was scheduled on September 23rd to fill in the gaps of the questionnaire which help me in articulating the details for the questionnaire. Since I already had a questionnaire completed by the manager, I was able to formulate more questions based on the questionnaire. This made my note-taking using MS OneNote easy and aided me in preparing the content for this
The research carried on both quantitative approach and qualitative approach. It began with quantitative approach—questionnaire. Bryman and Bell (2003) asserted that mail or postal questionnaires are most popular forms of questionnaires. Another form—self-completion questionnaire was also common because of the overlap with postal questionnaire to some extent.
I made the questionnaire with the help of www.surveymonkey.com and I linked it into the most popular community webpage so everybody could fill it, who was interested in the topic. 3.2 – Data and Participants To get
