Bibliography page 7 Question a: Explain the essential guidance activities within Life Orientation Being a teacher is an enormous responsibility. We as teachers can either be carriers of positive or negative behaviour towards learners. A good teacher is someone who guides students rather than someone who is a totalitarian in the classroom. We as teachers should also create a warm and protective environment where learners feel free to realise their full potential. Sometimes the teacher’s caring attitudes could have a positive influence on the learners. Their self-esteem can be lifted because it could create ambitions in their minds for future academic success. Teachers should be open minded person and respect the learner’s diversity and give a caring attitude towards learners. It is important that the learners need to be informed about the divorce process and how it is going to happen. It is important that they be kept in mind when there are any decisions that affect them. It is much better not to have a ‘label’ attached to them, for example “that of divorced” but rather for them to just be kids! Taking the above mentioned guidelines into consideration it is also important that learners need to be provided with coping skills before a crisis occurs. Such skill may include: an understanding of what constitutes a crisis; an awareness of feelings, thoughts or unfinished business that could be reactivated by a crisis; changes in feelings and thoughts that occur over time; coping strategies and behaviours; AND to do research in our own community regarding crisis management services.
All these principles will be useful in the crisis. Be aware of hazards during the crisis. A person should be aware of client’s hands because if they have anything in their hands, there is a risk of getting hurt. Be aware of weapons/chemicals that are in easy reach of the clients. A helper should be aware of escape routes if things get out of hands. Always maintains a safe distance when interacting with others. Contrary to the similarities of both models, The ABC Model of Crisis Intervention is used as an assessment consisting of three components: A- achieving contact, B-boiling the problem down to basics and C-coping (Kanel, 2010). Kanel (2010) suggest that the ABC Model of Crisis Intervention is designed for a client whose functioning level has decreased following a psychosocial stressor. It’s most effectively applied within 4 to 6 weeks of the crisis. The Seven Task of Assessment consists of the following seven tasks: (1) Initiating Contact, (2) Defining the Crisis, (3) Providing Support, (4) Examining Alternatives, (5) Re-establishing Control, (6) Obtaining Commitment, and (7) the Follow Up (James, 2013). The Seven Task Assessment is a more detailed assessment focusing solely on the difficulties faced by the client due to a severe crisis. It allows for a closer encounter with the client to evaluate the crisis’ severity, their current emotional status, alternative methods, support systems and coping

Not one single theory or school of thought embraces every view of human crisis or all the models or systems of crisis intervention (Janosik, 1984). An interview, directed by the student, provides a short-term overview of the interviewee’s viewpoints relevant to crisis planning and intervention. As an counseling in preparation I decided to interview Mrs. Tosha Wearing. She is a guidance counselor at Green Sea Head Start School in Green Sea, South Carolina. She administers the Green Sea School Counseling Program, which is designed to be comprehensive and developmental, with an emphasis on prevention. This includes large group guidance, small group and individual counseling, and consultation with staff, parents and community. Mrs. Wearing is a trained professional with a Masters' in Guidance and Counseling. She provides activities to enhance students' academic progress by addressing issues such as conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, study skills, and self-esteem. She also teaches the skills needed for coping in our fast-paced and ever-changing world.

7). In order to obtain academic achievement learning needs to be challenging, yet exciting. The teacher needs to be able to facilitate the learning process for different cultural and linguistic groups. Teachers also need to understand and teach students that learning does not occur in a box and that there is a world outside of the classroom. In order for a teacher to be effective they need to have knowledge of the three dimensions and teach in a culturally sensitive matter. They need to create structured learning environments, implement a supportive classroom environment, and provide access to resources for CLD students who have learning
The communication process is not something that begins when a crisis rears its ugly head rather it is a process that takes place in preparing for a crisis before it happens. While the term crisis represents a blanket term used to describe many situations, each situation is unique, thus presenting different obstacles to overcome. However, with a well-established advanced plan in place an organization places itself in a position to overcome and work around obstacles. The development of a comprehensive crisis management plan is one achieved through effective communication where each member of the crisis management team has an advanced shared understanding of his or her role and responsibility during a time of crisis (du Pr'e, 2005).
1. How do you see the foundational documents for the field playing a role in how you understand student engagement? What is the role of the student affairs profession in the student learning process?
In this essay, I will explain my educational philosophy—the set of beliefs, principles, and precepts that make up the foundation of my conduct as a teacher. I believe that there are three main purposes of education: (1) developing good citizens, (2) encouraging personal self-growth, and (3) preparing students for success through job preparation and the teaching of life-skills. These three objectives are similar to the thoughts of the noted educator and philosopher Mortimore Adler.
Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
In the world we live in today, divorce has unfortunately become a normal thing in our lives. Many married couples are getting divorced for many reasons; problems in the marriage, either a spouse having an affair, a loss of feelings, and many other types of complications. Many divorces involve children who are young and due to their age do not understand what is really going on. We all know someone who has dealt with divorce. Children are the ones who are typically affected the most by the divorce and they will have to learn to cope with their parent’s divorce at such a young age, affecting them in positive or negative ways.
My philosophy on education and learning is simple; to teach my future students to the best of my ability to achieve academic success. As well as getting to know my students well. Getting to know a little of their background can help make a difference in our teaching career. As a teacher, we care for our student’s educational needs and to achieve a full potential in their learning ability. I believe that education is an individual, unique experience for every student who enters a classroom. Having a passion for teaching and providing students with a proper education should always be a teacher’s top priority.
In my teaching practice, as a Health and Social Care Teacher, I try to identify and meet individual learner needs, boost their morale and encourage them using all the necessary available and on target resources. Values and attitudes were influencing the way our students were learning at all times; therefore, they are considered an important part of the curriculum, hence the purpose of teaching and learning resources is mostly to provide a source of learning experience for our students.
