The Human Synergistics Circumplex includes twelve thinking and behavioral styles that can positively or negatively affect an individual’s potential for success in business or other ventures. The styles are divided into three categories of Constructive, Passive/Defensive, and Aggressive/Defensive. The Life Styles Inventory is designed to help which of these styles are influencing your potential the most both positively and negatively. My inventory identified my primary thinking style as Humanistic-Encouraging. This style very accurately indicates that I am very thoughtful and understanding. I support others by knowing their needs, teaching and encouraging them, and always being available to answer questions or settle disputes. Frequently, I am sought out for advice or counseling as I am noted for my patience, understanding, and respect of confidences. Managers, coworkers, and subordinates all recognize these traits in me and this leads them to desire an opportunity to work with me regardless of the size, length, or arduousness of the project. The plain and simple statement that sums this up is to call me a ‘people person’. My secondary style is actually shown to be a tie between both Affiliative and Conventional styles. Conventional seems to support my primary style through points that I am agreeable, reliable and steady, and very respectful towards others, but acts to the contrary with suggestions of seeking praise and an overt concern for appearances. The Affiliative style strongly supports my Humanistic-Encouraging style. I am relaxed, cooperative, helpful, diplomatic, sincere, and strongly support inclusion. My desire to adhere to the rules, however, is in contrast to the Achievement style that is sought after and very effective in leaders of high performing organizations. If I desire to become one of those respected leaders known for making good things happen then I must set goals, display ambition, and drive towards results. Understanding why people do what they do has baffled people for centuries. The Myers-Briggs Personality test has answer a few of these questions. Are you an Extrovert or an Introvert, Sensor or iNtuitive, a Thinker or a Feeler, a Judger or Perceiver? Once you have the tools to understand yourself, you are capable of understanding others. How does your personality complement a coworker, a family member? How can I be more understanding based on my knowledge of how a coworker comes to conclusions about life and their surroundings? Humanistic personality is any personality theory that asserts the fundamental goodness of people and their striving toward higher levels of functioning. Humanistic personality theory emphasizes that we are positively motivated and progress toward high levels of function, in other words, there is more to human existence that dealing with hidden conflicts (Morris & Maisto p. 364). I think that is relates to my personality development I am seeking higher levels of function. I am very motivated and progress toward bigger rewards for myself.
For this project; I will be discussing the findings of my personality type. According to “Jung’s Personality Test”, I am an ENTJ. Various sources point to this type as;” The Executive.” The research I have done has brought tremendous insight into; who I am as a person, the functions of my thinking process and how to utilize my strengths to be more of an efficient/successful person. I also learned about the various careers the best suit my personality type which; helps me when It comes to job seeking after graduation. It is very important to know yourself and see how you can maximize on your God given potential. For that reason, I am very glad I took the personality test and studied this subject manner. According to Carl Jung’s typology theory each individual develops personal preferences which become the foundation for how they face life’s challenges and interact with others. Based on this knowledge Isabel Briggs Myers developed the Myers-Briggs Type indicator (MBTI). This test helps individuals identify and study their individual preference and those of others. After taking the Jung Typology Test, which is based on the MBTI, it was confirmed that my four dominate personality preferences are Introversion, iNtuition, Thinking and Judging. I am responsible, in my job and life. As a maximizer, I focus on long-term goals and strive toward excellence. As a nurse, working in an environment of change, the strength of my personality allows me to adapt easily and figure out the best way to accomplish tasks (Strengths, 2012). I also took the DiSC Work of Leaders Profile to analyze my style. The results indicate I fall between Steadiness and Conscientiousness, leaning more towards Steadiness which gives me the style SC.
The trait I believe I reflect most is caring. I am always available when my friends, or even strangers, need help. I hope that I am a good person for someone to talk to as I am open-minded enough to never judge someone for their misfortunes or wrong doings. This brings me to the other trait I relate to most, which is open-minded. I believe that I am able to understand most people’s point of view in situations even if they seem to be in the wrong. Two other traits I relate to very much, however not as much as the aforementioned traits, are knowledgeable and risk-taker. I am knowledgeable not only in the sense that I am intelligent but also that I am on a journey of seeking higher knowledge and the secrets the world has to offer me. Knowledgeable can help me in my area of risk-taking by allowing me to not take risks that will produce a dangerous outcome. I am a risk-taker in my personal life more than my educational one because I find joy in new experiences and enjoy being adventurous and taking risks. The traits that I particularly relate to are balanced, a thinker, and reflective. I view myself as a thinker due to the immense amount of time I spend pondering the spiritual aspect of life. Although I would possibly describe myself as a thinker, I would have a harder time describing myself as reflective because I prefer to live in the now and not reflect back onto my sad past. Balanced is a trait that I see in myself but I also me failing at being balanced always. I tend to balance time between friends poorly, however not by intention. Also, I need to work on balancing my time spent on projects and assignments in school. The traits on the list I relate to the least are principled, inquirer, and communicator. Although I am principled, I find myself being more open to ideas and possibilities, that some people believe are wrong. I am not as stubborn as many principled people are, my opinion is

There is so many different personalities in the world, and how boring would it be if we all acted the same. “Every society and social group has values, experiences, and understandings that are widely shaped among members but may not be endorsed by those outside of the culture or group” (Wood, 2016, p.54). This is your personal identity , which is how you choose to live your life and what you stand for. Your idenity can be shared closly with other people. However, your personality is uniquily your own, this is the way you have decided to represent your idenity (Hontoy, 2015). I learned that I am an ESTJ type, extravert (19%), sensing (12%), thinking (1%), and judging (44%). Some of the concepts that I read about my personality type I recognized in myself and some opened my eyes to new concepts about myself (Humanmetrics, 2016).
The Jung Typology Test is designed to give the participant a 4-letter formula which describes strength preferences of one’s personality type. The formula is based on whether the participant favors Extraversion or Introversion, Sensing or iNtuition, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving when it comes to the participant’s general attitude. One will also receive a Temperament, which is based on one’s personality type formula, and can be used to make somewhat accurate predictions of the participants preferred behavior. Apart from that, I'm curious and therefore I get relatively easy enthusiastic about certain ideas, things, etc. I also do not shrink back from challenges - on the contrary, most of the time I love to accept challenges.
After taking the survey, my results depicted that my primary style of thinking is Affiliative. I find this someone accurate in how I live my life, however there are characteristics I exhibit which diminish my affliliative personality. I find that I am continuously trying to find that perfect relationship or bond with someone. Frankly, I find it hard to make connections with others because my continuous need to be perfect. I find that my closest and best relationships are those who have common values, way of living, and ideals about living life. Once I find a relationship that is trusting, I try to maintain it to my best ability. I am very easy to talk to, however my best communication is with others that have the same values. I express my liking for the other person by showing some generosity and kindness.
Trait approach covers the big five personality traits: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. These five traits have been identified as the most identifiable personality traits, even across cultures and societies. According to McCrae, Costa, and Busch’s (1986) study on personality system comprehensiveness, the big five personality model included the five traits most identified with by individuals asked to describe themselves and others. I found this segment of the class especially intriguing as it helped me not only learn so much about myself, but also take a deeper look into the personality of my family, peers, and even strangers. I am also more conscious of how I self-monitor my personality traits. For example, I am very much so an introverted person but at times I try to be extroverted based off the environment. In highly social environments, I consciously smile and try to talk to people because I want to be perceived in a favorable light, not actually because I feel the need to be sociable. In other words, I don’t want to be perceived as odd. I believe I developed this form of self-monitoring because when I am introverted at social events people will constantly ask me if I’m ok since I’m quiet, which makes me uncomfortable as they make me the focus. Being the center of attention makes me anxious, and therefore to prevent that I have developed being a fake-extrovert to avoid it. This exemplified how I apply self-monitoring to my everyday life.
