I am very interested in Artist Repertory Theatre's Summer Costumes Internship. I feel I am exceptionally well suited for the position because of my background in costume production, and I am incredibly excited by the Prospect of working with ART because my theatrical aesthetic and mission aligns with the mission of ART: to create challenging, innovative theatre which compels the audience to reflect on themselves and the world around them.
I am currently a freshman in Boston University's School of Theatre pursuing a degree in Costume Design. Through my experiences at BU in the past year, I have gained significant experience working collaboratively with my peers and professionals to mount an average of ten productions each quarter, ranging
On March 31, I had the pleasure of seeing Hello Dolly at Mandeville High School. As a talented theater student at the school, I take the shows that are put on very seriously. Being involved in the show, helping make set pieces, and working at the box office brings light to me as an individual, every little helping hand counts. I want to make sure that my school represents theater in the best way possible. With this production put on, I am proud to say that I am a theater student at Mandeville High.
Working In The Theatre: Costumes. American Theater Wing. 20 Jan. 2015. He also talks about he has to help the audience to know where to look. Long discussed about a time where he would have to make the leading actors the understudy so he can figure out how to make the other characters “pop” as
From student newspaper work, to electrical engineer, to service learning, to informational technology, to the audio-visual, to my construction skills, my experience has shown that education can happen in a variety of settings. I am a highly adaptable candidate with a diversity of talents. I look forward to discussing opportunities at your school where you might see my gifts meet your needs. I am available by phone, email, or otherwise to talk further and look forward to the
There were make-up stains on the countertops along with trash on the floor. Quite often expensive costumes and personal belongings were strewn about. A few others would stay after the show with me to help clean up. The abundance of lost items in the dressing rooms sparked my interest to create a “Lost and Found” area. The director told me she appreciated my dedication to keeping things neat and organized. When our Sunday show awards ceremony rolled around, I watched the same people accept awards again, thinking I would not receive one. To my surprise, I received a ribbon and an invitation to be a Student Director for the remainder of high school. For the rest of ‘The Great Gatsby’ and throughout our spring show ‘Legally Blonde’, I worked hand in hand with our director and choreographer. I was with my fellow actors from 3:30pm to sometimes as late as 10pm. We would eat dinner together, talk with each other and do our homework. The experience of working as a team (similar to being in a close-knit family) gave me a sense of belonging and acceptance while striving to put on a spectacular production. I finally found my niche. The drama department was a place where I could be myself without feeling judged by others. For ‘Legally Blonde’ they used my design on the billboards, t-shirts and programs. I was so proud of myself that my hobby, graphic design, became something useful. This helped further boost my self-esteem and

Varying Issues Corresponding to the School Dress Code Shelby A. Scholle Newbury Park High School Abstract Dress code enforces the modest dress of students, preventing bullying and distractions. Numerous people believe clothing is a distraction and when eliminated the school environment is more professional and gives a better education to a student. Authority figures consider the school apparel enforcements are constitutionally sound, not affecting the child’s right to freely express, and providing a professional and working setting causing a better learning environment and decreased amount of bullying due to clear differences in appearance. However, opposers disagree with the restrictive code because of its limitations on individuality causing students to conform, sexist ideas in the form of punishment and how forms of clothing causes a distraction, and influencing rape culture. Costs for an advanced educational environment, positive, and negative effects will be explored within this paper to determine whether or not the dress code is necessary for an advanced learning environment or limiting the student's ability to express themselves.
As part of my studies I was required to go on placement for a month of term. I chose to go on placement this term as I thought there were more opportunities over the Christmas period. For two weeks of my placement I worked for Rocket Scenery, Because of Rockets reputation for high-quality theatre scenery. Based in Nottingham rocket scenery has 2475sq meters of workshop space which is used to create sets, storing and touring sets overseas. The aim of Rocket Scenery is to create stress free sets for persons or organisations, achieving the most demanding of set designs.
I began, initially at CSM, as a volunteer archives assistant, learning how best to organise, accession and catalogue items in the collection. I have proven myself to be a committed, capable and reliable intern, and am responsible for assisting the curator and senior members of staff with their activities and
Actors don’t find the cure to cancer nor do they break records on the swim team. All we do is tell stories. What else are actors really credited with? We basically just make ourselves vulnerable to a situation and follow directions really well. Clearly there is more bookwork to it but in a cut copy sense, we tell stories in an underpaid and overworked environment through really weird interpretation. I became fully involved with the theatre department at Douglas in March. A few days later I started working at a pho restaurant. Fast-forward to August and several other obligations have rooted their way into my time. In retrospect, I never actually expected to obtain a schedule without procrastination lodged into it once this school year started; it’s quite the transition going cold turkey. In conclusion, the only contribution I bring to our community is being myself (and not being myself) in front of audiences and serving hot bowls of noodles. But the principal reason why I do any of this is because I enjoy surrounding myself with people who know a lot about a lot and I believe if you put out positive energy and work, it’s reciprocated back to you through judgment. I credit Sartre for molding my lifestyle with a statement made up of merely four
One is the scenic designer- this is someone who draws out what he wants the set to look like. He sketches it, shows the colors wanted for paint (it is usually up to the scenic designer to talk colors to the design team: the director, lighting director, and costume director), and picks the materials. Then, it is brought over to the build/set side of the equation, led by the technical director. The technical director gives the build crew their assignments, and once everyone has a blueprint or team, the process of building begins. This particular piece of technical theatre is what I am personally interested in. My dream job is to become a set designer or somehow be involved in a build
Theater has been the driving passion in my life since I was 10 years old. The amazing thing about my love for theater, however, is that it allows me to volunteer and be active in my community. While I love doing community service like Feeding South Dakota or Project Warm Up with the Serve and Learn Student Association at my school, the most rewarding type of community service always stems from being able to use your personal strengths and talents to the benefit of the community.
I consider myself an analyst of fashion, by how I am always learning and interpreting how I see the industry in not only my studies but in my surroundings. From the beginning I have always promised to never stop learning, I view my education not only as training to master a skill but as a lifestyle. Answered simply, Philadelphia University will be my new outlet for learning the latest in the fashion industry. It will allow for me not only to study the past, present and future of fashion, but it will give me a chance to research and peruse my interests within the field. Foremost the Global Fashion Project I will take part in during my curriculum will not only impart career driven aspirations, but it will elicit my passion of gaining real world experiences outside of the classroom. Additionally I would like t...
With a major production on the line, much is expected of a techie. Time commitment is one of the major things needed, because being a techie takes numerous hours of the week. Productions and rehearsals can range from a few months to many years, and they must be available for most rehearsa...
All in all, this project was a great learning experience. I got the opportunity to experiment with makeup in addition to working with costumes and design and expanded my knowledge on the importance of each individual piece to film making. Throughout this journey, my knowledge and understanding of the vitality of costume making grew in every way shape in form. I am honored to now say that I had the experience of growing and understanding in a different aspect of film.
