Global Fashion Enterprise degree. When asked how this program at Philadelphia University would benefit me, I will begin by giving a background on my previous education. I started my undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College in upstate New York pursuing a Bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising. After being in the program for a year I was confident in knowing I needed a change. My journey changed drastically when I moved down to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I transferred to the Art Institute under the same major. I will be graduating …show more content…

In addition to pursing my full time Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising, I was involved in the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale’s Honor Program. This opportunity was split up into four courses and consisted of me planning and executing nine fashion events that were either private or were coordinated around the Fashion Design Department. Some events I have helped in coordinating are, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Swim Week, Indie Fest, Joe DiMaggio Baby, Love and Family Expo, Not My Daughter Breast Cancer Awareness, Chocolate Allure, Simon Fashion Now, Worth Avenue and Winterfest Boat Parade. The final project of this program was to plan a successful fashion event on my own. That event was a gallery exhibit, called ‘Exposed’ which showcase fashion styling imagery and the final Fashion Design Bachelor Degree graduates final collections. The show was a success and allowed me to master my skills are an event
As a soon to be graduate at the University of Tennessee, I have a strong background in hospitality, and tourism management. As a hospitality and tourism management major, I developed very strong leadership qualities, including event coordinator for the University of Tennessee’s fundraising event, which raised $50,000 in student scholarship. I also held a sales and marketing internship, where I was able to gain hands on experience with negotiating contracts and driving hotel revenue. Also, while at this internship I was able to create a virtual reality-marketing tool

For the past two summers, I worked as a student ambassador for the Summer Immersion Program (SIP). I found out about SIP through my prep school’s (Sandy Spring Friends School) international department. My responsibilities included organizing activities for 100 international summer students with my fellow student ambassadors. I also gave tours through the Washington D.C, Baltimore, NYC, and Philadelphia areas. On the trips, I was responsible for 15-20 kids as I lead them through the big cities and explained anything that they misunderstand. I took students’ attendance on and off the bus. This incredible experience has profoundly influenced my decision to pursue a business degree which would allow me to pick up where I left off last summer; working with SIP as a business leader.

With African Americans being apart of the fashion industry, they faced many hardships. However, they created a distinctive voice in the history of fashion. Throughout the early twentieth century, Blacks designers influenced the fashion industry in America, having, “a system and structure for maintaining their particular type of fashion.” African American fashion was very popular and caught the attention from the media. Department stores held successful fashion shows, screened fashion movies, and staged fashion pageants. Fortunately, African Americans were allowed to attend these events, yet they were not welcomed. Fast-forward to today, the fashion industry has opened up several doors for African American designers, stylist, and models. However,

Fashion is so important in today's time, not just socially but economically as well. In today’s time, nothing is able to exist without some sort of uniform or line of fashion. Fashion sets the tone in almost any area of activity no matter what event, place, or reason, people are always questioning what is proper to wear and if it is in. One concern or mutation in the fashion world is the speed of consumption and renewal by the logic of fashion that is being accelerated year after year, generating visible effects such as the depletion of natural resources and the alternation of the environment. Younger generations do not take interest in past events because most say that they were not born at the time when the event happened so it is not as important to them but it
hion has immense influence on people. As we live in an postmodern society, where everything is changing fast due to globalization, we communicate through our cloth to others the different roles we play in everyday life. It is something which society created throughout the centuries, as something expressing meanings and identities. Fashion plays one of the most important parts in its ability of giving the people a way of expressing their feelings. As Ralph Lauren once said, “Fashion is about something that comes from within you.” I desire to have my own clothing line and express myself through my clothing. The Academy of Art University, the fashion school, is best known for its fashion courses, and will provide me with the right amount of education to succeed in the fashion industry.
While growing up, I realized the benefits a person has when they personally own their own business. You can make your own schedule, personally control your finances, and essentially have complete control of your business Of course upon this realization; I came to the conclusion that I was going to be my own boss. I have always taken pride in how I present myself including how I dress. The limitless nature of fashion and its versatility has always intrigued me. One empowering aspect of clothing that is so fascinating is how it enables people to express themselves. Because of these interests, I have come to the conclusion that I wish to own a fashion boutique. In order to pursuit the path of becoming a fashion boutique owner, it is essential that I obtain a degree in business management, evaluate my own skills that make me ideal for the job, and
Imagine the feeling, while fashionistas are watching the runways of Paris, London or Milan to see what is happening in the fashion world, they also sit on the edge of their seats to see what Cape Town, South Africa is bringing to the stage! Priceless! Proud!
The philosophy with which I approach my education are that all institutions of learning are somewhat like a factory assembly line, where students are molded and are expected to meet certain specific standards by the time they graduate. Education is significantly important for a positive future. Education allows people to reach their fullest potential and help others later on reach their fullest potential. In this paper in I will try to provide information on how I came about choosing my career choice in the fashion industry, from academic excellence, life-long learning, collaboration, openness, integrity, and service.
