Reading Tawakkol Karman’s Noble Lecture, Karman starts by citing the Torah, the Bible, and the Koran because even though they’re three different religion texts their god is stating the same message to its people of you should not kill and peace. Karman views the future of the Arab world as a democracy where there is justice and freedom for everyone. Where she could prove how wrong violence and war could be with backfiring and devastating results. She sounds very optimistic about what she states because she was motivated to help people mostly women get their human rights. Karman sees the war of despotic leaders who oppress their own people the worse war. It’s awful that there are still dictators out there controlling the people’s freedom. But
1. The word face as defined today has many different connotations. Simply and most commonly it is often thought about as the part of the body, which is most often seen and recognizable to others. Because of this, it can be said to be one of the most vulnerable parts of the body. It can also be understood at a front or more often mask that people put up to disguise their true selves. The expression” that’s just a face” infers that the subject being talked about is hiding behind the face and is not being real or true to what they are. As Levinas explained his meaning of the face in Totality and Infinity he drew upon this idea. In his view, if something had a face then it was more accessible and easier to deal with. In the article titled “Pashtana’s Lesson” by Beth Murphy, she records the story of a 15 year-old Afghani girl who has a fiery passion for acquiring knowledge and pursuing education, but old traditions oppress her devotion to study. Pashtana is in the 7th grade at an all girls school which has been rejected by the elders in their community, asked to be torn down, or turned into an all boys school. We take aesthetic pleasure in the speech of those who motivate us and adopt from them a number of values and beliefs that we agree with. The likelihood of individuals basing their ideals and decision making process off of accessible and prolonged exposure to certain influences is great. These underlying unidimensional prejudices cause us to be biased in our opinions. Various forms of literature are able to help their readers to become more aware of their prejudices. Though the messages we adopt from these texts, we are able to realize the importance of basing our opinions from multiple sources and perspectives. Literature has traveled great lengths to help me become more cognitive of my prejudices, and encourages me to seek different perspectives before formulating an opinion.

In Herman Hesse's Siddhartha, Unity is a reflecting theme of this novel and in life. Unity is "the state of being one or a unit; harmony, agreement in feelings or ideas or aims, etc." Unity is first introduced by means of the river and by the mystical word "Om." In the book Righteous Mind by Jonathan Hadit a social psychologist at the University of Virginia discusses why he believes people more specifically the American people cannot get along in today's society. Haidt’s research examines the foundations of morality, and how morality varies across cultures–including the cultures of American liberals, conservatives, and libertarians. Hadit considered himself a strong supporter of liberals and then he started his research. In the book, he discusses, how the American public is divided by politics and Religion. He covers the topics that no one desires to talk about because people who decide to touch on these topics end up in arguments because no one can simply agree on political and religious views. According to Jonathan Hadit, people cannot get along because people do not understand where the other party is coming from, and they want the other party to understand their point of view and to agree with them.
The idea of a society where there is no freedom and the people have no rights, can be described through the warning foresights of a dystopia. In the novel, 1984, a country has lost all liberties to their government and war is commonly used as a political tool, as our government has done in the past. As our country continues down the path to becoming the dystopia described by George Orwell, it is seen that war is used as a political tool to help the government’s own agenda. By using wars to control the social views of the people, the products and wealth of the country, and the opinions of politicians and government officials, the governments of the United States and the country of Oceania can promote their own ideologies on others.
Religion has always played a major role in the development of human society. This is the main reason why it has so often been used for unjust purposes. The concept of war is in complete opposition to what Islam and Christianity teach their followers. Still, by different means, religion was and is often brought into play to cater for the interests of powerful people.
In conclusion your own decisions is what leads to downfall of this and the next society because you are the leaders of this one and will create the leaders of the next and you my friend are the key to the next safe society so look at yourself in the mirror understand the role of the prophet towards humanity and then THINK! And free up your ideas don’t let them get suppressed.

With the use of the word Jihad by men such as Saddam Hussein or Osama bin Laden, many people believe that Jihad highlights the violent nature of Muslim people. However, in its pure form, Islam is not at all violent. Muslims are taught to fulfill Jihad through four methods: the heart, the tongue, the hand, and the sword (Jihad 2). The first is the internal struggle to cleanse oneself of internal evil. Fulfilling Jihad through heart and hand are directed more toward supporting what is right and correcting which is wrong. Raising the sword in defense of Islam is only prescribed when all other methods have failed and Muslims have come under attack. The authors Greg Austin, Todd Kranock and Thom Oommen of God & War: Religious War Audit would agree that religion does not affect the peace in the world. they do not believe wars are caused by religion but simply the wars we come to see as being caused by religion are simply “wars of nationalism, liberation of territory or self-defense.” i will agree that some of the wars that have occurred in history aren 't related to religion but Greg, Todd and Thom is mistaken because they overlook recent events that have taken place in the world. for example 9/11. the terrorist attacks did not occur on self-defense or liberation of territory. those acts were brought on by their own religious beliefs in the Koran. the Koran was essentially a rule book on removing the enemy from this world with a different religious view “and fight with them until there is no more fitna and religion is all for allah.” (Qur 'an 8:39) their religious beliefs are build on killing anyone who doesn 't believe in their god. without muslims belief in religion would 9/11 never had happen? some still disagree and believe 9/11 happened for political reason/ though i concede that, that may be a possibility and a supporting cover up, i still insist that religion caused those
Fear, instilled into our brains through violence and driven by a leader with a purpose. The rise of Islam is driven by fear, whether it be the fear of damnation through the divine or by the violence others bestow upon us. Gordon says, “History has shown repeatedly that ideas can provide powerful motivation for extraordinary deeds.” (11) Muslims are masters of using this fear/violence to make their religion dominant; Muhammad’s use of violence to spread the Muslim religion, how Muslim diplomacy leads to violence, and how it shaped our modern day views on the Muslim religion for the worse. In this paper, I want to show why the use of fear along with Muslim violence made Islam grow and expand at such a rapid rate.
“Are political Islam and democracy compatible?” This question has been troubling both Muslims and non-Muslims living in East and West for a long time now. Contemporary Islamic political thought has become deeply influenced by attempts at reconciling Islam and democracy. Muslim thinkers who deal with political debates cannot disregard the significance of the democratic system, as it is the prevailing theme of modern western political thought. Hence, it is necessary for any alternative political system, whether it is religious or secular, to explore its position with regards to democratic government. In fact, a large literature and media publications have developed over the last century on this heated discourse of democracy versus Islam. While many argue that Islam has all the ingredients of modern state and democratic society, many other reject the phenomena “modernism” and “democracy” as a whole because of their “foreign nature”—alien to “Islamic values”. For Islamists and modernists, the motivation for such effort to either embrace or reject democracy often is to remove suspicion about the nature and goals of Islamic movements and Islamic revivalism or resurgence. But before diving into this discourse, one needs to understand the definition and origins of “democracy.” Although purely a Western ideology in its origin, there is no consensus on the definition of “democracy” as a political system.
