Successful Coursework

Benjamin Franklin wrote, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Planning out the coursework for this semester will be a critical component for not only completing assignments but also allowing the opportunity to understand the material. Failing to schedule enough time for each module will result in hurried efforts and lack of understanding of the material. I believe that to be a successful graduate student one must not only do the coursework but be able to apply the knowledge gained. To embark on a successful semester, I will begin by reading through the course syllabus and then rereading it again to obtain an idea of the courses. Having an understanding of the material and expectations will allow for me to move through the weeks with a general understanding of what it required of me. With the syllabus, identifying the assignments and due dates will be essential to completing work on time, also looking at my work schedule and writing in projects or meetings that will take a great deal of time would be good to note also. After I have identified the assignments and due dates, along with my own work projects, I can then begin outlining best times each week to work on coursework. I already know that Tuesdays and Thursday are my busiest of days so putting more effort on Mondays and Wednesdays will be vital to staying on track. I also realized that I am easily distracted when others are around so my best time for course work will be right when I get home from work each day while I am still alone and most effective. I typically have about 2 hours each night before my significant other arrives home therefore if I can commit to utilizing that time to chip away at the weeks’ assignments I should be
