I will begin with a solidified schedule. I have requested RCAS tutoring for every class this quarter to review, prepare, and improve my understanding of my courses. Having RCAS tutoring will not only be to go in and ask quick questions, but rather to also set an hour for dedicated studying for each class. Having someone who is also capable in assisting me with any questions I have will make the learning process much smoother and better. In addition, I will be meeting Ms. Vosters every week as well to find ways to improve my studying habits, and to be held accountable. This meeting will not be the only thing keeping me accountable. I will have 2 documents printed out every week. One document requires signatures from myself and my professors.
This report aims to recognize the contemporary statutory framework for identifying and working with children with Special Education Needs and Disability in England (The SEND Code Of Practice). The report will pay particular interest in discussing the key elements which derives from the 2014 Children and Families Act practiced in relation to the Department for Education (DfE). The report will pry into the current changes of the SEND code of practice, its assessment framework, why these have been introduced and who these changes makes a difference to. To discuss this the report will be looking at a variety of sources to better understand the most important details also includes but not limited to newspaper report, recent research papers,
In addition, I promise to devote more time to familiarizing myself with the tutoring centers on campus.
My experience at the Brock Learning Lab tutoring a grade one student relates to the Ethics of Care mainly through the following:
School, especially high school, can be an overwhelming experience. New surroundings. New faces. No wonder, it is easy to lose one’s way while trying to navigate this uncharted territory.
Ability to use a COW and the internet. Ability to be able to add detail and describe person, event, or object accurately. Use of descriptive words.
During the final two to three weeks of the semester, I struggled with balancing my time between course assignments and research assistantship work. I was unable to complete 20 hours per week of research support with Dr. Benenson but I was able to complete an extra 10 hours or more per week after all my course work was submitted to make up this
As an educator, I have numerous learning goals for my students. In this unit, I have four that are the most significant. Students will be learning about descriptive statistics using the Engage NY curriculum. They will be deepening their understanding of descriptive statistics concepts they learned in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. Since this is a complex topic, the learning goals I created for my students are very specific and direct. These goals are aligned to the Common Core State Standards, have measurable objectives, and also have a condition, a behavior, and a criterion.
The Two Minute Drill is one of the best books I have read. The first time I read this book it wasn’t that good but then I read it I liked it a lot more. I like the book because I can relate to it. I think I think that I am like Chris Conlan that helps Scott get better at football and to stick up for people. The book teaches me to stick up for other people and to help others.
How willing am I to schedule my life to include time for study and preparation for class?
... a great trial run for me. I will use what I learned during this time for future reference. For example, if I am teaching something and everyone gets it wrong on a test I will have to re-evaluate myself and the way I am teaching. I may even have to find another way to teach it. I also have learned a trick that I will use with my students one day; to make side notes on what they missed and why they missed it. Sure it may take more time but some students have a fear of talking to teachers at first, so by doing this they won’t always need to talk to me, but if they feel that I am wrong with their grade they may have the courage to approach me. I really want to teach the students about the importance of keeping a planner too, not only because it helped me stay organized, but because of how much it helped me in general. I want the students to get the most out of my class.
As well as at home; I would be dedicating at least an hour per reading material and at least an hour per the coursework every week night. I would be added more study hours throughout the weekends as well. In situations where I need assistance I go to the ones who I know would help me best. My most recent situation where I needed assistance was at work. I was going through a bank reconciliation and I noticed the bank had processed a check twice. I have never seen this happen throughout the years; I immediately did some research and gathered as much knowledge about the situation as possible. Once I collected as much research I went to my boss who walked my through the process of how to handle this. Instead of doing the work for me, my boss was right beside me letting me contact the bank and fixing the error in our QuickBooks system. My boss knows that I excel better at learning new situations when I am more hands on with the
The school that I visited was new. It was the first year of the school opening. The school board had combined two schools into one, so the students had to adjust to their new environments and new individuals. They seemed to be getting along well with each other. Since the school is new the teacher has to adjust to new problems that araise. Times for the subjects and times for using the computer labs change. So the teacher must always be fixable for anything. In this observation of this classroom I learned about the enjoyment of teaching. How you have to adapt to each of the students.
Lesson study refers to a Japanese program of developing teachers’ profession during their teaching experience. It is a translation from Japanese word Jugyokenkyo which literally means study or research (Fernandez & Yshida, 2012). Fernandez and Yushida (2012) define it as “lessons that are object of ones’ study”. It means that through lesson study, the teachers explore their teaching-based research goals through the several steps which they have defined them earlier. These steps include: collaborative planning, observation, discussion, revising, re-teaching, and sharing reflection. Also, Dudley (2014) defines lesson study as a procedure in which teams of teachers do planning, teaching, observing, and analyzing learning and teaching collaboratively.
I attended a second grade class at Smallville Elementary on February 22, 2014; the class began promptly at 0855. There are 26 children in this second grade class. There are 15 male students and 11 female students. The student diversity is 2 Hispanics, 1 African-American, 1 East Indian, and 1 New Zealander (White but with an extreme accent). Three children were left-handed.
The students that I observed in the classroom were of middle to high school. I went to see 8th, freshman, 10th , and seniors classes, they seemed excited and very curious to why I was there. The middle school was more alive and rambunctious while I observed them. The High school kids were more relaxed, more comical. Some were paying attention while others seemed tuned out to the lecture or involved in socialization with friends within the class. By the end of the class Mr. Hasgil had restored the attention of everyone by using tactics such as history jeopardy with candy as the prize with the high school kids. In both he middle school and high school the kids were mostly Caucasian with a mixture of black, Asian , and Hispanic in the classes.
