There are a group of three students that have been observed in the first block of the morning for thirteen hours. These students will be identified as student A, student O, and student AA. During this class activities such as, having the entire class participate in games, fashion show preparation, 5 concepts were extracted. The first thing these observations show is how communicating is a strong factor in this group as well as important for the sake of putting the foremost effort in order to accomplish the goals that have been set by the teacher. The second concept that it shows is that roles are also principal for this group, every student has a role that they take on even if they have not assigned it themselves, these roles are what makes …show more content…
First, as said earlier communication is a strong factor shown in this group, communication is the conveying of feelings and sharing ideas, as well as exchanging information between indiviuals to gain better understanding of a subject. For example, on the 8th of this month our teacher assigned us to do a fashion show project, she allowed the students to choose which groups they wanted to be in, student O, student AA, and student A all decided to be in a group together, all students decided together on what they wanted to do. After a few minutes of discussing what concept they wanted to go for Student O decided on a concept and verbally communicated with the other students to make sure that they had all agreed on doing it. After the concept was chosen each student individually announced what clothing item they would wear, when student A was having trouble choosing what type of clothing style they wanted to wear student O would offer ideas showing them what kind of style they could wear, student A always welcomed the ideas and felt comfortable saying whether they disagreed with student O, or thought that it was a good
For my after school program observation I chose to observe the after-school program at Washington Elementary. This after-school program is held in a small gym and since the gym is used during the day for school activities there was no real floor plan to the program. A small carpet was set in the middle of the gym for circle time and the supplies and check in sheet were kept on a table. The rest of the room was filled with tables that are used for school breakfast.
There are 4 stages in group development. The first stage is orientation. During this stage of group of development, we got to know who each person was and what they were studying. My group members were Chris Davis, Maria Agosalim, Myra Portillo, Russel Clay, and Abrahana James. Our group leader was Abrahana James, an 18 year old business major. She assigned everyone to a certain task and made sure that everything was in order. Russel Clay, a 21 year old AG Economics major, was responsible for finding the background information on our problem. Maria Agosalim, a criminal justice major, was given to the task to host interviews with the cafeteria staff and taking pictures of the food stations in the cafeteria. Chris Davis, a 19 year old psychology major, and Myra Portillo, a 19 year old business management major, were responsible for providing the group with surveys to our problem. I am an 18 year old biology major and I was responsible for typing up all of the information that was provided by each group member, printing out the Agendas, and creating the power point presentation.
The first interaction I observed was of a female child who looked to be about eight years of age. She was throwing a fit because she wanted a toy from the store. Screaming and holding the toy to her chest, the child said "I want this and I'm going to have it!" At that point, the mother told the child that she can't have the toy because she isn't acting in a good way to receive it. The child then tries to hit her mother in the face. The mother says "Did you just try to hit me?" and her temper is visibly starting to rise. The little girl continues to scream about how she wants the toy and with one hand clutching the toy, she uses her other hand to push her mother away from her. Her mother yells at her not to push her as the child becomes
I observed one child from the infant age group, E, and another child from the young toddler age group, A. I observed these children at a daycare center in Bowling Green, OH. The center is a little outdated for my likely because of the age of the building, but the center has been around for a long time. This center accommodates children from six weeks old to kindergarten. I work at this daycare several days a week so doing observations was very easy for me because I personally knew these children. They room is decorated with bright green walls and carpeted floors. The infant and the young toddler room are enclosed in one room but divided by a short door. The infant room is set up much smaller than the young toddler room. The infant room has a maximum of eleven infants
Vanessa is walking towards block center, swinging her arms alternately and looking around the room, calling other children’s names and observing them in the class. When she reached at the block center, she stood straight with her hands on her hips and observing the shelves with baskets of different kinds of blocks. As she observed for about 30-40 seconds, she squats down and grabbed a white basket of small colorful blocks. She turned around 180 degrees and looked for the available place to sit. When she noticed a vacant chair and table, she smiled and started walking towards the chair holding the basket of blocks.
Riley and his mother is outside having some outdoor fun and learning new things in his surroundings.
Jordan is a 4 year 6 month old child. Her birthday is in October. She is from a divorced family. Her parents split custody of her and her 2-year-old sister. The children stay with their mother on Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Final Project Children go through various stages of development throughout their lives. As children progress through life they go through levels that are generally specific to their age range. Most children follow very closely to the typical phases of development. There is no direct guideline of what a child must go through to progress to the next stage, so progress is different for every kid. As children get older their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development starts to change and progress.
During my observations in a science classroom, I learned that science can be taught in different ways. The first science class I observed was an eighth grade STEM science class. During this class period students are given group projects where they are given time to come up with ideas, create, and test their projects. The day I observed this class they were working on the egg drop contest. Students needed to make their egg survive a drop of ten feet.
The teacher should put students in groups, identify roles of the people in each group, and have students read from the assignment. Each student will perform their role, and assist each other with any problems or answer any questions. The roles then switch amongst the students in the group, and the next section of the assignment is read. The process goes on until the entire selection is finished. The teacher’s job is to guide the students in their roles within their groups.
From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. During the meetings, we learn many concepts from the textbook, “Communicating in Small Groups: Principles and Practices” by Steven A. Beebe and John T. Masterson. We were able to learn different types of concept in the textbook and utilized it as a team to complete certain tasks. The three concepts that impacted my team and I are human

I attended a second grade class at Smallville Elementary on February 22, 2014; the class began promptly at 0855. There are 26 children in this second grade class. There are 15 male students and 11 female students. The student diversity is 2 Hispanics, 1 African-American, 1 East Indian, and 1 New Zealander (White but with an extreme accent). Three children were left-handed.
The students that I observed in the classroom were of middle to high school. I went to see 8th, freshman, 10th , and seniors classes, they seemed excited and very curious to why I was there. The middle school was more alive and rambunctious while I observed them. The High school kids were more relaxed, more comical. Some were paying attention while others seemed tuned out to the lecture or involved in socialization with friends within the class. By the end of the class Mr. Hasgil had restored the attention of everyone by using tactics such as history jeopardy with candy as the prize with the high school kids. In both he middle school and high school the kids were mostly Caucasian with a mixture of black, Asian , and Hispanic in the classes.
On the next two sections the same activity and same class discussion. While students are doing their activity I am secretly observing their attitudes; the way they speak, the way they move and the way they perform their tasks. I was very careful with my words that time, for me not to commit mistakes and because I want to get the attention of my students I remained serious all throughout the
