1. There are student leaders because their job is to help their section or band in any way they can. The band director and guard instructor cannot generally get to everyone to help so by having a student leader, it makes it more efficient to get to everybody. There are student leaders to help new people who join marching band and even people that have done marching band before. There are student leaders to maintain great sections for success. Any leadership positions can teach students effective skills needed throughout your life. There are many leadership skills that are used through high school and college and will be something that will always be valuable for me.

Helpfulness: This will help my section improve things they didn’t know how to do before.
Honesty: Being honest to my section will help them get better and build up trust for me and other peers.
Responsibility: As a section leader, I understand that there are things that need to be done and I have certain things that I need to do to improve my section. I also know that I am held accountable for everything that I do or don’t do. I realize I have responsibilities such as warm up, stretches, and helping others to improve.
Respect: I need to be respectful to my band director, guard instructor, and my section along with people in other sections. I will get respect from others if I am respectful to them.

The low reed section to me is not just my section, it is my family, and I would love to have the honor of calling myself mom. However, Lauren will always be the original mom and my biggest role model in band. She was the first one to give me hug whenever I was upset, she made sure I didn't get sunburned during band camp, and was overall the most loving, caring section leader I most likely will ever have. As section leader, I would like to devote all my time, love, and leadership to my section and show what an amazing marching experience truly is. It is evident that a college marching band, as a group, has a set of common goals that they want to reach. As a team, they want to provide entertainment for those going to the games by playing their music. Their aim is to set an encouraging tone throughout the duration of the game.
