The business world is full of driven, determined young and old entrepreneurs, all hoping to make it in the competitive industry. A business person encompasses a variety of different virtues: leadership, persistence, confidence and people skills; however, not many people had what Steve Jobs embodied. Born in the vibrant San Francisco, California, Jobs was always interested in technology and its perks. “Early on Jobs showed a proficiency in electronics and a thirst for education. In junior high, he complained that he was not learning anything in his school, so his parents moved to Los Altos instead” (Gale, np). Even at a young age, Job’s business skills were already seeping through; his mind was constantly working, thirsting to fill his never ending quench for technology. The dream began when Job’s saw potential in his friend, Steve Wozniak, who was working for Hewlett Packard at the time. Wozniak was creating ametuer computers outside of work but never with the intentions of selling them.With his vision of affordable personal computers, Steve Jobs changed that. On April 1st, 1976 in a small garage, one the most successful and thriving businesses in the computer industry was formed. The company name, Apple Computers, was given because it came before “Atari” in the phonebook and Jobs was also on one of his fruit diets, with apples being one of his staple foods (Isaacson, 54). Their aim was to create computers designed specifically to be user-friendly desktop machines for the general public, a target that many other rival companies neglected to pursue. Each man contributed significantly to their company’s success based on their own philosophies. They provided excellent insight to leadership paradigms and organizational challenges within the fast moving computer industry. Both men made positive impacts on the computer industry. It is fair to say, that the industry may not look the same today if it wasn’t for these to exceptional leaders.
Steve Jobs was an incredibly successful individual. In his 2005 Stanford commencement speech and Steve Jobs: An extraordinary career, Jobs’ reveals the habits he put into practice to achieve his success. There are two habits Jobs’ utilized, be proactive and begin with the end in mind.
Steve Jobs is an American icon that has created a society filled with technological advances no person could have imagined. In 2005 Jobs’ gave a commencement speech at Stanford University that captured many peoples hearts with his use of emotion and rhetoric. By breaking down his speech into three parts he was able to connect his whole speech into one theme, never giving up until you find something you love. The three stories he decided to share included connecting the dots, love and loss, and death. Through Steve Jobs’ use of appropriate delivery, language and establishing his credibility he was able to give a speech that is now unforgettable to many people.

In his short 15-minute speech, Jobs outlines the ways that his college struggles, company losses, and cancer challenges motivated him and how the graduates can learn from his life. On October 5, 2011 Steve Jobs passed away in his home in Palo Alto California; Jobs had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2003. Steve brought so much different technological advancement that most people use everyday without knowing who created them. Everything that Jobs created, he did because he understood what his customers wanted, and where the market was going. Steve Jobs believed in all of his products and innovations he sold to people, and had faith in the people he worked with was what really shaped Apple. After leaving the company and then returning, Steve Jobs’ influence made Apple one of the top computer companies in the world.

Throughout his high school career, Jobs loved electronics. He was constantly wiring the house with speakers or building frequency counters with his Hewlett-Packard Explorers Club, a group of students who met weekly to learn about what HP was working on.
