The Habits of Steve Jobs' Success
Steve Jobs was an incredibly successful individual. In his 2005 Stanford commencement speech and Steve Jobs: An extraordinary career, Jobs’ reveals the habits he put into practice to achieve his success. There are two habits Jobs’ utilized, be proactive and begin with the end in mind.
Jobs put the first habit into practice when he sat in calligraphy class after he dropped out of college. If it weren’t for that “the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts” Says Jobs. Another example of being proactive is when he did not accept being fired from Apple as the end, and instead started various companies. “I started a company named Next, another company named Pixar” (Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford Commencement speech). Finally, after dropping out of college, “he took a part time job designing video games at Atari in order to finance a trip to India to study Eastern culture and religion” (Steve Jobs: An

extraordinary career). Instead of giving up, Jobs used his situation to be proactive and make the obstacle an opportunity. Jobs put the second habit into practice by beginning Apple with a goal to create “ a computer for the rest of us” (Steve Jobs: An Extraordinary career).
An additional example of habit two is his metaphor of connecting the dots, essentially that everything you do will have a purpose at some point. Jobs explains “ it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later” (Stanford commencement speech). Finally, Jobs asked himself everyday “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today” (Stanford commencement speech). By asking this question, Jobs is beginning with the end in mend.
In conclusion, Jobs used the first two habits, be proactive and begin with the end in mind, and became successful. Likewise, these habits were illustrated in both the 2005 Stanford commencement speech and Steve Jobs: An Extraordinary Career. Using these same habits, anyone has the potential to become
successful.
Whether they are positive or negative, our habits are an integral part of our lives. Because of this, when Professor James VanderMey addressed the 33rd annual Honors Convocation at Mid Michigan Community College, he decided to speak on the topic of habit. In his speech, entitled “Remarks on Habit,” VanderMey (argues against Sartre’s point of view by) discusses the advantages of having good habits, especially the habits represented by the Diploma Qualification Profile, a series of proficiencies that students learn as they are educated at Mid Michigan Community College. First, he shows that good habits lead to creative problem solving. Then, he argues that our habits make us who we are. Finally, he shows how good habits may grow and multiply. Habits, especially DQP habits, are positive and useful, because they allow one to think creatively, become a better person, and find innovative ways of doing.
Steve jobs embarked into a journey that many would not dare follow due to fear and uncertainty. Through his commencement speech
Steve Jobs delivered and extremely informative commencement speech at Stanford in 2005. He presented three very effective points about what he went through in life. Steve Jobs first talks about connecting the dots. He says something like “ you can't connecting dots looking forward you can only connect them looking backwards” with that quote one can understand that you have to trust that something is going to happen in life and hope for the best. Then he goes on and talks about love and lost he lets the graduates know that sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick,Don't lose faith. On this quote he lets the graduates of Stanford know that life is going to be hard not everything in going to come easy in life. We are going to make mistakes but we need to understand that we can Lear from them. Lastly,Steve Jobs believes that
Smith begins his speech by describing how people have the mindset to pursue a great career, but tends to not follow the steps to do so. The credibility of his speech is well established by his subjective tone. Rather than using statistics, he uses his own opinions and real life situations in order to convey a sense of credibility behind his
For both Tim Berners-Lee and Bill gates, they are one of the most successful men in the world, or even in the history of mankind. The reasons beyond their victorious stories of why and how they could gain success are worth thinking about, where I reflected on their life experiences and generated some
The seven habits Covey summaries in the text are Be Productive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win/Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw. He describes how adopting these seven habits teach one to be their true selves, to be authentic, to live with self-respect, and to do things with honor. He emphasizes that it is necessary to identify the interdependence that individuals each required with the specific skills it takes to become highly effective. Steve Jobs played a huge role in revolutionizing technology. He is considered to be a major role model for people and has heavily influenced many lives. I was able to witness some of the techniques he uses to inspire and push people in his speech. I consider the graduates, who were present on that day, lucky to be able to hear a few words of wisdom, inspiration and character from him.
In 2005, Steve Jobs’ gave a commencement speech to the University of Stanford. His speech is a very motivational and inspiring to everyone that has listened to it. He talks about three stories that happened in his life and allowed him to be where he is today. Connecting the dots, love and lost, and death. He puts his life events into perspective and allows you to see how everything came together for him. Never giving up on what you believe in and doing what you love every day.
Steve Jobs (CEO and chairman of Apple Inc.) was an American entrepreneur and inventor. He was born in February 24, 1955 and founded Apple Inc. with his high school buddy Steve Wozniak in 1976. But later in 1976, when Apple was about to bankrupt he returned to it as advisor and Interim CEO. He made Apple profitable from near bankruptcy by 1998 (Walter Isaacson, 2013). From (1996-2011), he proved himself as one of the best engineering leaders of the world and made Apple the most innovative company of the world.
This is one never talked about secret of success. Action is the main word in success. Bill Gates as a small young kid he kept telling his childhood good friend, Paul Allen that he never had anything to lose. When Bill Gates had numerous odds against him such as several cases and the American Law against him, he still constantly carried out action by creating more software which the people wished to have. Microsoft would have not seen the light now of what it acquires if without Bill Gates. This was because of his regular delivery of dreams to his vision and targets. He dropped out from one of the world best universities from Harvard and not every person from there went to attain great heights similar to Bill Gates did, which shows the basic truth that schooling is just a toll for accomplishment and does not define achievement itself.
Even though Steve Jobs died in 2011, I really hope that someday, someone will come to the world and do the same thing he did for the world. Take an idea, do not give up on it, and make it happen. I think that Steve Jobs would have wanted everybody to follow his legacy and promote what he left in the world: hope. If I could, I would really want to be a person like he is, and stick to what I believe in and leave a legacy in this world. I believe that anybody in this world could do it, like he did. Even though Steve Jobs is not here with us anymore, he would have wanted people to know that a single idea is what can revolutionize the world completely, and that without any risks, you cannot change the world, for the good. But, as Steve Jobs said, “Things don’t have to change the world to be important.”
Firstly, Joshua Michael Stern (Director) and Matt Whitely (Screenwriter) for this film were successfully express a kind portrait of a driven and complicated man who dedicated his life in revolutionize that the way people use computers. Besides that, Ashton Kutcher who was acting as Steve Jobs as the main character of the film was really good as he could really show the leadership and having same vision as the character that he was acting. In another hand, by look through the storyline of Jobs the Film (2013), I had also found out there is a weakness that shows in the film. To prove with my personal opinion, the main character’s (Steve Jobs) strength which is leadership could also be look as his weakness as those very qualities of leadership were also the means for his isolation and dropping for his
Steve Jobs had a great mind when it came to unique ideas and creating new things, he had almost every arsenal in his mind needed to deal with anything, except with people. He never understood how to connect with his team members emotionally, in fact he rather treated them like slaves. Jobs would have them working day and night without concern and would reject the whole project if it even deviated 1 percent from his imagination, then would tell them to start over from scratch.
