From the classroom to working around the ranch, I have learned that successful leadership occurs when a vision is executed with personal reflection and effective communication. I hope to combine my leadership and communication skills with my passion for pageantry and become The next Miss Teen Montana USA. Miss Teen Montana is a title that carries significant prestige and above all, holds the power to enact positive change and establish new frontiers. As Miss Teen Montana I would utilize the platform to communicate with people from around the U.S. and other countries to better educate myself on domestic and international affairs. I will also work to be the voice of the greater youth of Montana letting their concerns and ideas be heard. In addition
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
“Do I have to go? I mean, it’s not required for me to finish high school or anything. It’s just something you want me to do,” I pleaded with my parents. “Yes you have to go and there’s no way you’re going to get out of it either. It’ll be a good experience for you, and you might even make some new friends,” my father replied. Tomorrow I was going to HOBY, which stands for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. It is specifically for sophomores in high school and I was chosen to be one of the candidates to represent my school for the year twenty fifteen. There are many HOBYs around the United States, but I was going to HOBY Ohio West located at the Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. The seminar started on June fourth and concluded on the seventh. This was a four day event and I wouldn’t see my family for two of the days. I had just turned sixteen in April and I had never stayed more than an hour away from my family for a night or two. It was very nerve-wracking for me, but I had to go no matter what. Little did I know that this experience would make me into the more confident young woman I am today.

Finding Your Voice: Learning to Lead…Anywhere You Want to Make a Difference, by Larraine R. Matusak is a book, which explains the proper way to incorporate leadership into one’s life. The author approaches the topic of Leadership with a quite passionate point of view. Matusak observes leadership through a very wide lens. In other words, she is a firm believer that there is more than one way to effectively carry out the act of leadership. The author is on a mission to bring out the natural leadership skillset in all people, and too encourage anyone and everyone to find a way to lead in life. The main focus of the book is the fact that one does not require any sort of title or major position of power to live out their passion and to customize leadership opportunities for their individual talents. This very concept was stressed constantly throughout this book, along with the idea of weaving a shared vision. Weaving a shared vision is a very important aspect of leadership because it involves shaping all minds involved in an organization to point them towards a common goal. Let’s take a look at some of the main points that Matusak states in her book.
Individuals’ perceptions of their life/worth have the power to control the goals that they can carry out and meet. Every day we are learning new things and everyone has his/her own unique ways of learning. My strong desire to help students with their academic, personal, and social needs make me a strong candidate as a school counselor. While completing my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Program Administration I learned a great deal about myself. I have a passion for learning and want to share and express that love for learning with students. I feel that the Master of School Counseling program provides a direct path to my career goals of helping students to comprehend subject matter while learning to love learning as I do. Not only will
My passion for leadership began in middle school, when I learned that I felt pride in taking on new challenges in leading organizations and activities. Throughout my middle school years, my leadership involvement began through being president of the National Junior Honor Society, becoming a finalist multiple times in various student congress debate competitions, and ultimately being awarded the
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a
To be a distinguished young woman, one has to be exceptional. Though people like to search for distinction their whole lives, most are afraid of it. They are afraid of the work they will have to do, the challenges they will have to overcome, and the responsibility that will be put upon them. Everyone is special from the moment she is born; however, true leaders are able to take the unique gifts they were given and become extraordinary human beings. For the rest of my life, I will chase the elusive notion that we all hold dear to our hearts: becoming my best self.
Hi Amber, first of all I just want to say congratulations on being awarded Officer of the Month, Officer of the Year and earning a position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation task force. Sounds like your drive to remain proactive eventually paid off. Like you, I tend to be most proactive professionally and more reactive in my personal endeavors. I have been with my current employer for almost seven years and even though I am extremely proactive, unfortunately the opportunity for advancement is very limited. However, I continue to tread on with the hope that someday it will pay off. I too, have set my goal to be more proactive in my personal life especially, where my health and exercise is concerned. For the past seven years I have been
Before parting ways, our camp director gathers the counselors around to tell us, “Be the person who your campers think you are.” I reflected back on what I just endured through in that past week and how my fellow co-counselors and I made this camp come to life. This was my first year in Camp Kesem, a week-long, overnight camp designed specifically for children affected by their parent’s cancer, and our week of fun just ended. As I continued dedicating myself to this organization for the following three years, I abided to our camp director’s motto and had to acquire all characteristics of the honor code in order to become a better leader.
My whole life, I’ve always wanted to be able to say I’ve done something unlike anyone else has ever done. This past summer, my YoungLife leader Jordyn told me about a 6 day backpacking trip YoungLife was taking in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado. 6 months later, I ended up on the thirty hour bus ride to Creede, Colorado surrounded by 50 other high-schoolers. My best friends and I were on our way to Wilderness Ranch, a Young Life camp where everyone gathered before being shipped off into the mountains for 6 days.
Leaders will no matter what have an influence on our world. They have missions, dreams and ambition, and with these things they are bound to go far. For leaders, what makes these dreams come true is having strong qualities such as leadership practices, values and strengths. If developed and learned how to use correctly, these are what take leaders to the next level and accomplish great things. In the following paper I will talk about leadership in our ever-changing world, explore my leadership practices, values and strengths as well as elaborate on the goals I have made to challenge myself as a leader.

My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving.

As rightly said by Hippocrates “The life so short, the craft so long to learn”. I believe that a good mix of talent and dependability are a crucial and potent mix for success. Honing my skills with a Masters’ degree after completing my Bachelors’ Degree In Physiotherapy, I believe would help me develop an array of cross functional skills. Gaining technical expertise in the subject of physiotherapy and then whetting my skills during my internship, taught me to be precise and scrupulous towards every task at hand. Having successfully pursued this field for nearly 5 years, I believe that, if given a chance, these skills endow me with the knowledge to gain an opportunity to pursue higher studies at your prestigious university.
