As rightly said by Hippocrates “The life so short, the craft so long to learn”. I believe that a good mix of talent and dependability are a crucial and potent mix for success. Honing my skills with a Masters’ degree after completing my Bachelors’ Degree In Physiotherapy, I believe would help me develop an array of cross functional skills. Gaining technical expertise in the subject of physiotherapy and then whetting my skills during my internship, taught me to be precise and scrupulous towards every task at hand. Having successfully pursued this field for nearly 5 years, I believe that, if given a chance, these skills endow me with the knowledge to gain an opportunity to pursue higher studies at your prestigious university. I am pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, at Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy, Pune where I managed to maintain an average of 70% throughout my four years helping me attain a place in the top 10 students of the college. My internship monogram (project) was titled “Co-relation between trunk imbalance and functional performance in hemiplegics” with a sample size of 50, and it was considered one of the most “Outstanding Monogram” due to its difficulty and research involved. My inclination towards health sciences started since I was in junior college and I was always fascinated by the working of the human body. This propelled me to join the undergraduate course in physiotherapy and from the first day I have enjoyed it . Physiotherapy helps in the conservative as well as post surgical rehabilitation of the patients creating for it plenty of scope and making it an intriguing field to explore . I have never missed an opportunity to get a “hands-on” experience from my very fi... ... middle of paper ... ...to time also will enable me to mentor the junior faculty or the students. All these will definitely be the stepping stones for my preparation for the PhD which is eventually my long term goal. Since there will be a lot of esoteric facts gaining disclosure in the near future in the field of neurosciences, I would like to exploit them and discover new therapies. In conclusion, I am extremely motivated and determined to pursue my Master’s in Physiotherapy from your institution. Through it, I hope to attain the relevant qualifications for my career advancement and to play my part in contributing to the discipline. As John Green has quoted in his book “The fault in Our stars”, ““Do the thing you're good at. Not many people are lucky enough to be so good at something”. I would be grateful if your esteemed university gives me this chance to excel in my area of interest.

Shadowing Dr. Truong sparked my interest in osteopathic medicine. Then I started to explore this profession by reading books. The more I learned, the more I found it is what I want to do in my future practice. Not only do I want to treat patients and their diseases, but I also want to address underlying causes and fix them. I want to specialize in OMT and use my hand to bring instant relief to suffering patients. I also learned the training in osteopathic medicine places emphasize in primary care, which is my interest because it allows me to develop a long-term relationship with patients, address the full range of their needs, ...
Larissa Spencer is doing a half day internship at Pro Sports Therapy during the spring semester of her senior year. It is a physical therapy facility in Westford. There, Larissa observes many different injuries and how to treat them. She also helps around the facility She plans to go to college for her doctorate in physical therapy in the New England area. She always wanted to be a physical therapist since going to physical therapy herself due to a knee injury and her other family member’s careers as physical therapists have made her realize this is something she is truly passionate about.
From a young age I was interested in the medical field. As I became more exposed to the various options, I decided physical therapy was the right career for me. My experience has proved the field to be interesting and fun. I enjoy working with people and the versatility of therapy. There are many areas to specialize in and I look forward to learning which one is right for me. At the moment I am interested in pediatric acute care but I am also interested in sports and orthopedics. As I continue my studies, I look forward to learning about the different fields in which physical therapy will take me. My future views may change which physical therapy field I wish to pursue, but right now I look forward to learning as much as I can about physical therapy and helping others.
In regards to my academic and career goals, I plan to attend a four year university and eventually medical school. After medical school, I hope to become an orthopedic surgeon through residency and specialize in sports medicine. My interest in sports medicine has developed through experiences such as observing my father’s ACL surgery, having an operation on a broken hand, and caring for my grandfather who had prostate cancer. I hope to contribute to the world of sports medicine through research, either on treatments for knee ligament tears or supplement breakthroughs. Additionally, this past summer I spent most of my time at the University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy, where I was able to explore various science-related health professions through lectures and gain insight on the medical field. These experiences have secured my interest for healthcare and medicine.
The subject came so naturally to me and I decided to continue my enrollment in sports medicine courses throughout my high school education. As my senior year of high school concluded, I explored the idea of a career in physical therapy by job shadowing at the Idaho Sports Medicine Institute (ISMI). After observing the PTs at ISMI, I was immediately drawn to a career in physical medicine. A few months later, I started my education at Idaho State and felt exactly like I did when I started sports medicine in high school. I was absolutely enthralled with my classes, naturally excelled in all of my coursework, and always had PT school in the back of my mind. I knew I would have to work extremely hard to develop a strong undergraduate transcript and build a competitive application. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have worked relentlessly to maintain academic excellence and currently have a 3.91 GPA. I have also succeeded in making the College of Education’s Dean’s List for five semesters. Unfortunately, I did not receive the honor of making the Dean’s List on one occasion, as I was .02 points below the minimum
Many years of perseverance and hard work enabled me to get into one of the most prestigious medical schools, Dow Medical College in Pakistan. During my time
I will still pursue physical therapy even after learning about all of these requirements. When I signed up for this major, I already knew the qualifications and dedication it will take to obtain this profession. There was really nothing I didn’t know before choosing this major because I really got to know the profession before I went to college. In my last few years of high school, I had to take many hours of physical therapy because of an undiagnosed leg injury, which led me to really get to know my physical therapists that worked with me and the profession itself. I am already working towards what is needed to get into graduate school by volunteering when I can and working really hard in my classes. Writing this paper has reinsured me on how I have to stay focus and really keep my eye on my dream.
My passion for healthcare started early on, and I was quickly drawn to physical therapy. These last 18 months enrolled in the University of Utah’s physical therapy program have confirmed my education and career choices thus far, and validated my desire to become a physical therapist. The educational experience here is more than I could have imagined, and I find myself captivated in each class. In particular, our neuroanatomy surprisingly captivated my interest. The
Aside from my academic studies, I enjoy a variety of activities such as baking, learning languages and playing netball. Although studying occupational therapy may prove to be exigent and demanding at times, my enthusiasm drives my determination to pursue a career in this field. I look forward to the challenges of higher learning and the prospect of fulfilling my ambitions.
I have just finished 19 years of education, but I feel my thirst for learning has escalated even further. After emigrating from Pakistan, in 2007 a real milestone happened in my life because I was one of 100 students (out of thousands of applicants) who were accepted into the Kabul Medical University. While enrolled in the university, my grade point average was more than 80 percent. At the university, besides enduring a heavy load of study in medicine, another challen...
Dance is my passion and has been since I began training at the age of six. My lifelong goal has always been to fuse my knowledge of the world of dance with the world of medicine. The demands of ballet that come with training and performing at a pre-professional level are quite taxing on the body, and I have suffered several debilitating injuries throughout my dance career. These experiences have sparked my passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine. I am currently intending to double major in Dance and Psychology with a minor in Diversity on a pre-medicine track so that I may be able to one day fulfill my dream, and assist dancers with their injuries and pain management. In the winter quarter of 2017, I took an honors Natural World course
Evidence is a clear indication. The definition of evidence-based medicine is “the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients.” (Sackett et al. 1996) It allows us to demonstrate and gives approval to the truth. It exists to inform and guide practice. The practice of evidence-based medicine suggests incorporating different clinical knowledge with the best external clinical evidence from systematic research. Physiotherapists and undergraduate should strive to use research evidence in a systematic way, in conjunction with clinical judgement to make clinical decisions.
Although, I have trained in dance since the age of six, physical therapy has been an intriguing career option to me since my freshman year of high school because of the courses I was taking. In high school, my passion for physical therapy was ignited when I took my first health class that focused on healthy habits, dealing with keeping the body healthy to prevent injury. I started taking numerous health related honors course that included: health honors, anatomy, and biology honors. In addition, I took the initiative to go above a beyond my educational credit requirements and taking online classes, such as, medical terminology, music appreciation, and government and economics. My dance experience, including my current work consist of technique training, performing, and assisting in all genres of dance at Palmetto Dance Academy and Fine Arts Center. Joining the Health Occupational Students of America club gave me the opportunity to attend several different conventions where I served as patient for an ER team in Charleston, SC. This experience was very beneficial for me, because it allowed me to see how careful you have to be when dealing with a patient and how important it is to get each step to a healing process correct. Having an interest in movement therapy allows me to continue my studies in health
...in me to converge on the path to share my knowledge to one and all. I plan to undertake graduate studies eventually leading to a doctorate, and share my knowledge through a career in academia. This plan of action gives me a chance to inspire forthcoming generations to explore, discover, innovate and continuously enrich their lives.
