The ballad sung by Billie Holiday, “Willow Weep for Me”, is done in a 32-bar song form. The ballad follows the AABA form by having two choruses, followed by a bridge, and ending off with a final chorus. There is an introduction from 00:00 - 00:17 and the first chorus starts as soon as Billie Holiday makes the first sound. Her vocals are the start of every chorus and her saying the title of the ballad is the end of every chorus. The first chorus starts at 00:17 and goes till 00:51, when she has said “weep for me”. The second chorus starts, with different verses but the same tune. This lasts from 00:51 - 01:24. At 01:25, the bridge begins. This change is noticeable due to the change in the vocals as well as the change in the piano. Both the vocals
When reading a book, is really hard to get the attention of the reader. Who is interested with hearing once upon a time? For me, I would eater the novel start off with something relatable then ease me into the plot. Life doesn’t always start off as a fairytale so I prefer that my novels don’t either. So while reading this novel, I was evaluating not only the author but the content and if it would live up to the hype.
The thought of the day that I found interesting was “worry is a futile thing, it’s somewhat like a rocking chair. Although it keeps you occupied, it doesn’t get you anywhere” -Anonymous. This quote means that there is no point in worrying because you can’t succeed and move forward, if you worry all the time. This quote relates to the song “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts because the lyrics “I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow, and each road leads you to where you want to go.” show that stress and worrying is bad and you should try to find ways to avoid it. An event from my life that the quote and lyrics show a connection is when I had a technology project in the 6th grade where we had to build wind powered cars. When the teacher
“Hurt” a song originally recorded by Nine Inch Nails which portrays self-harm and heroin addiction has been covered by many great artists including Johnny cash. When Johnny cash covered this song I got a deferent message from the lyrics while he sings it, maybe it is because of his voice or how he lived his life, but when he is singing this song I get a sense that he is singing about a loved one that has passed on, growing older, and his legacy.
This first song goes well with Holden because we see throughout the whole book, how Holden experiences loneliness. Holden says, “The first thing I did when I got off at Penn Station, I went into this phone booth. I felt like giving somebody a buzz” (Salinger 59) This is just one example of Holden’s loneliness. At this time he is just getting of the train realizing he has nobody to go to and nobody to talk to so he feeling like calling someone even if it’s just to talk to. n the song Talking To Myself, The lyrics say “Is anybody out there?/It feels like I'm talkin' to myself/No one seems to know my struggle/And everything I come from/Can anybody hear me?”(Eminem) This song by Eminem is a good example of Holden’s loneliness because throughout the song it

Billie Holiday’s “Blue Moon” was featured in her 1952 album Billie Holiday Sings produced by Norman Granz. This Jazz standard was originally written in 1935 by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart who were contracted by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to write songs for Hollywood Movies. Perhaps the most epic and original Jazz singer in history, Billie’s voice had a quality like no other. With strength she had remarkable melodic sensitivity and phrasing, allowing her to master the art of evoking emotion. With her “Broken Voice” due to her life experiences and a powerful elegance this vocal jazz love song along with her entire jazz ensemble, was some of the best of her last.
The intro begins very smoothly, conveys the emotion with anyone saying anything yet. Soon after the vocals come in, and the instrumentation fades out slightly, making room for the words. Slowly through the verse the vocals raise both in volume and pitch, which creates a dynamic that slurs into the next section. A bluegrass groove comes in as a
All music created has some kind of story behind it. It could be a bad story, good story, or even a complicated story. Every artist tells a story in their music that can relate to anyones life. Fortunate son is a song by a band name Creedence Clearwater Revival. The song talks about the difference between kids that belongs to rich families and kids that belongs to poor families. In the verse writer says, “Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand”. Kids that were born in a wealthy family stay rich. They can do whatever they want just because they are rich. In the song, the singer also talks about how the kids that belong to rich families do not have to join the military. They can go to college and get a degree on a full time study. However, kids that belong to poor families are forced to join the army and fight for the country. Rich kids are privileged but poor kids are not.
Johnny Cash can be considered one of the best country artists of all times, but the soul of his music is rooted in the blues. Many of Cash’s songs are about the complications that come with love. The four songs listed above are only a few parts of the story Cash teaches us about the world of love. Most importantly, Cash does a wonderful job of explaining the complicated nature of love and how it really is the most powerful force in the world. Before diving into each of these songs, one must first understand how Cash is a blues artist just as much as he is a country artist.
The song “Strangers in the Night” was composed by Bert Kaempfert and lyrics by Charles
It consists of four stanzas, each a bit longer than the preceding one. Each stanza has it's own
Responses to Amazing Grace Amazing Grace is a legendary song” published in 1779”(www.princeton.edu/-achaney/tmve/wiki100/docs/Amazing-Grace.html) that is also a poem where there are verses in this poem that suggest that the composer John Newton (1725-1807) was going through a pivotal point in his life and he felt that by writing these harmonic verses in rhythmic metaphors could captivate and inspire not only those that read “Amazing Grace” but especially everyone that listened to its meaning. Conviction can come at a time when it seems you are most likely going to die from an act of God, and all the wrong that someone has done becomes a consciously enormous burden when they start to consider what the after life may have as punishment or reward. There are many different responses to this poem. Most of the responses are positive, but when you look at the author John Newton’s life you will start begin to understand the gist of what he is saying and the meaning behind them.
To begin, the episodic shifts in scenes in this ballad enhance the speaker’s emotional confusion. Almost every stanza has its own time and place in the speaker’s memory, which sparks different emotions with each. For example, the first stanza is her memory of herself at her house and it has a mocking, carefree mood. She says, “I cut my lungs with laughter,” meaning that...
