Snapchat and Instagram are my top two favorite social media apps. Although they are both similar to each other they are also very different from each other. Some of the most interesting things about them are: the people who created them, the variety of features that both have, and their statistics. Snapchat was created by Evan Spiegel and Bobbie Murphy. It was then launched in September 2011. Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. And it was launched in October 2010. Snapchat allows you to take pictures or videos, add text to them and send them to a friend or you can post it to your story where everyone who follows you can see it. Once a snap is sent to a person it will disappear within 1-10 seconds after they open it. But …show more content…
Snapchat also has many different types of entertaining filters which get added to and taken away daily. So you never know what might be there day after day. The filters put different images on or around your face and can also change your voice. Even though Snapchat is more popular these days, Instagram is still used by millions of people. Instagram allows users to post pictures or videos with descriptions online to the users following them. Unlike Snapchat, the pictures or videos that you post to Instagram don't ever disappear or go away unless you delete them. Although Instagram doesn't have all of those awesome snapchat filters they have a variety of their own unique filters and features. Instagram allows you to use their filters for your pictures as well as adjust the saturation and brightness of your photo. Instagram also has a higher quality of photos unlike snapchat. Snapchat has a daily average of 100-200 million active users daily and 400 million snaps are sent each day. The majority of snapchat’s users are women, around 70%. The average age of snapchat’s core users are from the age of 13 to 24 and 77% of all college students use snapchat. There is also eight
With over 100 million users, 400 million snapchats sent daily, and 8,796 snapchats sent per second, Snapchat has been made into a multibillion dollar franchise. Snapchat was not meant to be turned into what it has become today. Snapchat, initially called Picaboo, was launched in Evan Spiegel’s dorm room. Spiegel started Picaboo as a school project at Stanford with his peers Robert Murphy and Reggie Brown. It was created to have the ability to send an image and have that same image permanently deleted. When Picaboo was first released it was not able to attract any users. However, today Snapchat is one of the most downloaded applications in the world.
When parents like you hear snapchat you be like is that the site people send nudes on and they disappear.Or that kid need face to face interaction. But you can get nudes sent to you on any platform. But they last forever.even if someone does send nudes they will only be their for 10 sec or less you can put a timer them POOF it's gone. Then you would say they are never gone but they
The appreciation that they receive form others has made them more confident. In the article “Why Your Kids Love Snapchat, and Why You Should Let Them” by Rachel Simmons, it states that there is very little audience participation. In particular, there is no “like” or “heart’’ button which means that there is no way for others judge and measure our value. There was also a study that was conducted about how Snapchat may have a correlation with self-esteem. This experiment was conducted by a biological social linguistic psychologist Fem I. Nine at the University of Pennsylvania. Nine found that there were strong connections between the application Snapchat and teens self-esteem. They had over three hundred participants from middle schools, high schools, and colleges. One particular participate went into a deeper response and said, “I really feel like each one is a piece of art…that lasts for 6 seconds.” This statement implies that teens feel good about themselves when they post on Snapchat because they have taken the time to perfect the picture that they are going to
For example, they may not be comfortable with their parents or grandparents seeing photos of them out partying, but on Snapchat, a ten second video of them at a club, wont do them any harm. Snapchat allows users to post things that may not be socially acceptable on other social media websites.
Instagram allows people all over the world to get a glimpse of how everyone else makes a living. It not only enables people to post pictures of whatever they want, but it also enables others around the world to like and comment their own thoughts. Your profile on Instagram is supposed to be about yourself. What is the point of having a profile if you can not post a lot about yourself? Instagram is hands down one of the most popular applications in today's world and has given many people across the world a chance to create a lifetime of memories through the click of a
If Snapchat filters how to use? were a question in business school, there is no opportune time than now because this app is changing the way people interact and even do business. You don’t need to know a nerdy teenager to get an answer for Snapchat filters how to use? Firstly, because Snapchat is not a nerdy affair.Secondly, because Snapchat is gaining popularity even amongst the older generation and thirdly, because it is not as difficult as punch card computing or walking a cat.
Like Facebook, Instagram offers an environment where people can upload pictures and videos and other people can comment and like what is posted. Pictures that are uploaded on Instagram can be shared on Facebook. This expands the communication environment of Facebook. Facebook has become very big with video and picture sharing. Users can comment on various videos and pictures uploaded by their peers. Users also have the option to like videos and pictures. Other people can see these interactions being done, which leads to other people seeing the pictures and videos. Many advertisements are also used on Facebook. Since Facebook receives a lot of traffic from people, videos that advertise products can be uploaded to Facebook, so they can get more attention. People are able to attach recent news articles onto their profile that can be shared with their friends and family members. All of these are useful techniques and lead to a larger communication discourse
To start off, Snapchat is a great application to quickly and easily communicate between friends. With all the features within, from drawing and adding stickers on your pictures and videos to funny
The invention of Snap Chat was literally an accident; two measly college students got bored and that’s why they invented Snap Chat. This app has revolutionized photo taking to a whole new level. In this paper I will talk about, who invented Snap Chat, how Snap Chat became popular, why teens use it and how Snap Chat influenced our culture.
Instagram was founded in 2010 by Kevin Systrom. Kevin was born on December 30, 1983 in Holliston Massachusetts. As a child, he was introduced to a game called Doom 2, which spark an interest in computer programming. Systrom attended Stanford University and in 2006, received a bachelor’s degree in management science and engineering. After graduating, he joined Google as an associate product marketing manager. Kevin spent two years at Google before leaving to join Nextstop. During his time at Nextstop, he developed a prototype called Burbn and pitched it to Baseline Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. They loved the idea, and as a result; he received $500,000 to build Burbn. During the development of the
While Economist had predicted that Snapchat would become a technology giant such as Facebook did. To date roughly 180 million people use the Snapchat app on an average of 18 times per day, with over 60 percent sending multiple snaps every day. But to no surprise the participants are aged 18-25 years old. Social apps in many ways could be a weird business, because it has no apparent value.
An article published in the Los Angeles Times written by Paresh Dave entitled Alibaba investment puts Snapchat valuation in Stratosphere explains Snapchat, a popular social media app, in that, “It started as a classroom project at Stanford University. The idea: An app for sending photos that would disappear seconds later”. Personally I use snapchat on a daily basis to send and receive silly pictures. I frequently send my friends “selfies”, a popular phenomenon in which the Oxford Dictionary describes as, “a photograph that one takes of oneself with a digital camera or a front-facing smartphone, tablet, or webcam, especially for posting on a social-networking or photo-sharing website”.
There are many popular social media apps which help us to connect with friends and family. Apps which aid us in sharing interesting articles, our special moments of life or everyday activities. Such social media apps as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. give us a fantastic opportunity to discuss issues, to interact with people from another country and to make lots of friends. Snapchat, is one such app that entertains us and gives us a chance to have fun with friends and relatives.
Snapchat Snapchat is a social media app that allows users to send pictures that disappear after a time limit set by sender (from one to ten seconds). Once the timer runs out the image is supposed to be deleted forever. This app has become incredibly popular in the past couple of years, especially among teenagers. It’s unique feature is what attracted users the most.
