Around 64,500 kids and teens get injured from skateboarding related accidents and need to be brought to the emergency room each year. Around 61,000 from inline skating. Thats around 125,500 injuries a year just from two skating sports alone. Kids, teenagers, and even adults don't understand the importance of using safety equipment while participating in skating sports such as these.
Skateboarding is a sport where skill acquired over time. People will practice for hours on end trying to land tricks or learn a new skill. This is when most mistakes happen. That's why safety equipment is very important. There are a few safety essentials all beginners and even experts should have before they have their first wipeout. Such as a helmet. There are certain ones made just for skateboarding, and before anyone buys one they should make sure the helmet fits without being so loose it moves, or too tight it hurts their head. Also the straps at the end of the helmet should fit around the head and buckle. Again make sure the straps are loose enough that the helmet falls off or too tight that the straps are uncomfortable.
