Coronus was told a prophecy that one day when he had kids they would overrule him . So when Rhea gave birth to their kids Cronus swallowed them and when he tried so swallowed Zeus Rhea gave him a rock instead of a baby to salvage Zeus. Then Zeus gave Cronus a mixture of wine and mustard and made him vomit is now older kids and zeus battled him and he won .Then he over ruled Cronus and kicked him out of his own kingdom. In Cronus and the lightning thief they both share the theme of a struggle for power.
The theme in Cronus is a struggle for power . “ Cronus was so enraged that war between the father and son became inevitable. Zeus eventually dethroned his father Cronus, who was banished from his kingdom and deprived forever of the supreme power. Cronus’ son now became supreme god.

“.
I chose this because it shows how Cronus was now kicked out of what used to be his because he was selfish.”He married his sister Rhea, and together they had three sons and three daughters .Cronus was afraid that his children might one day rise up against his authority, as he had against his own father, Uranus”. I chose this because it proves how Cronus was afraid to let his kids grow up. To me Cronus is very selfish and just wants everything for hiself .
The struggle for power relates to the lightning thief because in chapter 20 Percy battles Ares . Percy Jackson stated, “My body thought for me . The water seemed to push me into the air and i capluted over him, slashing as i came down “.I chose this quote because it was the moment that Percy uses his power . “ All that meant was my mom really had been squeezed into nothingness, dissovled into yellow light”.” I was alone. An orphan . I would have to live with … Smelly Gabe?”.
I chose this quote because it higlights when Percy loses his mother and doesn’t know what to do and how to handle what he’s going through. Percy is vulnerable when it comes to his mother and doesnt know how to handle the facts she is
gone. Percy is VERY vulnerable when it comes to his family members and doesn’t know how to handle certain situtations. But he does know fight with water and you find that out in chapter 3 of the book. Myths still matter because for the people that believe in myths may relate to them and it may help them solve their problem(s) . They also matter because people who believe in god(s) may think it’s true and it may help them find out more about what they believe in. I think Rick Riordian chose to put these 2 books together because they have the same timeline order and they relate to each other.
Percy is always afraid that his friends might die. He is constantly questioning his “own powers” (29, Riordan) and is unsure he can save his friends. The protagonist is unable to complete his missions properly, because he is always battling his own self confidence. Anyone who is incapable of having confidence in themselves will not obtain their goal. Moreover, when Percy realizes he is able to “destroy” (79, Riordan)
In “The Myth of Cronus”, after Cronos overthrew his dad he was given a prophecy that his children would overthrow him. To try and dodge his fate, he swallowed his children, but despite his best efforts, he was overthrown by his son Zeus. In both The Lightning Thief and “The Myth of Cronus”, fates are given that can not be avoided. In The Lightning Thief, Percy is given a prophecy that he will be betrayed. In “The Myth of Cronus”, Cronus is given a prophecy that says he will be dethroned. Both prophecies finalize as inevitable. Both the novel Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, and “The Myth of Cronus” communicate the idea that despite the greatest efforts, fates and prophecies can not be avoided.
Within this novel, the main character, Percy Jackson, is depicted to fit the universal archetype of a hero on a quest. Furthermore, Poseidon, Percy's father, shows the archetype of Magi with the guidance he provides Percy without him ever meeting him. On his quest to retrieve Zeus’ lightning bolt, the character of Luke also serves as a Hermes archetype and one of joker. He shows up right when the hero is about to make a breakthrough. Clearly, the characters demonstrate an archetypal prevalence that serves to develop the novel in the mythological type. With relation to modern life, Percy Jackson serves as an archetypal character that symbolizes goodness. He is a typical quiet young teenager with the additional issues of dyslexia and ADHD. He is an only child who lives in New York with his mother and step father. As the plot unravels, we learn that Percy, in his goodness, would do anything to protect his mother from
This is the true start to Percy’s quest. He made a few friends in the camp and they agreed to go on this journey with him. Those accompanying him were his protector Grover and Athena’s daughter Annabeth. They also get some helpful tools fro...
“If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself.”, Percy´s words describe perfectly his actions in the movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The movie was released in 2010 after the novel series by Rick Rioardian. The movie tells the story of a 16-year-old half-god, who's name is Percy Jackson, trying to save the world with his two friends Grover and Annabeth. They must stop the start of a war between the two most powerful gods, Zeus and Poseidon. Percy, the Hero, is attacked by many different creatures, like Medusa and a Dragon. The story shows a growing friendship between Grover, Annabeth, and Percy, as they fight to retain world peace.
In the beginning, it all started with the gods and goddesses Cronus (God of the Sky) and Rhea (Goddess of the Earth). They met and got married. While they were married they produced six offspring. These offspring would turn out to be some of the most famous in mythology. The offspring consisted of Hestia, Hades, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, and of course, the famous Zeus. Poseidon was the oldest son to be born from these two. Unfortunately when the offspring were born Cronus devoured most, even though Rhea tried many times to keep that from happening. Finally when Zeus was born she tricked Cronus into thinking it was his own son, when handed to him, and he eat him like all the others. But after doing so, Rhea told Cronus that she had given him a stone wrapped up in a blanket. Zeus later overthrew his father and released all of his other kin. After overthrowing Cronus, Zeus took over the ruler of the kingdom. With him taking the thrown on Mt. Olympus, he chose Hades to rule the underworld and Poseidon to look after the sea and land. Poseidon was a very powerful god and ruled with fury. He was made the god of waters in general and of the sea in particular (1). He is an equal in dignity to Zeus but not in power. This is important because it does not allow Poseidon to question his br...
Percy is immensely brave. He is not afraid to do anything if it meant he could save another's life, like he
The novel The Lightning Thief, written by Rick Riordan, tells the story of a 12 year-old boy named Percy Jackson, who struggles with school, bullies, and supernatural powers. The story takes place in modern-day New York and is narrated by Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson lives in an apartment in Manhattan, New York with his mother, Sally Jackson, and his stepfather, (Smelly) Gabe. Percy goes to Yancy Academy, a boarding school, where he shares a dorm with his strange friend, Grover Underwood and puts up with Nancy Bobofit, the bully. Throughout the story, Percy deals with repeating conflict including his struggles with school, bullies, nature, and supernatural powers at work around him, making this story a tense and exciting adventure.
After the birth of her sixth and last child, Rhea tricked Cronos into swallowing a rock and then hid the child -- Zeus -- on earth. Zeus grew up on earth and was brought back to Mount Olympus as a cupbearer to his unsuspecting father. Rhea and Zeus connived against Cronos by mixing a noxious drink for him. Thinking it was wine, Cronos drank the mixture and promptly regulated his five other children, fully grown.
Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one of the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the character by Riordan, to show he is meant to be a hero, and not to do well in school. This shows that school is not what he is good at, and he is destined to be a hero and save people. The character Grover, who plays Percy’s best friend, parallels a Satyr who is human from the waist up and goat from the waist down and is a companion of wine God, Dionysus, who we later learn, is the camp director for Half-Blood Camp.
Cronus and Rhea are the parents of Poseidon in Greek mythology. Poseidon is one of the 3 sons; the others are Hades and Zeus. And there three sisters were Demeter, Hestia, Hera, and while Cronus was the horrible father who feared his own children so he ate them at birth. He continued to eat the newborns until his wife tricked him by giving him stones instead to save Zeus. But sadly Poseidon (and Hades) was eaten by Cronus to save them Zeus (who was being raised by nymphs) became Cronus’ cupbearer. He poisoned Cronus and he threw up Poseidon. They started a war against Cronus it lasted for ten years until the brothers released the Cyclopes and in return they gave the each a weapon. Poseidon received a trident, Zeus a lightning bolt, and Hades the helmet of darkness.
Both of the stories tell how percy was on a hunt to kill medusa but percy jackson and the lightning thief makes the story more by making it about a hunt to get his mother back and to do that he must kill medusa and get through three other challenges but then his friend cant get back out of the
In The Lightning Thief and Twilight, different experiences occur within both main characters Bella Swan and Percy Jackson. Both selections follow the path of the archetypal pattern of a mentor’s guidance. The mentor’s guidance plays a major role in both selections in outlining important aspects of the mythologies and parallel world. While Percy and Bella are not familiar to anything other than human kind, they both find a way to become aware of their future surroundings.
Cronus was a Titan. Titans were seen as Elder Gods and were “supreme in the universe”(Hamilton 21).They were tall and outrageously strong and muscular. Cronus was the most important Titan, “he ruled over the other Titans”(Hamilton 21). Cronus held that throne of being the ruler of the Titans, until his son, Zeus, dethroned him of that power and took over his father’s place of being the ruler of the Titans. Cronus was also married to his sister Rhea, which he had children with.
On Percy's adventure to find the bolt, Ares gives him a way to get into the Tartarus. Ares also gives Percy a bag that has Zeus weapon. Although percy didn't know it at the time, the bolt was inside the bag he was given. Now, once Percy uses the pearls given to him from ares to get inside Tartarus, Percy pushes through monsters and hell to get to Hades. Once Percy has a little chat with Hades, he discovers that that Hades had no involvement in the stealing of the bolt, Percy realizes that the the bolt was in the bag Ares had given him and that he is being framed for the for the heist. Knowing this, Percy knows he has to get to Olympus to return the bolt to Zeus and to explain what happened. Now jump ahead a few chapters, it's revealed that Luke had been the one who had taken the Bolt. Also,Kronos powers allowed him to manipulate Ares into framing Percy. If Percy somehow managed to escape from from Hades and Tartarus, Ares was tasked to kill Percy in order to prevent the truth from being told to Zeus. Now, in the movie, Luke was made the main villain and the writers completely blew Kronos out the water by not
