Brown vs Board of Education Have you ever wanted to do something and been told you are the wrong gender? Like a boy wanting to dance or do gymnastics, or a girl wanting to play football or wrestle. If so, I bet you will agree with me that girls should be able to play on mens sports teams. If not, I hope this article helps persuades you to believe. “We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back.” ("Why the World Loves Malala Yousafzai") People of different races, genders,and religions have fought for a long time for equality. Why are women still fighting for equality in sports? Many women no longer follow the stereotypical role of staying home with the kids, or doing housework. Even those that do stay home need to be healthy in order to fulfill their maternal duties. Why not allow women into a boys sport to keep them active? “ Women make up about half of the visitors to gyms and fitness centers.” (Lake) Sports are a fun way to keep in shape. If you look at the level of commitment girls give to fitness, it shows no differences. ()So why should sports team membership be controlled by gender if the level of commitment is the same?
The opposing view believes that women should not be allowed to play on mens sports teams because women are the weaker of the two genders (Express-Times). Without looking any further, people assume that women can not play men’s sports because they can not be held to the same standard just because they are weaker. These same people chose not to look at the positive impact that females can have on teams, such as their agility, ability to work as a team and leadership
