Getting to know my group members I enjoyed getting to learn so many things about some of my classmates. We may all be enrolled in the same course, but all share different hobbies, goals, and accomplishments. Varying from watching movies, receiving a certain certification, or going to sports events. My group consists of three people, Shian Harvey, Ben Stevens, and last but not least Jordan Stevens. The first person I am going to discuss is Shian Harvey.Shian has many hobbies, goals, and accomplishments. Spending a quite night relaxing at home while binge watching Netflix happens to be one of her favorite pass times. Currently her favorite season to watch is, “Orange is the new black.” Shian also loves to enjoy a great book. “Forgetting reality and falling in love with a great story has always been my favorite hobby.” she states. Beyond hobbies Shian has also had a great deal of accomplishments. One of her highest accomplishments being that she finished High school and received her diploma from Center Point High school. After receiving that Shian decided to get certified as a CAN. Classes and multiple tests later she got her CNA license. Shians goals are to be a great mom to her daughter. Also to graduate from National Park a Registered nurse. …show more content…
He is a huge sports fan. Ben spends most of his free time playing basketball. Playing three on three with his friends is his favorite game. When he is not playing ball in real life however, he enjoys playing NBA on x-box. Goals Ben has includes graduating with his bachelor degree in business, beating his own personal best score in basketball, and to make good grades this semester. Beyond Bens goals and hobbies, he also has many accomplishments. He received his high school diploma from Lake Hamilton in 2015. Ben also graduated as a completer in business after finishing every business class his High school
In my junior year of high school, I joined the leadership program called ASB, also known as associated student body. I had the honor and role of being the school’s unofficial videographer to promote events with videos and short films posted on our social media sites because of my passion for video editing and artistic abilities. I also became responsible as being chairman for one of our committees to organize special recognition events for our senior athletes. ASB made my work stressful and challenging, but it was a good way to connect with others.
For my Cultural Plunge, I participated with Project Excell (Extending College Education for Lifelong Learning). This is a group that meets on campus, in the union, every Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM. Each participant has a developmental disability and they come from various places around Manhattan. Project Excell offers around 4 different classes for the participants to choose from, which range from dancing/theatre to the history of Nigeria. After completing a “session,” the participants go through a graduation ceremony and then begin a different type of class for the next few weeks. I joined this group as a student ambassador, who assists the classroom teachers while building relationships with and tending to the needs of the participants.
On this Fall I was taking Theater class with a great professor. His name is Kendrick Jones and he is from Detroit. The professor was so kind with the student and helpful because he wanted us to learn about Theater. He wanted us to learn at least 1 thing about Theater from his class. Also, he let the class to be fun by doing some activities because he doesn’t want the students to get bored in his class. By doing some activates and meet with our groups during the class will help the students to communicate with each other. Also, that will help them to improve their skills and to share the ideas and come up with something new for the audience. It’s gives the class a different taste when the instructor let the students meet with their groups and let them work together. For me I always want to come to theater class not just because the attendance points, but I wanted to learn some things that I don’t know. Thank god I learned some things by attending this class everyday, and I took 200 out of 200 on the attendance grade.
One of Drake’s favorite hobbies is hunting. He enjoys hunting just about anything you can hunt. His favorite animals to hunt are ducks and deer. One of his hobbies that he has a passion for since he was a little boy is fishing. He has been fishing since he was a little boy. He favorite kind of fish to fish is bass. Throughout his life, he has been able to accomplish many things. He was 14th in the world in 11th grade for fishing. He caught a fourteen-pound bass and on average they only weighed around five to six pounds. Another thing he was able to accomplish about a year ago was graduating high school. He was able to pass every class he took with an average of C’s. One goal that he hopes to see in his life in the next two or three years is to graduate college with a business degree. He wants to take his degree and take over his father’s business Lone Wolf auto body. His family owns an auto body and paint business located in Pearcy, Arkansas. It has always been a dream of his and his father for him to take over the family business when he was old enough. Another goal he wants to achieve is to become a pro fisherman. When he is not running his family business, he wants to be able to fish in competitions for
To conclude I’d like to say that something I’ll remember from this class years from now would be the great class experience. Everyone was very accepting and non-judgmental during the course of our class. Even when having to present in front of the class (one of my least favorite things to do) I didn’t feel that nervous, which is rare. I’ll forever be changed by the knowledge I’ve gain from this class because before I would have never imagined so many therapeutic accomplishments could become of group work. I plan to use this course quite a bit in my future career and hopefully help many people by the means of group work.
For six years, I was stuck with the same thirty people for every class. Occasionally, a new kid would come but there was always a solid group of
Everyone is from different places so the diversity of the group is wide ranged. The trip allowed us to learn more about them and where they are from. At the end of the trip, we gave out our social media information and our cell phone numbers. We currently have a group chat going on and it allows us all to stay in touch. Someone will text that they are going to get something to eat, and then someone else is responds saying they will join. We laugh and make jokes with each other and we inform one another when something is going on so that everyone is aware of it. If I see someone from the trip, we always greet each other and ask how the other is doing. I see someone from the trip at least once a day by walking around campus. Everyone got along well on the trip, with no fights and no drama. I'm glad to say that it is currently still like that. The people I met on this trip are some of my good friends here at the University, and I’m happy that I was able to meet
The community component of the self-care was fantastic and effective. The classmates turned out in doing something every week to promote a positive atmosphere by showing a positive attitude to another member, sharing foods, drinks, music, simple self-care that can be used daily and so on. Also, people remind each other of assignment due dates, events coming up and thanks to Susan for the splendid work she did on compiling all assignments due dates and shared it with us, saving the time of looking for what is due all over the D2L and be able to plan. It was helpful for me this semester.
Our first session together was all about the different learning styles and we went over the intake form together. This was the start of us building a bond and working together really as a group. I facilitated my first group two weeks later in session three. We were really working together and trusting the process and I wanted to keep that going. I wanted to pick a topic that would help us all open up even more and keep the discussion going. That is why I chose the topic on goals and had a discussion where the group would be invited to talk about all the different types of goals they have in different aspects of their lives and why goals are important to have. I feel I have accomplished that goal.
I wondered how I would meet classmates with different ways of thinking, many of them with different ages, customs, nationalities and ways of life. This really was one of my greatest expectations. Nowadays, I have met so many different and wonderful people, willing to support each other in everything, starting over with a primary and a common goal for all, fighting to get the final result, becoming nurses. More than that, we have become good friends that support each other most of the time. In our open spaces we share the experiences that we live in each class, we analyze our weaknesses and we always look for the right solution. Likewise, we talked about family and work issues, and in our spare time, we organize activities to hang out together and rejoice in
Talking to old professors whom I hadn’t really established a relationship with in the past was sort of uncomforting, but I was definitely subconsciously intrigued and ready for the challenge of the assignment. The opportunity to come back as a ‘person’ to share thoughts and values was sort of eye opening. Reminded me of the time when I first learned teachers had lives outside of school (this definitely happened before third
...nd was wonderful to shop with. Michael was a perfect gentleman. Marnie was always encouraging and understanding. Nisha and Rebecca Kozitza were amusing . . . and so on. If it had not been for everyone's wonderful personalities we would not have been able to endure such cramped living spaces. The final farewell was testament to the closeness of our newly found friendships. I look forward to another alumni event. Until then, I will treasure the friends I've made.
First of all, there are roughly only 800 students in my entire school, from kindergarten up to upperclassmen and women, and my graduating class of a mere 67 was the biggest in my school's history. So you were forever running into everyone you knew, and who you had known for your whole life. At times this was comforting, at others, slightly claustrophobic. After a while it was easy to feel that you knew practically everyone's middle name or favorite movie, and it was impossible to...
Thirteen years ago, we met for the first time. Along the way, some additions and some subtractions were made throughout; leaving us with the group you see before you. Throughout our high school journey, as a very dysfunctional family, many good and some not so good memories were made that shaped us into the people we are today. Most classes grow up together, uniting as a group; or a family. It would be a lie to say this also happened with our class, as we are all so different. Our class holds so much diversity, it makes sense why we don’t seem to mesh together smoothly. But that is what makes us unique. Like the pieces of a puzzle. Each piece in a puzzle is different. Not every piece fits together, but they all have their own place in the big picture. That is what symbolizes our class. A puzzle. We are all so unique, and diverse, but all together we all come to form the big picture.
I was really impressed on how well organized Alexia Hall was with the class she seem to know where she wanted to the class to be at the end of the semester. We were past out with the class policies and a syllabus of what we were going to do the whole semester. I thought this was very convenient so that there was no mixed signals in the group.
