My Theater Class Experience
On this Fall I was taking Theater class with a great professor. His name is Kendrick Jones and he is from Detroit. The professor was so kind with the student and helpful because he wanted us to learn about Theater. He wanted us to learn at least 1 thing about Theater from his class. Also, he let the class to be fun by doing some activities because he doesn’t want the students to get bored in his class. By doing some activates and meet with our groups during the class will help the students to communicate with each other. Also, that will help them to improve their skills and to share the ideas and come up with something new for the audience. It’s gives the class a different taste when the instructor let the students meet with their groups and let them work together. For me I always want to come to theater class not just because the attendance points, but I wanted to learn some things that I don’t know. Thank god I learned some things by attending this class everyday, and I took 200 out of 200 on the attendance grade.

People have dreams of what they want to do or accomplish in life, but usually musical theatre is just pushed into the non-realistic void. It isn’t a dream for me. In the past four years, musical theatre has been clarified as my reality. Musical theatre has been the only thing I have seen myself wanting to do. In this essay I will address racial issues in Musical theatre, specifically the black and white divide. I have chosen this subject because I find it interesting how racism used to be so accepted in society, and although it’s decreasing presence it is still an issue today. I will be looking at two similar yet contrasting musicals written at different times. Both these musicals have racial issues through their storyline. I will look at the similarities and differences between these two musicals and how racial issues are expressed. Additionally I will consider when the shows were written; what impact these musicals had on society and vice versa.

From that moment on, I knew that within this semester Professor Conti stepped away from the stereotypical classroom. He cares about his students and rather than relying on textbook material; he used their words and experiences in order to develop a very enjoyable and worth while class.
Technical Theatre class was a great learning experience for me. When I first signed up for the class, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. I had always been quite clumsy, and I’d never been very handy; so I didn’t think I would be of much use to the set building process. However, before the building process began, the class was taught how to properly and safely use power tools. Being educated on how to handle the equipment made me feel a lot more confident. Now, I’m proud of myself because I ended up getting a lot of work done that I didn’t think I was capable of.

I was really impressed on how well organized Alexia Hall was with the class she seem to know where she wanted to the class to be at the end of the semester. We were past out with the class policies and a syllabus of what we were going to do the whole semester. I thought this was very convenient so that there was no mixed signals in the group.
