Interview Project For my shadow day interview I interviewed my father Jeff Stotlar. He works for a healthcare company called Merck. Merck sells pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and animal health products. Merck has been operating for over 125 years developing treatments for people as well as animals. My father’s title is “pharmacy customer representative”. He works in their vaccine division, trying to convince pharmacists to use his product more frequently. He has been working for Merck for 29 years. My father’s academic background includes a Finance undergrad, and an MBA from Kent State University. When starting this project, I didn’t know very much about what my dad did. I understood that he worked in pharmaceutical sales, but I never asked …show more content…
His answer was very interesting, he said the one thing that everyone looked for was a very outgoing personality. He said, sales are very people oriented, and if he didn’t get a strong handshake or strong eye contact it diminished that interviewee’s chances substantially. This went right along with what I learned in class. They truly look for a great personality, my dad said its very personality driven. He said if I wouldn’t want to hang out with this person after the interview than he wasn’t outgoing enough. Along with being outgoing he said that you need to have the ability to adapt and learn quickly. I also asked him what advice he would give to recent graduates looking for a career in sales he said this. You must get your foot in the door, and work as hard as you can. He said that most people hired at his company came from high stress, high turnover sales jobs. He quoted one of his friends saying, “if you can sell a copier you can sell vaccines.” He said that employers look for experience in those kinds of sales field, because they show hard work and dedication. He also gave advice on students wanting to get into the pharmaceutical sales field. He said, you need to be able to understand the science of vaccinations, and can navigate the ecosystem surrounding pharmaceuticals. He also gave insider information on what parts of pharmaceutical sales are growing, and the benefits of working for
On the basis of these findings, I recommend that Johnson & Johnson is a considerable place for employment for someone who is seeking to be part of a pharmaceutical organization
This relates strongly with my long term professional goals. In the long run, I really wish to help as many people as I can by advancing pharmacy. It is a dream to be able to go to a developing country or be part of an organization such as the World Health Organization and spread the knowledge of pharmacy and bring h...
In his discussion, Ziglar reflects back on the valuable element of “networking” for enhancing a salesperson’s “center of influence” (Ziglar 1991, 1-14). Of course, “low self-esteem, rejection,” and a loss of “confidence” can all act as barriers for expanding one’s sales “influence” (Ziglar 1991, 1-14). However, Ziglar explains how these obstacles can be overcome through acquiring “accomplishment feedback” (Ziglar 1991, 1-14). Unfortunately, this is easier said than done as most sales managers are not very informative to new
Many thought he was just putting in extra hours of learning, but in reality he was using his skills to his advantage and using these skills for profit and to swindle banks. This is the start of many instances where he would use horrific deeds for his own personal gain. In 1886, not long after he graduated medical school, he moved to Chicago, Illinois. He went under the alias,

Fred’s sales territory spanned across eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, and as an added bonus for any sales role, he had a charming personality and used this skill in developing relationships with secretaries and nurses of medical institutions. He was very efficient in his work and would not waste the customer’s time when he would call on businesses. He also had a wealth of knowledge on the products he sold, and
Introduction Since my major, Applied Economics is in the business field, I am required to take a lot of business classes. Last spring, I took a class called Food and Agricultural Sales; in that class, we learned about the entire sales process. The class started out very informative, and dry until the professor began bringing guest speakers who are professionals in the sales field. Once, the professionals began speaking to our class, from that moment, I knew I was hooked into the world of sales. When I found out that we had to interview someone who works in the field that we intend to go into, I was excited.
~ ENJOY THE TOWN ~ Connect with the community in different ways. “Have You Ever Taken The Time?” While in graduate school, I lived close to downtown Ann Arbor. One evening I decided to go walking. I didn’t want to pick up any women or, get any phone numbers.
Throughout the course of my life, I have always strived to be the best at whatever it is I do. I utilize my inner drive, motivation, and attention to detail to help propel me to success. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to go into the business industry. Over the years, I realized that sales and marketing were my passion. After I graduate from University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management with a degree in marketing, I hope to go into the sales industry after college.
Experienced sales professionals are adept at answering common interview questions; they are skilled in the art of selling products and services, and also authorities at selling themselves. If you want to go beyond the surface, uncover the applicant's true identity, and evaluate their behavioral or soft skills, ask a few out of the box, unconventional questions. The answers may surprise you and
All of these qualities have really helped me with pursuing being a buyer. I also am a sales associate at Michael Kors. Being a seller for Michael has helped me develop how to figure out the needs and wants of clients. I feel this will help me extensively when I start my career in buying. It will help me with figuring out what the people want and what they are looking for.
Interview a Manager Rose Laketa is the manager of Country Rose Bakery & Cafe. I chose to interview Rose because she manages a small, local business. In my home town, many people gather at Country Rose to enjoy each other's company and some delicious food. My grandmother goes to Country Rose everyday to talk with her friends, while enjoying a cup of coffee. It is because of this welcoming atmosphere that I decided to learn more about the person who keeps this business running smoothly.
On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, I had the opportunity to discuss with Ms. Lori Laing, LMFT about her practices when treating clients in crisis. Ms. Laing conversation was very informal and sincere. She expressed that all her clients are individuals that are in a crisis either domestic violence, intimate partner violence or sexual violence. The points she described challenging aspects when working with clients in crisis were to help clients to identify and utilize resources and strengths since it can be a shift in their pattern and that can be difficult. Besides, she manages those challenges with consistency, encouragement, working through boundaries and challenges (Laing, 2018).
When a person is being hired for a job, what should be catching someone’s attention should be the person’s ability and capability of the skill that most likely they trained for or if they know how to do the job correctly. Being pretty or attractive doesn’t help if the person doesn’t know anything at all about how to manage and/or handle money or know anything bout retailing. Mr. Serrano, a former assistant Abercrombie store manager in Scranton, PA, states,” We were suppose to approach someone in the mall who we think will look attractive in our store … If that person said ‘ I never worked in retailing before,’ we sa...
On the interview day I had with Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), I had the pleasure of speaking with a student who received a dual degree in MD and MA in Urban Bioethics. I saw the brochure and thought it was very interesting, and he was able to expound about his opinion of the program and elaborating on his project involving the local community. I was interested in the program from the information but was not able to commit to applying due to the unknown workload of the school curriculum. As time, went on I was fortunate to attend the PREP program where I heard more about the degree from Nora Jones, and was able to speak to a current M2 about his experience. I shared my perspective with him and was told I would fit
