Rose Laketa is the manager of Country Rose Bakery & Cafe. I chose to interview Rose because she manages a small, local business. In my home town, many people gather at Country Rose to enjoy each other's company and some delicious food. My grandmother goes to Country Rose everyday to talk with her friends, while enjoying a cup of coffee. It is because of this welcoming atmosphere that I decided to learn more about the person who keeps this business running smoothly.
When I first arrived at Country Rose Bakery & Cafe the day of the interview, I immediately felt the appeal of this business. I sat down with Rose at the counter and I began to ask her questions about being the manager of this local bakery. I first asked her to describe her position and how it fits within her business. She said, “I am the manager of the entire operation. I oversee every aspect of the business including; the bakery, the restaurant area, the specialty orders, and all of the employees that work for me”. First, I asked her about what she enjoys most about her job. Immediately Rose exclaimed, “the people, that is an easy one!” She loves seeing the customers and making sure that they are satisfied. Mostly, she enjoys being apart of someone’s special day with a custom cake, such as a wedding, birthday, or retirement party. We then discussed the cons of her position. Rose said, “I hate correcting employees and the challenges of a being the boss of an entire business”. She wants to make sure her employees are having fun, but also completing the requirements of their jobs. She explained that she had never actually raised her voice at an employee while correcting them. Rose feels that keeping her composure is the best way to get her frustrations across to her
I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the training styles of my first interview with general manager Terrel from West Virginia 's Red Lobster. We began the interview with the recap of our first interview, which mainly focused on the training and development of future managers of Red Lobster restaurants. For this interview, I wanted to focus on the entire training process from a new employee to the general manager position.

Motivational interviewing is an important technique and counseling style that was created by William Miller and Stephen Rollnick in the 1980’s. The brief definition of motivational interviewing (MI) that is provided by Miller and Rollnick in their influential text is “a collaborative conversation style for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change” (Miller & Rollnick, 2013). Motivational interviewing is considered to be a style that evolved from client-centered therapy. The style is considered to be empathic but requires the counselor to consciously directive so that they may help their client resolve the ambivalence they are experiencing and direct them towards change. The important thing to note is that client autonomy is key to the process (Hettema, Steele, & Miller, 2005). However, despite being able to currently give a definition of MI, one that could be considered a working definition, motivational interviewing is “a living, evolving method” (Miller & Rollnick, 2009). It will continue to evolve as times change and it is implemented in use with other maladaptive behaviors. MI is a relatively new style that it still has the ability to undergo changes to adapt to what purpose it is serving (Miller & Rollnick, 2009).
I had not heard about inductive interview until my professor assign our qualitative research class an exercise related to that topic. He required our class to “inductively determine your interviewee’s conception of “closeness” without asking for a definition. Actually, I was confused about the true meaning of inductive interview.
