Our generation does not focus on what was done before but what is here now. When looking back in time the history is much relevant then the present. Completing this project made me appreciate Scotlandville even more for what they’ve done to make the Scotlandville family what it is today. I also took a greater appreciation in the Alumni Association and the Scotlandville community for all the funds they have invested and giving us programs that could help us with our secondary education.
This year as an administrator in the building the survey would have come in handy in order for me to learn about some of the
For all teens, the transition into adulthood is generally seen as a challenging and scary process. For teens diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as their caregivers, this transition is often more complicated. The period of transition for individuals with ASD into adulthood is intensely more challenging due to their “unique characteristics, the lack of services that address the special needs of such individuals in adulthood, and the expectations of society for a typical path to adulthood in the face of atypical problems” (Geller and Greenberg, 2009, pg. 93). Without the necessary resources to transition, teens with ASD find themselves unprepared for life at work, in college, or community living. Through this paper, the reader will obtain knowledge in regards to what ASD is, the barriers it yields concerning the transition into adulthood, and the effects it has on the individual as well
Older adults are a very knowledgeable population and have had a lot of life experiences. As people age, things start to change physically, mentally, and socially. It’s important to understand the process of aging, so that older adults can be taken care of properly. I interviewed P.R. who is a 71-year-old male that lives alone in his home. P.R. is a retired coal miner, and is currently living off his social security and savings. He lives close to both his daughter and son, who frequently help him out with things that are needed. P.R. was able to give me a lot of insight about specific challenges that he has experienced in his life that is associated with aging. I will be discussing challenges that P.R experienced physically, mentally,
The Great recession that began in 2007 has had an effect on elderly people. They have a struggle between having to work and retiring. Seniors can enjoy life after retirement. There are benefits of retiring at 65 years old and there are reasons why they retire at 65. Some retire and work part time to make sure they have groceries. There are advantages and disadvantages of working and retiring and there are reasons why people choose to work or retire.
Good evening, and thank you for accompanying our 8th grade promotion. Thank you to the Rock Falls District #13 board members, superintendent Mr. Arickx, Mrs. Palmer, Mr. Calkins, Mr. Rude, and Mr. Ackman. We also give a big thanks to our parents and our teachers. Our parents have helped us with everything we have been through and they have been there to support us with through our struggles in life so far. Some of us wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our teachers. They have put extra time and effort into us so we could be here today, also teachers all throughout our school career have tried to help us succeed so we can make it to the next stage in our life. Sincerely thank you to everyone that has put their time and effort to help us succeed. Next we would like to congratulate the 8th grade class of 2018 for getting this far and helping each other in every way you guys have to proceed to the next
Signs are displayed everywhere we go. From restaurants, to bathrooms, to stadiums to concession stands. In this paper, I will explain the importance of signage. The importance of exit signs and why there are so many. The different type of signage that are used for restrooms, handicap seats and signage, and banners that are shown during basketball games.
Envision sitting in a rocking chair and having an” idle” lifestyle or idle time. When one reaches the age of 55, it is time to consider retirement planning. Determining a future lifestyle change means making plans or preparation for this life adjustment. A little retirement planning now can make a huge difference later and should not be put off. Retirement is a strategy for the future and a vision of the future. Retirement begins with reviewing the financial assets and understands what withdrawing from work means and the impact to family and friends. The State of North Carolina’s State employees retirement plan has lost it punch and many people will not be able to endure if retirement is selected. Trying to develop a solid financial
Let me begin by saying that I am very honored to be addressing the County High School Class of 2012 as students of this institution for the last time. We've spent these last four years creating some serious memories: four years of chieftain power, leaking roofs, questionable Homecoming skits, and musical principals. Four years of good teachers, bad teachers, new teachers, old teachers. Four years of youth, music, growing up and breaking free. Four rubber chickens, four yearbooks, four ASB presidents and four chubby bunnies.
Changes have to be change by the fact that many students from Anaheim High School are not succeeding, the way to do it is to let them earn themselves a full ride scholarship to a four year University. For the ones that can achieve the goal do not have to struggle for money in the future, which then have to pay early on. Many of the students from California receive scholarship by after school programs, sports, and excellent grades. Anaheim High School should pressure the students to have extraordinary grades throughout their freshmen year to senior year and the only way to do that is to give them a reward for their hard work. A program that only focuses on freshmen students to be drafted for a total of forty-percent. The students will have
The issue become extraordinarily worse and overwhelming for both the student and their families during the time getting their degree. While going to college students have to find a job anyways to pay for basic necessities such as Ramen noodles because of how ill prepared their own parents are for the future. Since these students don’t possess a college degree, or if they don’t have any real work experience in the field they are going into beforehand, have to take a low quality job just so students do not end up going hungry by the end of it. There will be little in the way of assistance from the parents of these students as they attempt to save up enough money to retire by the end of paying for the exceedingly high price of their student having
Last Thursday’s class was a reminder that poverty can be a constant cycle. One specific example was about “day of” lenders, who provide money up front with extremely high interest rates knowing the debtor could potentially be unable to repay their debts. In this case penalty charges can keep increasing the amount of money one owes and simultaneously start to dig a deeper and deeper hole. This example felt all too real, because as a student it almost seems impossible to start off life after college without having to take out some type of loan(s). It could be money for a vehicle all the way to buying a home, but either way you need to be able to pay off your debt by finding a job(s) with a wage that can. I hope to never find myself in a
Becoming an adult, also known as young adulthood, is a very crucial stage in one’s life. This is the climax of physical and health processes. This is the point in life when we make plans of our futures. It is the time when we think of what life will be like as an adult and make plans for the future. Most importantly, it is when we lay the starting point for developmental changes that we will undergo throughout our lives. An adult is a person who is fully grown or developed. Some people believe that you become an adult when you are 18 years old, other believe you are an adult when you can legally buy and consume alcohol, that is, at age 21 in the United States. Others believe that you are an adult when you are supporting yourself
The biggest determinate for an individual to ether go to a university or community college should be, maturity. Maturity has many facets to it, performance level which is what most schools look for, but as well, discipline and accountability are some additional important traits.
Every year people are flunking out of high school and college. But what causes a person to do that, they either miss too many days, couldn’t make the grades, or just didn’t want to go anymore. School sometimes just isn’t for some people, some people out there prefer just to work and earn there own money rather than spending a lot of school. There are some that can’t afford school so they are forced to drop out. That is just a few reasons, these examples will be told with some more detail.
