Signs are displayed everywhere we go. From restaurants, to bathrooms, to stadiums to concession stands. In this paper, I will explain the importance of signage. The importance of exit signs and why there are so many. The different type of signage that are used for restrooms, handicap seats and signage, and banners that are shown during basketball games. Signs are everywhere. Signs are all around you and you may not even notice it. Signs can be big as a bus or small as a loose-leaf paper. There are signs that tell you that you are going the right direction, signs that show you where something is located, example a restroom sign, or a handicap sign, signs that explain things like a cigarette with a red circle and a line threw it mean no smoking. Yes, most of the time marketing does mean some type of money, but not always. I will discuss about specific types of signs in my essay including the emergency exit sign, restroom signs, handicap signs and seats, and banners that is around basketball courts and stadiums. The first type of sign I will discuss is the emergency exit sign. When people go into any type of building for example, libraries, basketball courts, grocery stores, there are emergency exit signs. They are usually high up above a door with red words saying “EXIT” but have you ever wonder why they are there, why they are red, and why there are so many in one building? An exit sign is a device in a building that shows the closet emergency exit in case of a fire, bomb threats inside of a building, or other disasters. Emergency lights are red because when smoke illuminates a hall or a building or there is a blackout, the red florescent light will shine threw, making it easier for people to see.
Whether recognized or not, advertisements play a significant role on the way in which consumers make choices. Though society as a whole may not recognize the impact of advertising, commercials and good billboards are still noticed and enjoyed. Even colors are used a way in which to catch the eye of the consumer.
For instance, the flag symbolizes freedom and the stars represent the states. Even some signs are symbols like when a beaker has a skull with bones placed like an ‘x’ behind it, which symbolizes that it’s toxic or bad. I would say that the person who influenced me at my placement was really my supervisor, Mrs. Barber. She is a very successful teacher whom i respect greatly and really look up to. She helped influence me by always encouraging me to help in the elass, and helped me to learn to take initiative. She was always helping me to learn new things, and allowed me to see the kids grow and learn, and help to teach me new things by pushing me outside my comfort zone.
Evacuation plans and fire exits are also noticeable in the hospital. This shows that the health system provides therapeutic care and holistic care to the staffs, patients and visitors. It is a hazard sign that alerts everyone to know where to go. For example, if there are fire, with the evacuation plan and fire exits it will help the staffs, patients and visitors to know what to do and where to assemble. In college classrooms there are ads along the walls. Driving home from school, I see billboards of awkward posing women in beer ads and television show premieres. In homes, people watch television and there are commercial breaks every five to ten minutes. Even in the most unexpected places, people will more than likely be able to find advertisements. Restrooms occasionally have advertisements posted above toilets or along the walls. As advertisements intrude into every aspect, they make statements about what society thinks is normal.

Signs. They're everywhere. Though this statement is in no way enlightening, it is none the less very true. Within our culture, we are so completely surrounded by signs of all types that they become nearly invisible unless they are looked for. Though this likely seems true to you upon some reflection, it is just as likely that you have only considered "signs" in the most basic literal sense, that is, signs such as those that offer directions to the nearest parking lot or those denoting street names. However, semiologists1 consider signs in a much more broad manner. To semiologists, signs include both verbal and non-verbal2 communications, as well as objects or phenomenon taken as signs by their viewer. In fact, road signs and their ilk make up only a very small part of what semiologists study. Other signs, non-verbal communications for instance, tend to make for more interesting subjects of study as they are much more dynamic in both their use and perception. However, not to ignore the road signs, I will take up the ever-present stop sign as an example throughout this piece, as both a sign that demands our immediate attention and yet goes by almost unnoticed.

Dropouts in school have been an important topic in education since the number of students that are dropping out has been increasing over the years. There is more than one reason students decide to leave school before graduating from high school. In the Gate Foundation report, they do a survey to investigate the main reasons of why students of age 16-25 years old drop out of high school. According to the Gate Foundation report, they are five main reasons why students are dropping out of school. Almost half of the students in the survey responded that one of the major reasons of dropping out of high school was because classes were not interesting or boring. It is true that if a person does not feel interested of learning something, then it can
